  1. At the big league level...we shall see. We only have 5-6 guys at his spot unless they move him to corner OF.
  2. Really hope the Mariners win it all. Either Milwaukee (small market) or LA inhe NL so that they can finally start leveling the playing field financially in mlb.
  3. 2024 they almost took out LA, best team in baseball, after beating Atlanta. Thanks for nothing Cease. 2022 they made it all the way through to the NLCS but made mistake of starting Clevinger...lost to Philly. 2020 beat St. Louis. Lost to Dodgers. But not bad at all for a bottom 5 market in US pro sports. Not like they lost to Detroit CLE KC.
  4. https://chicago.suntimes.com/cubs/2025/03/05/how-brad-keller-made-mid-career-velocity-jump-thats-turning-heads-in-cubs-camp Also fire Shildt...
  5. Tatis way way too anxious after walking a career high 89 times this year, too. He always had that playoff magic until this game.
  6. Have to start cheering for Milwaukee/Vaughn... Keller another feather in Getz's cap lol. Blow up the Padres. At least they have had four playoff series victories since 2020...but this is just not their year.
  7. Can't win at Wrigley scoring just one run.
  8. The super pen approach was really started last year. In addition to Laureano, Adam being out with the hamstring has really hurt because they had to move Estrada back one spot.
  9. For making playoffs 4/6 years compared to Padres' previous franchise history....and Top 3 attendance??? Well it doesn't really matter. Need to do a retooling...limited budget now and lower draft picks and can't buy out international classes anymore. Maybe they shake things up and trade Machado....try to build around Merrill and Tatis.
  10. It made more sense with a healthy Musgrove...
  11. Still not buying M.Miller in the starting rotation ala Crochet after they lose Suarez to free agency...
  12. Padres just not nearly as good with RISP this year. And their rotation is a complete mess after Pivetta...at least after M.King got hurt.
  13. Wouldn't be shocked if Estrada gave up 2-3 here...have to save Suarez but he rarely goes more than one inning anyway.
  14. Machado faded down the stretch too. Looking like the Orioles' exit last two post seasons. Still think the Laureano injury was the key here...not much you can do about it at the last minute.
  15. Cease will either get bombed or pitch a gem...odds against his former team, well, not going to bet it either way.
  16. Starting to think a long Cubs' postseason run might actually put some pressure on Jerry Reinsdorf to spend. But nah...
  17. Padres Place Ramón Laureano On Injured List Due To Finger Fracture September 27: The Padres officially placed Laureano on the 10-day injured list today, per a club announcement. What good defense playing RH power hitters were available on September 27th????? The story of this game isn't going to be that Bryce Johnson would have come through in those situations. One was a really good play by Swanson.
  18. Have to score against Kittredge next inning.
  19. He would have been the third best hitter after Colson and Teel on the White Sox... This game was all about not scoring runs 2 and 3 in the early going.
  20. Anything is possible in the playoffs. Sasaki and Henriquez haven't been tested in the postseason for LA.
  21. Who was available? Martin Maldonado...Diaz??? Other than Tatis Machado Bogaerts they're a LH dominant team. If the Padres got that 3-2 lead or even 2-2 Johnson would be in for defense about right now.
  22. Cubs aren't going far in the playoffs with that rotation and Tucker/PCA not hitting...they might just have enough to take out SD with home field advantage.
  23. You're forgetting their minor league system has been gutted the last two years. They're like the 28th/29th MiLB system. Not much help available.
  24. There comes the Sheets defense. Laureano would have had that. SD is just a flawed team.
