  1. Learning how not to panic when markets are down 20-40% is definitely an acquired skilled borne of experience. Not easy for young investors to do the opposite of everyone else...especially when paper losses from a psychological standpoint feel so much more demoralizing trying to get to your first $50k $100k $500k saved/invested.
  2. Also signed Matsui out of JPN and were much happier with him and another guy they picked up on waivers from the Cubs...who has been quite effective recently.
  3. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/detroit-tigers-announcers-awkward-comments-205916659.html Tigers' announcers stalking Livvy Dunne
  4. Unless you have those individually devastating pitches like a Mariano Rivera or Trevor Hoffman, etc.
  5. Not many mom and pop investors have the cojones to double down in situations like 1998-2002, 2007-2009 and then 2020-2021. The huge institutional investors and billionaires are the ones to clean up.
  6. Every year...we seem to lose one Top 80-120 prospect. Last year, Colas. Hopefully, Ramos can rebound and get back from AA/AAA. Would have preferred a return to BIRM with how overwhelmed he has looked this time around. Seems like a pretty important thing for all of those players to develop good chemistry and learn how to win together as a unit.
  7. With the hiring of TLR…compounded by two more critical mistakes.
  8. The Lee late homer and calling them flat again would have put both Grifol and Lee into direct/open conflict. If he threw the players under the bus again…they might just totally give up until Robert comes back.
  9. $20-25 million per year would easily pay for a very nice offensive anchor like a Marcell Ozuna to go along with Robert. Honestly, the future offensive core outside of Montgomery and maybe Gonzalez feels pretty much non-existent right now. Korey Lee if he isn't ruined by Grifol first...

  11. “There’s no magic remedy here. The remedy here is you know what? Let’s get ready to work again in Milwaukee. That’s it,” White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said. “There’s no magic wand here to where it’s, ‘OK, now we are going to start to hit.’ “It’s about work. It’s about preparing, working. These guys are not afraid to sweat, not afraid to get after it. We have to continue to get after it. As far as the statistics and the history of this team and what we are doing, I’m not really focused on that. I’m focused on where we are at and where we gotta go.” https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/white-sox-assistant-gm-josh-barfield-on-team-s-struggles CHICAGO -- The 2023 Arizona Diamondbacks made a somewhat improbable run to the World Series before losing to the Rangers in five games. But just two years before that run of excellence, Arizona finished at a painful and forgettable 52-110. Josh Barfield was there for part of ‘23 as Arizona’s director of player development, before joining the White Sox as assistant general manager under new general manager Chris Getz. He was there for the D-backs’ entire rough journey in ‘21. So he can talk first-hand about a baseball team’s climb from oblivion to primetime in a relatively short period of time. “That was a horrible stretch,” Barfield told MLB.com prior to Chicago’s 3-1 loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday at Guaranteed Rate Field. “I want to say we set the record for most road losses. We went a month, and we won like two or three games.”
  12. They are definitely not going to sign him, because he would most certainly call the White Sox the worst team in baseball on his way out.
  13. Unless you're the Royals starting out with Witt, Singer, Perez, Pasquantino, Ragans, etc. And plenty of money and a willingness to spend it in FA (Lugo in particular has been Top 3 Cy Young).
  14. Lee as DH last September would have been inconceivable. Official/announced 11,599 attendance. Quin? Where's the we got our asses kicked (AGAIN) tonight/today Grifol picture???
  15. Atta boy. Narrowly avoiding shutout losses...not sure if that's good or bad at this point. Now Grifol has to praise Lee for fighting until the end, lol.
  16. Are we going to get the obligatory hitting or assistant hitting coach firings first? KC Royals now at +13, Guardians likely at +18
  17. Maldonado down in the .260's for OPS getting PH for by Mendick...yikes. Let's see here who Grifol's going to attempt to pin this on to make them the "fall guy." Last year, it was pretty much everyone who left the organization at the DDL, along with Anderson and Grandal. Next? Colas and Sosa are too low profile to take the blame for this.
  18. How bad has Ramos looked since he came back recently? Fletcher? Man, those are some ugly ugly statistical lines, without considering Maldonado and Benintendi.
  19. Lee in danger of sliding under .700 OPS now... .267 BA and solid defense, he's the LEAST of the Sox worries right now, in the overall scheme of things.
  20. Wow...two whole hits.
  21. Santos/Sizemore/Jirschele/Leyland's kid ANY OF THE ABOVE. I think the Santos video where one of his players got promoted is getting weighed a bit too heavily, but who knows. The Barons' manager makes sense as well...which is Santos. They are the "pride" of the farm system at this point, best record, most prospects together, etc. Also started his career with the DBacks, so might have some connections with Barfield as well somehow...would have to track his coaching career since he retired.
  22. So basically just a "PR" guy, rah rah type like everyone was concerned with Connor McKnight...just more of a national profile on his CV.
  23. I don't think they've given an official announced attendance under 10,000 all season, seems to be a point of pride even though they're something like 27th in attendance right now.
  24. He seems to be one of these "new generation" social media guys who is hyper-concerned about internet views/likes/comments and making a name for himself. Like if Dave Portnoy was a broadcaster, the equivalent of that. Benetti at least had the obvious talent, especially in basketball and college football.
