  1. https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/story/2023-02-27/dodgers-gavin-lux-right-knee-inury-spring-training-andrew-friedman Looks like Trayce Thompson making Dodgers as weak side platoon CFer. Opportunity to trade a spare 2B as a Gavin Lux replacement.. EDIT: No way they trade TA7 to the Dodgers, but maybe Andrus "Miguel Vargas (JAN ADP 264 → FEB ADP 225) Vargas fits the profile of another type of player that typically climbs up the draft board as we get closer to March – talented young prospect whose outlook for playing time has been solidified. Early in the draft season, there was thought that the Dodgers would land a big name free agent shortstop to replace Trea Turner. When that didn't happen and the team committed to playing Gavin Lux at shortstop, it opened up the second base job for Vargas. The 23-year-old struggled in his 50 plate appearance sample during the 2022 season – but slashed a terrific .304/.404/.511 with 17 homers, 100 runs scored, 82 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 113 games at Triple-A. He'll hit at the bottom of the lineup, but with the Dodgers lineup being loaded once again it shouldn't ding his counting stats too much." Yahoo fantasy sports
  2. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/35749533/dodgers-gavin-lux-injures-knee-spring-training-game Trade Leury to Dodgers, get bacl 2-3 Top 100 prospects. If only...
  3. Ryan Sweeney. In all seriousness, he's got one more shot with the M's. They HAVE to compete now, so they can't afford to baby him along. Didn't he put up solid stats in AAA last year after he was sent down, then struggled yet again upon recall? Pollock doesn't come out like 2022, and Kelenic's cold again, all bets are off. Not sure why they would be playing Pollock in RF, though....that's idiotic. But Teoscar Hernandez must be even worse in RF, haven't watched him play a whole lot. Obviously the guy is a hitter, first and foremost.
  4. "Sánchez is still young and was identified as an intriguing prospect as a teenager. Baseball America considered him the #3 prospect in the Angels’ system going into 2015. Many years have passed since then but the southpaw threw 146 Double-A innings in 2019 with a 4.44 ERA and 3.40 FIP. After two mostly lost seasons, he didn’t quite match that production in 2022, but perhaps he will find better results now that he’s further removed from his lengthy absence." mlbtraderumors.com
  5. It's the White Sox. We know how this story plays out. That said, Sheets and Burger have negligible value to the rest of baseball...rebuilding teams aren't going to give up much to acquire a corner bat at a relatively advanced age. Burger and Sheets still have MORE value to the Sox (injury insurance) than they do to any other organization...unless that team has a defensive specialist to coach him up, so to speak. But the bat definitely plays. Unfortunately, that's only 1/3rd or 40% of the battle at 3B/1B/DH.
  6. Wouldn't count of that...still going to largely play out in the court of public opinion, and MLB has been fighting the last 20-30 years to increase female interest/participation which is passed on to children (via both parents).
  7. Moncada mere days from an unconditional release. That financial hit might even bite a bit for JR to swallow. Sarcasm meter extremely elevated.
  8. Colas' swing is picking up, lol? Or still slider speed like Big Hurt?
  9. Better be Pablo Ozuna or Craig Grebeck if (ever) honoring Sox utility guys.
  10. On August 11, 2013, the Rangers traded García to the Chicago White Sox as the player to be named later in the trade that sent Alex Ríos to Texas. He was then optioned to the Triple-A Charlotte Knights.[10] The White Sox promoted García on August 22.[11] In 20 games with Chicago in 2013, he hit .204 with 1 RBI and 6 SB. Basically about one month longer. Similar statistics in 2013 compared to 2022, though.
  11. Nine years flashed by quickly...leaving Leury the longest tenured somehow. https://www.mlb.com/news/jose-abreu-makes-astros-debut-at-spring-training “A lot of things were,” Abreu said when asked what was weird. “The colors of the jerseys were weird, the climate here in Florida is a little bit different [than the Cactus League] and a little bit weird and obviously, new teammates I’m just starting to get to know, but very fortunate and very appreciative of where I am at right now. It’s just the beginning.” As for Leury, Alex Rios trade seems like TWO decades ago...KW outsmarting himself going with ability/potential over actual performance.
  12. Looks like Cairo, Menechino and Narron out of work for now. McEwing to Cards' bench coach as favorite/prodigal son returns to Cardinal Nation.
  13. https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/white-sox-coach-jerry-narron-brings-an-impressive-aesthetic-to-lineup-cards/ Seemingly his only contributions for a former big league manager...
  14. The Mariners have big bats in Julio Rodríguez and Teoscar Hernández, a platoon situation between former Sox fan favorite AJ Pollock (for declining his option) and SoxTalk's/Harold's very own Jarred Kelenic and an athletic utility outfielder in Sam Haggerty...and just signed former Sox FA target Kole Calhoun on Friday. Next, I know former Roy Kyle Lewis was traded to AZ...same fate for Taylor Trammell? Nope. (Former Top 30 Milb prospect would merit a look by Sox if the wheels somehow fell off due to key injuries and a prospect/suspect trade could be consummated. Boatload of defensive talent and athleticism...swing and miss issues galore, though.) Crowded OF picture even with Haniger to SF as well. Doesn't even count Dylan Moore as super utility.
  15. Best long shot name to make each team's roster... "White Sox: RHP Edgar Navarro Navarro earned strong reviews for his 2022 Minor League season, during which he posted a 3.64 ERA and .188 average against over three different stops, along with 69 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings. But the non-roster invite has taken another step forward during the early stages of Spring Training, earning praise from manager Pedro Grifol. Describing Navarro as possessing “power stuff” with an “elite sinker,” Grifol was looking forward to seeing Navarro in Cactus League action. The White Sox have a number of candidates for one or two bullpen slots, and Navarro appears to be one of them." -- Scott Merkin https://www.mlb.com/news/2023-opening-day-roster-dark-horse-candidates
  16. Jerry Narron? Cairo? Zero Haseley talk this year so far. Below zero.
  17. Camp Cora to the rescue! Ventura improved D for 5 1/2 months and then everything went south.
  18. Well, the sportswriters are already pouring on with their "more of the same product" stories...new manager, same breakdowns, etc.
