  1. We saw something with his two-seamer back then that really looked promising...other than his 4-18 or 4-22 or whatever record it was he recorded. Former first rounder for Milwaukee, always had lots of obstacles in his path forward. We think he can really mentor the younger pitchers with his vast treasure test of experiences along his long and winding baseball journey.
  2. https://www.gaslampball.com/2023/5/17/23722734/game-44-san-diego-padres-vs-kansas-city-royals#comments Could be a White Sox thread. Fire Preller and Melvin. Too many divas with long term contracts. Machado the primary target this year after near MVP season last. On track for worst hitting with RISP of any team in the modern era and maybe 100+ years back. That seems like it will eventually return to mean. No team concept, just a collection of talent. Future mortgaged for the present/minors gutted by trades for Clevinger Soto Hader etc. Every bounce goes the exact wrong way. They were one strike away from being tied at +4 with LAD and have given up seven games in the standings in roughly ten days (2-9, just lost 2/3 to KC at home) Crying Kershaw meme on scoreboard jinxed them lol.
  3. Yeah... they know relying on Heyward Thompson and Outman or Busch all holding their own into August and Sept is unlikely. Obviously still have Betts, so need one more OF. And Taylor now has to play the infield, 2B and SS.
  4. Does Cespedes still exist? That window is more like 2027-30 and definitely will require Robert superstardom and a massive extension to get there. Cease and Kopech will be gone before the window even gets started... so it's basically rebuilding the entire rotation from scratch...but without Sale/Q/Eaton to kick start it. Let's just hope that Hendriks can get healthy enough to be traded off the roster to a contender. Finally, this scenario also requires someone willing to take Moncada and Benintendi... not easy to pull rabbits out of those hats.
  5. Dylan Covey will likely be available again. Currently with LAD. Desirable winning % for getting another high draft pick. Still only 31 lol. Bring back 2017/18 vibes.
  6. Ofc Outman hits a massive bomb to help the Dodgers/Sox lol.
  7. You jinxed Outman. He can't hit a fastball recently. 7 ks in last 17 abs.
  8. Burger complaints should be few and far between. Needs to be working diligently every day at 3B defense.
  9. Dylan Covey thrust into Dodgers/Twins game early after Dustin May pulled after just one inning. May with right elbow pain two years after TJS. 86 mph curveball today.
  10. Trayce Thompson with such odd numbers. 0 for his last 28 but had GW walkoff walkoff to win Mon against Minny. .125 . 629
  11. Just the idea of Martin... who was a Top 25-30 pitcher in one of the lowest ranked farm systems... ever being a key to the future is depressing. Might as well go with Cannon/Thompson because Vera doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon, either. Then there's the Schultz inactivity to top it off.
  12. https://www.mlb.com/news/gerrit-cole-zac-gallen-lead-1st-cy-young-award-poll-2023 Gray and Ryan both Top 5 for AL Cy Young... Lopez honorable mention.
  13. DeRozan should be reallocated as a motivational speaker for the Sox...on topic of players loving the benefits but not loving the game or being dedicated to their craft like he accused many in this recent generation of young NBA players.
  14. Doesn't even make any sense... Why would they cut that deeply... then turn around and suddenly trust Hahn to spend again into the $200 million range? Building around starting pitching as first priority instead? Well White Sox fans according to KW tend to prefer slugfests to pitching duels if they're going to be mediocre either way. Bullpen first? Seems like a big no. Signing a true superstar, beyond retaining Robert? Seems even less likely if Ohtani bidding legitimately ends up in the $400-500 million range... Hahn would somehow argue the new Moneyball niche is deals in the $60-80 million range for second and third tier veteran stars like Grandal Benintendi Hendriks etc. That seems the most disastrous direction of all. Setting the bar again at simply out spending the Central does nothing with Hahn still making decisions. "Unprecedented financial flexibility" ends up going poof in a second or two with his allocation style of mediocre yet pricey vets.
  15. Back when players in FA would sign in June due to QO's...almost none of those guys starting midseason ever pitched or played as well as expected. And those were largely healthy players...not recovering from lymphoma/cancer.
  16. Twins have only won ONE game in team history at Dodger Stadium, coming into the late innings here...3-1 Twins leading going into BOT 8
  17. Second win for Lynn. Robert OPS now at 906...paired with favorite for Gold Glove. 48 homers in just over 1000 at bats... lifetime 823 ops.
  18. Verlander got booed off the field in his home debut tonight in NY. THAT honeymoon period didn't last long. Mets will be 20-23.
  19. Financially, sure. But Seby and Perez will hardly be a powerhouse catching combination. That said... Grandal only throwing out 13% and that even seems higher than it feels like.
  20. Grandal took Lynn's ball... or Lynn just made absolutely no effort to get it lol. Rocchio's first career hit. Yasmani losing fWAR points by the day.
  21. But one too few at 2B and RF unless you're willing to tolerate Sheets out there. They're HIGHLY unlikely to bench Benintendi or Vaughn for Burger/Eloy...so Burger gets screwed over again.
  22. His underlying stats are the worst in his career...ever since rookie season, at least. He won't get a big contract from CLE, just like Giolito from the Sox.
  23. How can those runs be earned when Robert reached on catcher's interference? Guess you can't assume the third out there...
