  1. Fedde needs to keep that ERA closer to 3 than 4...can we get at least one decent trade candidate if Crochet or Robert aren't moved, por favor? Noticed that Remillard has a 419 OPS (yikes) at Charlotte, Montgomery at 717 but still that low average. Colson should at least be in the 775-825 range playing half his games at that bandbox of a stadium.
  2. Also a good reason bringing up someone like Baldwin from AA would be pretty much insane. Let them play and win together, if nothing else, if provides Merkin something to write about every couple of weeks. Sergio Santos on White Sox Double-A affiliate (mlb.com)
  3. Well, at least we didn't extend Colt Keith, there's that. Still struggling at a 588 ops, with a .233 BA, those are some pretty darned ugly XB and BB numbers there, and he's not really a strong defender, either.
  4. Flaherty continuing to show the Orioles they made a mistake in letting him go....although obviously didn't pitch great LAST season. With all the injuries, now they are short on pitching, even with the addition of Burnes (obviously Hall also departed to MIL). ERA for Flaherty now below 3 at 2.97.
  5. Testament to Aja Wilson, current MVP favorite, she's barely first over Clark in early All Star balloting. Griner low, Taurasi not even Top 30. 6 White hoopers in Top 12. The funniest one is Kate Martin at 4.5 ppg for LV but hardly playing now. At least no Megan Gustafson. Go Hawkeye Nation! https://sports.yahoo.com/aja-wilson-caitlin-clark-top-initial-round-of-fan-voting-for-wnba-all-star-game-185938379.html July 20th is going to be fun. All-Star Game in Phoenix, home to Taurasi/Griner as well. JUST IN: Atlanta Dream is moving tonight's game from their regular court (Gateway Center Arena - capacity 3,500) to the NBA court (State Farm Arena - capacity 19,050). Just saw on their news that they're expecting a sellout crowd w/ standing room only. That's massive.
  6. What would Schiffren do…? https://www.yahoo.com/sports/oh-goodness-watch-reporter-completely-155156647.html
  7. Colas has definitely been hitter for better average/contact and sure better versus RHP. Mendick simply didn’t have much of a chance there.
  8. Jimenez, Moncada, Benitendi $63 million (2024-25 buyouts included) Touissant $1.3 million Stassi $1.24 million Leury $5.5 million Pillar $1 million Leone $1.5 million Tim Hill $1.8 million Soroka $3 million Maldonado $3.25 million Brebbia $5.5 million Lopez $4.3 million Liam Hendriks still owed $15 million in deferred money over time Roughly $115 million … up in smoke. Poof.
  9. Plus another $500k for the buyout. $1,240,000 million up in smoke. It all adds up, unfortunately.
  10. But in another way, he wasn’t, because nobody at that moment could have imagined him making the majors at just 19-20, 2 1/2 years later.
  11. Already made that mistake with Konerko and Contreras, which is partially why JR pushed Buehrle into FA with Miami in 2012. So he wouldn't have to play the bad guy for not signing a franchise icon.
  12. But for every positive, there’s Rodon Hendriks Madrigal Anderson, etc., with zero or negative returns. Had to sell low on Cease and now Robert. Nothing for Moncada Jimenez Kopech.
  13. “That was probably the last deal we made with having a short-term mindset in mind,” Hahn told MLB.com in 2019. “Ultimately when this thing gets right, we are going to once again have a shorter time arising goal with our trades. It doesn’t mean you want to make a deal that haunts you for the long term, obviously.” It’s difficult to imagine Tatis would have been positioned to receive a nine-figure contract from the White Sox. Yasmani Grandal’s four-year, $73-million deal is the biggest in the history of Jerry Reinsdorf’s franchise. Before the 2016 Futures Game at Petco Park in San Diego, a White Sox coach was asked if his team had any talented teenagers at their Arizona complex who would be invited to this showcase in the next few years. “We did have one,’’ he said. “But we just traded him.’’ Then the coach went on to effusively praise Fernando Tatis Jr., whom the White Sox had signed as a 16-year-old in 2015. He described him as a complete package, with confidence and a sense of maturity to go with his speed-power tools. James Shields Trade Worked Out For Fernando Tatis Jr. And Padres — But Not For White Sox (forbes.com)
  14. Uh-oh. Here we go again...about Sox getting out scouted by Preller.
  15. Like Crochet going down to injury and Robert OPSing around 675-725 for the remainder of the season. That alone would set the so-called rebuild back by another year ALONE...without that Bobby Witt foundational player to build the franchise around. The obvious problem is that Moncada, Robert, Jimenez, Kopech and even Giolito were supposed to be those core pieces. Rodon, too, and Anderson. Although they were the first wave.
  16. He will argue that Mendick had a better overall chance against Harder than the LH Colas.
  17. It is creating a lot more parity in the very middle tier of baseball. At least 70-75% of teams at least have a puncher's chance going into the season, if not 80%.
  18. WNBA is 8/12. 67% Can't believe that will go up to 9-10 playoff teams with additions of Golden State and Toronto the next two seasons.
  19. Such as our very own play by play...
  20. https://www.mlb.com/player/romy-gonzalez-663853 27 680 ops would be a stud on White Sox lol. Certainly good enough to play for a team well above .500 and competing for a WC spot from the dreaded AL East. Leave it to the White Sox to be trotting guys like Sheets, Benintendi and Nicky Lopez out there instead.
  21. Speaking of...where the heck Is Balta?
  22. Clevinger being put on notice for scuzziest pro player in town, lol...one owner in common, at least he's consistent. Wil Cordero and Brett Myers, come on down. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Caruso and Coby White the main reasons to watch the Bulls over the past couple of seasons???
