  1. And those are 81 games in that Frisco stadium…not exactly offense friendly at night.
  2. At any rate…the Giants aren’t going anywhere without another legit pitcher this season. And the Mariners are going nowhere fast without enough offense to keep up with Texas and Houston’s last stand.
  3. $6 million. The difference in Ohtani’s long-term deferral basically amounted to Joe Kelly in the end…fitting under the luxury threshold.
  4. The Giants need the money THIS year to make another splash. All about cash flow in 2024. In the big picture…the Mariners continue to go backwards. The Rangers look like they will be even more formidable with deGrom returning, although who knows how his health will hold the second half of 2024.
  5. I would suggest he looks at BA lists of Sox prospects from 1998-2001 and 2017-18-19 to see how quickly a #1 system can disintegrate. Or the Padres in 2019-20. Gone in a flash. Poof. To this day, the Cubs and Astros and now the Braves/Dodgers are the only ones with true sustained success. (Can probably add Tampa Bay as well.)
  6. Not with those insulting offers you are not. Even if it’s not Mayo, 100% there’s zero conversation without Kjerstad. Because Getz can add 25-50 more players like the ones you’re suggesting…it still won’t move the needle. He won’t be able to sell it to a completely disillusioned and disenchanted fanbase that has almost given up already. Those trades you are suggesting would be this decade’s equivalent of moving off your intended target to end up with Basabe and Victor Diaz from the Red Sox instead of a legit third piece for Chris Sale. It would be yet another nail in the coffin for those looking for any reason to be hopeful about the future of this forlorn franchise.
  7. Good luck keeping Ryu healthy for an entire season.
  8. You don’t like Cease. Who do you like that’s actually available? And take a gander at Options 31-60, lol…along with the likes of Giolito, Montas, Mahle, Gibson…you will find Gilbert and Kirby to go along with Castillo of the Mariners. How much are you willing to give up for any of those three? Let’s see if you can make a deal with DiPoto/M’s fans…
  9. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&month=0&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&players=0&startdate=&enddate=&season1=2021&season=2023 Okay Mr. Sports Guy. There’s your list. Have at it. Corbin Burnes only gives you one year of control, a relatively massive prospect cost and $25 million price tag. Alcantara…Marlins won’t trade him or Eury Perez but will potentially move Luzardo, massive injury concerns, coming off a down year Luis Castillo…good luck. Framber Valdez…good luck. Woodruff might be the type of deal almost any team in baseball would make for at least two full years of control…knowing it might completely blow up in your face. White Sox might as well sign him if nobody else will. Pay Montgomery/Snell $150-200 million. Haha. They’re far behind Dylan Cease, btw. Kershaw and Urias, ha and ha. Bieber, well-documented…clearly on downside. More expensive. Peralta…see Burnes, depends what direction ownership goes with rebuild in MIL. Especially if Cubs don’t do much more than keep Bellinger. Musgrove or Darvish…Padres would have to give up at ASB and those are big big big contracts for pitchers that have already peaked in all likelihood. That’s why Dylan Cease is worth a s%*# ton to roughly 15-18 teams in baseball, if you think coldly and rationally about this list. Orioles with quite limited options financially. (Even if FG just posted an article about Gunnar Henderson and Witt Jr. being on Hall of Fame SS tracks...Balt still needs pitching and Kimbrel is already knocking you back 5 games in the standings, lol.) PS: Also a bit ironic looking at Rodon still holding at #10 after that awful 2023…shows just how good his 2021-22 seasons actually were.
  10. Man…it must be very puzzling to be a Mariners fans right now. And totally frustrating. "If you go back, and you look in a decade, those teams that win 54% of the time always wind up in the postseason and they more often than not wind up in a World Series, so there's your bigger picture process," Dipoto said. "Nobody wants to hear 'the goal this year is we're going win 54% of the time. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/mlb/mariners-president-jerry-dipoto-the-goal-is-to-win-54-of-the-time
  11. He’s also not understanding the bigger point…which is that there are at least another 5-6 teams like the Cubs and Giants and Blue Jays under tremendous pressure to make a splash between now and Opening Day, having accomplished little to nothing this offseason. The Yankees can’t be satisfied with Rodon and Cortes, for example.
  12. Yeah. Every fan who acts too cocky about their team gets a comeuppance. Eventually. But especially in the AL East. The Red Sox can’t even compete in that division any more…at least they’re not willing to do so at the spending levels required.
  13. Cease has basically been averaging 4 fWAR for the last THREE years. For every Moncada and Kopech originally projected to do that, you’ll typically have 5-6 failures even in the Top 25-30 (overall) MiLB players for each true or genuine hit. You’re not entitled to act like a Blue Jays fan just yet when you haven’t actually accomplished anything on a consistent basis…notice they have been stuck in the same exact position for three years now, with their biggest adds Kierkmaier and IKF, despite running a much bigger payroll. (See Tampa Bay for how to pull it off.)
  14. Imanaga is now apparently at the $95-110 million range…
  15. If he had a sub 3 ERA they would…how many teams have given Aroldis Chapman opportunities? Hasn’t stopped him from collecting titles. And what did KC get back for him last year? Let’s not forget the whole skull fracture thing was completely fabricated.

  17. Reminds me of Red Sox situation where they forced Bloom to dump Betts and then hung him on that cross later...no win situation there when everyone knew Boston wasn't going to sign him long term (which would have been far better than Bogaerts or Devers.)
  18. Not interested in acquiring...Mateo's strictly a utility player, a better version of Leury. Mullins has been all over the board, at times looking like an MVP caliber player and at others like he will never stay healthy enough or consistent enough to hold down a role. Basically the O's version of Jazz Chisholm. Of course, they only have control over him for arbitration years 2/3, which is precisely when the Rays would be parting ways (exception here might be Arozarena, who's too central to their team's identity.)
  19. Daniels is certainly in the top ten if not 3-4...but outcomes with Nix and Penix are all over the place, from 9 to 39. Then you have McCarthy as well floating in that same range.
  20. They seem committed to Murray for now. Almost no choice financially.
  21. Not if it means he loses a free and open line of direct communication with the Sox in exchange...their exclusive "go to" guy.
  22. 1980s/early 90s Heather Locklear would be far far better than any of these Orioles packages.
  23. They wouldn't have dumped Teoscar if that was going to be the plan...regurgitated again.
