https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/team.cgi?id=19343131 Who would you choose from their putrid minor league system? That's going to replace their best second half hitter in Laureano?

Cease pitching well...Machado needs to come alive, or Bogaerts.
-
CLE has a better excuse for 26,000 since that home date wasn't known until hours in advance AND it was an earlier day game on a work day. Other three sites were far easier ticket sells with NY and LA starting at night.

Oops...saw that happen recently against SD where Arraez was thrown out at second trying to stretch for a double by the OFer for a third out while slow catcher scoring almost stopped and was barely out by one step at home. Doesn't happen very often.

Maybe he'll do the same thing Snell did last night...but not very likely.
-
That's a marginal out reversal call that just might have shifted the series. At least there's not an open rebellion against MLB umpires/refs like in the WNBA.
-
Going with what got them there... Not going to change, at least Schildt is consistent.
-
If it's not former players, there's also coaches like Joey Cora in DET lol.

Montgomery was never going to get an opportunity in that outfield...Teel maybe, eventually, but not over Narvaez in 2025. Missing WS rings...?? Maybe Kyle but still think the Mariners or Dodgers win.

Dodgers' first championship this era doesn't count? Abreu's MVP?

Welcome to D2...Cease/Rodon Day both pitching in elimination games with their backs to the wall

Only comps are South Carolina running back Lattimore a decade ago (drafted in fourth but never played in NFL) and Nick Chubb...

Garrett Crochet named Opening Day starter
caulfield12 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Crochet posted a 2.59 ERA in his first season with the Red Sox, and his numbers were even more impressive against a slugging Yankees lineup: Starts W-L IP ERA K BB 5 4-0 35.0 2.57 50 4 "While Crochet's 2.57 ERA is nearly identical, he posted an otherworldly 50:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio and won each decision. Crochet notched double-digit strikeouts in three of his five starts against the Yankees, including Tuesday's Game 1 win, and half of the earned runs he allowed against New York were limited to his first meeting with Aaron Judge and co. in June." yahoo sports Only three other pitchers in baseball history with 50 k's and 5 or less walks against a single team in one season in baseball history. Gerrit Cole 2019 Ferguson Jenkins 1971 Christy Matthewson 1917 or 1927 -
Garrett Crochet named Opening Day starter

Probably something to do with having the 5th worst record in baseball from 2011-2025 (15 seasons)...goes down even more if you take out 2012. 1. Dodgers (1392-939) 2. Cardinals 3. Braves 4. Rays 5. Brewers 10. Cubs (1182-1150) 22. Reds 23. Pirates 24. Twins 25. Royals 26. White Sox (1029-1302) 71-91 average 27. Marlins 28. Rockies https://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask/mlb-teams-records-over-the-last-15-years If you go back to 2001-2025, Royals Rockies Pirates Orioles Marlins Tigers Reds White Sox are the worst. -
Who the heck buys a Miguel Rojas jersey? Unless it's also his real last name...
-
Dodgers still struggling with their bullpen...guess they really want to make this interesting.

Tru's hot take wins the thread lol "Crochet has gotten worse each start pretty much. Already losing velocity, becoming less effective each start. Dude I don’t even use my little league pitchers as irresponsible as the White Sox are with their million dollar asset. And I’m a 39 year old dad trying to win a spring season trophy." -
Likely out for postseason and essentially a FA. And $38.5 million richer...
-
Looks like he's just barely out but maybe it stands.
-
Someone will invariably raise the 83-79 Cards that won the WS, exact same record as Cincy...counterpoint, Baltimore from 2023-24.

You've already forgotten 2020? One of the few teams to win G1 and go on to lose a short three game series. The Cubs' problem is that their success is going to be how sustainable without Tucker and short in the rotation as well???...Imanaga hasn't been nearly as good as 2024 and Steele will take some time rehabbing from TJS. Guess a lot depends on what type of player PCA really is...just like Colson for the Sox, hard to predict 2026 results. Looking back on that timeframe...losing Tatis with nothing to replace him hurts the most. That young star to sell jerseys and inspire those young future fans in terms of their future loyalties.

Was it really worth if for Reds' fans to get to the postseason for this? Guess knocking the Mets out was 50% of the joy and happiness of following a team for 6 months. Looks like Detroit and the Cubs will have to represent "flyover territory" if the Brewers pull of their usual postseason fade.
