Pirates seem to have a lot of momentum...crowd support on their side for the moment. -

TB pitching coaches can fix him lol. I mean...the White Sox are just lighting money on fire the last two years. Would much rather have 5-6 lottery tickets with live arms than whatever it is we have now. Between Leury, Kimbrel/Rodon, Kelly, Diekman, Harrison, Andrus (2023)... -

Still trying to distract from the Sox players' struggles even from the broadcast booth/studio. -

https://www.si.com/mlb/athletics/news/shintaro-fujinami-as-advertised-in-first-spring-start $3.25 million Currently throws 95-98 mph. Has held TB without a run in the first 3+. Sad we're getting outscouted by the freaking A's simply due to geographic proximity. Man, the Rays are going to be tough to beat this year...not the greatest level of competition from opponents so far but they have a really good vibe around that team going now and just keep rolling along. -
Rowand/Crede...Durham?

That last sentence sounds like the kiss of death. Might as well be Bruce Chen… -

4/5 is expecting a lot with the rotation in tatters...even if it is "just" Pittsburgh on the road. The next seven series are against teams better than the Sox or expected by the majority of prognosticators to be better. The let up after all that is at Cincy, and even the Reds can be extremely dangerous at home. 15-18 coming out of April is looking like it's going to be an uphill battle at the moment. Yeah looking back it's incredible the 1989 team was so poorly attended when it was the most interesting and exciting collection of talent in my lifetime and almost took down the A's. 1990 was the new park...and someone like Sax or Cory Snyder that inevitably disappointed. Trading Sosa for Bell too...at least they still had Wilson Alvarez and Scooter Fletcher lol. Baines trade/s. I distinctly remember talking to Carlos Martinez through picnic screen down at field level in left. Should have heckled KW in CF or at 3B.

Avi Garcia...failed to ever become extension worthy Drafts Keon Barnum Kennyn Walker Trayce Thompson LAD/Luis Gonzalez/Micker Adolfo/Steele Walker/Alex Call hanging on in WSH Carson Fulmer Zack Collins Nick Madrigal Courtney Hawkins Burger (miracle he even made big leagues after what he had to overcome physically) Z. Burdi Garrett Crochet (injured, was always a question if he could stand up to starting duty from draft day) Vaughn (jury still out) Rodon and TA7 and Sale...the three main successes Let's not get into second round draft picks lol. Barren wasteland.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance White Sox are going to end up bottom 8 in attendance this year if they don't finish April over .500. 1998-99 were their last two attendance years in the 1.3-1.4 million range. We went 1.6 million in 2021 to 2.0 million last year and it's inevitably going to fall at least back to 1.4-1.5 million with how angry and frustrated the fans are with the ownership and front office at this point. http://www.espn.com/nba/attendance Meanwhile the Bulls as the #10 team in the East are leading the NBA in attendance at roughly 20,502 per game (roughly 1.68 million if extrapolated out for 82 games) . Cash cow.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/attend.shtml 1987-89 the three worst attendance seasons then the huge jump back up with the memorable 1990 team under Torborg
-
Coming into this season he was ranked somewhere around 11-13 in the SS/positional rankings... Maybe in terms of hype/national attention/video game covers/batting title/Field of Dreams walkoff, etc. Marketing/recognition Top 30.

Ozzie: Sox had stolen Astros' signs in 2005
caulfield12 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hard Art Kusyner...Man Soo Lee and maybe Joey Cora would have been the three likeliest stealing signs that year. Other problems: Ozzie or Baines? Walker? Or just another case of talking out of both sides of his mouth? -

https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ct-sullivan-big-hit-baseball-spt-0910-20170909-column.html On Joe Nossek and Sox sign-stealing (2017 article) Chicago White Sox (1984–86; 1990–2003). He then became a scout for the Houston Astros. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/ozzie-guillen-says-the-white-sox-had-the-astros-signs-in-2005-world-series/3114855/ Seems to be more a case of bragging the White Sox didn't need the Astros' later technological advantages (2017) to win with human intelligence back in the 2000's. -

Colome 0.0 fear the last season plus. Diminishing returns nearly every year over the last 6-7. Look at the overall trend line. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/alex-colome/6661/stats?position=P

Longest-tenured Sox during Hahn Regime. Return for the disappointing Alex Rios KW Gamble.
-
Well the only argument there is those players succeeding shows they are undervalued/developed by the Sox. But kinda the opposite of when all the Yankees and Dodgers prospects back in the day got so much press but almost never turned into anything. But were invaluable trade commodities for finishing pieces.

https://soxmachine.com/2022/07/2022-white-sox-draft-recap-its-an-arms-race-for-mike-shirley/ Unfortunately it's going to take 3-5 years for that #28 (in of bonus pool avail) 2022 draft to bear any fruit. That will be too late for the competitive window to be extended...if it hasn't already closed.
-
How is it even politics when those authoritarian governments don't provide anything more than sham elections and opposition parties are banned lol? The moderating team must absolutely LOVE you...do they still even respond?
-
And hire a scouting director who understands how to draft pitching...that would be quite helpful.
-
Boris Johnson or Yeltsin? Boris and Natasha? Becker? Just joking. And Moncada's days are numbered with that contract. A rebuilding organization doesn't have the budget to carry that line item on the payroll.
