Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
https://global.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/48567469/white-sox-murakami-homers-5th-straight-tie-rookie-record "I've run out of things to say," White Sox manager Will Venable said. "Obviously, he continues to put himself in a really good spot to take good swings on good pitches. He's making great swing decisions, making a ton of contact, and when he hits it, he hits it really hard." Venable added: "Even the singles he's hitting are hard. The damage is incredible, and it's impressive to watch." Murakami is the 13th MLB rookie since at least 1900 to go deep in five straight, according to ESPN Research. The Japanese first baseman also tied the White Sox's franchise record, a mark shared by A.J. Pierzynski (2012), Paul Konerko (2011), Carlos Lee (2003), Frank Thomas (twice in 1994), Ron Kittle (1983) and Greg Luzinski (1983).

Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
https://global.espn.com/fantasy/baseball/story/_/id/48566274/espn-mlb-fantasy-baseball-dont-surprised-murakami-luzardo-rushing ESPN predicts 50+ homers and BAA under .200 like Schwarber did once. Concerns about hitting vs. velocity/elite pitchers, but we've been hearing that for ages. Merrill Kelly, for example, isn't bad at all, has always been an above average starter.

"Nevertheless, the Mets are at a place with Acuna where it doesn’t look like they’ll get much at all from him. Re-grading this now, a C- is the best we can do. A large part of it comes from the fact the Mets were able to shed salary, open a roster spot, and make 2024 memorable without him. Chances are, if this trade gets another re-grade in 2026, it’s going to be worse."

At least they targeted Baty first. Then Vientos. Then their switch hitter of the future if it was still 2023-24.

Surely they'll make us forget Bonds Sosa and McGwire too And we'll all wake up with mint condition 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie cards with a pristine autograph affixed in our Christmas stockings MaRis btw maybe Barry Pepper will even come back to do a recreation of that 1961 homer race at GRF this year...

Going on about Venable pitching to Muncy with one out instead of the pitcher with bases loaded and little used Jack Gelof coming up with two theoretical outs instead seems kind of relevant. Did Venable simply assume striking out Muncy there would be easier? Hey that doesn’t take an Ivy education to figure out…now does it?

Só then going by actual record in current year and not merely optimistic projections for 2028-30 is fine? WE: Nobody could have possibly predicted Vasil Hays S.Smith Teel Acuna etc. being hurt or underperforming. You’re saying the usual cast of April fill in vet villains aren’t to be scapegoated for consistent lack of depth issues under Getz (like Bido last night)? Where’s our prized trade acquisition Wiki González, for example? Finally, are you willing to go on record that Colson and Mune should both be given $100+ million extensions as of today? Make sure to bet Ron’s money…and, the only panicking going on right now is in VA Texas and Virginia lol.

Where the Panicans at? Future Looks Bright!
If the starting pitching continues a run like this, 14/17 starts with two or fewer runs, sure. but defense, fundamentais/execution, McGuire and Burke hadn’t stopped a single opposing baserunner, for example, the leaky bullpen, the leaky AL Central…leaky line-up choices by Venable, questionable strategies Sure Antonacci Hagen Dutch Bonemer McDougal Braden might all succeed, but that’s not how it usually goes 1-1 and 2-41 picks, etc. Boyer has yet to really capitalize on the Mune market as of yet….we’ve heard of one trip to Japan that was marketing related but crickets só far The Idea of JR giving out a $200+ million dóllar deal let alone $300 seems pretty preposterous Getting attached to Mune (bought a Jersey already) and then watching him get traded away to fill in the blank big spending club is going to be just par for the course as a Sox fan. Also, has good ‘ol Ron ever posted in game threads when the Sox weren’t on top of the world at 9-14 and not the very bottom due to teams like KC and NYM? Don’t seem to recall much of a presençe.

Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
Problem 2: The balls put into play aren't turning into hits at their former levels. The statistical term for this is BABIP and the .289 mark this season would be the lowest since 1992, though, like average, it will go up some over the course of the season. But it isn't going to approach the "healthy" benchmark of .300. I had hoped that the ban of extreme defensive shifting would get us back to that level. It simply has not happened. The bane of a league with a batting average of too much three-true-outcomes baseball -- far too many plate appearances that end with a strikeout, walk or home run. ESPN.com

All things LA Dodgers Thread...
He picked the Dodgers to fix his fast ball…very specifically they kind of did in the post season run except for one hiccup…but now he just looks lost again fastball velo at 96-97 touching 98 and getting rocked more than any pitch in baseball Getting behind in counts constantly His splitter is a great equalizer, but hitters are learning to lay off on that and wait on a straight as an arrow fb He really needs to find a third reliable pitch and attack confidently with that arsenal…instead of tinkering with 5-6 pitches but lacking confidence in any of them
