  1. QUOTE (Cali @ May 12, 2009 -> 01:31 AM) Where is he now? I would guess preparing to get ready to pitch for Great Falls since he was at Bristol last year. He did well enough to bump up a rookie level.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 11, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) Evan, you interested in doing any interviews or anything? If so, I could probably set something up for you. Possibly. It depends on what day I go - based on my work schedule. If I have to go to the Saturday night game (which is probably the only chance I'll have), I have work at 5:00am the next morning and probably won't have much time to stick around. I'll want to head back since it'll be an hour drive home. When do you need to know by to set something up?
  3. I'd pretty much have the same team as you, Cali. Though I'd keep Carlos and Danks as my two current players. Replace Getz with Tyler Kuhn at 2B, I guess. Viciedo at DH. Quentin in RF. Shelby in LF. Pitching staff would be: John Danks Aaron Poreda Daniel Hudson Lucas Harrell Justin Cassel CL - Brian Omogrosso
  4. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 10, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) How does this guy have his own tv show? He is by far one of the biggest pieces of s*** out there. Well, that's nothing new. Olbermann is a jackass. He appeals to that base, which is why he still has a show. Though, that clip shows exactly why it's no wonder MSNBC's ratings are by far the lowest compared to the other major cable news networks.
  5. If my work schedule allows, I'm going to go see the Barons play West TN next week. It's about an hour drive, but well worth it getting to see a team that stacked.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ May 11, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) P.S. Can somebody teach me how to embed videos here? Hopefully I can explain this easily... Sorry if it's confusing. 1) Take the "embed" link from the video, and copy & paste it into your post. 2) Change "Post Options" from "HTML Off" to "HTML On - Auto Linebreak Mode" - "post options" is located under this text box, but above the optional post icons --> shouldn't be hard to find Then you're done. Just add your reply.
  7. I generally don't like Peter King, but any time you read something like that about your team, it makes you feel excited for next season (and beyond). I can see where King would get the notion that Cutler and Urlacher might not get along, but as long as we're winning, it won't matter. Also, I don't know about the rest of Bear Nation, but I'd rather see Bennett and Iglesias play than Rashied Davis. I don't care if Iglesias has trouble with the playbook or whatever might be wrong with Bennett, they'd still be better than "Hot Hands" Davis.
  8. If the guy is really asking for $50M, then f*** no, I'm not going to pay that. Now, I don't necessarily think he'll end up getting that much money, but the fact that Boras is asking for that upfront means he's still going to get an absurd amount. As good as this guy is supposed to be, there's no "unproven" player I'd pay that much for. That's just ridiculous. Give me Dustin Ackley and I'm fine with that.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ May 11, 2009 -> 01:40 AM) Woody Allen, Larry David: Whatever Works http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVi3zs_S96M (Is his hard on for Scarlett over, finally?) Anything Larry David is something I want to see.
  10. When I was watching the game, I sure as hell didn't think he meant to throw it behind Kinsler. Guess I (and just about everyone else) was wrong. I do love that he admitted it though.

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ May 8, 2009 -> 09:15 PM) I think I just realized why women on the Others are unable to have children... I think somehow, perhaps because of Jack, the hydrogen bomb goes off, and it fills the island with radiation. ...and because of the side effects from the radiation, women on the island are unable to bear live children. Interesting theory... However, I would think that if that was the case, wouldn't all of the people have a lot more side effects from radiation than just being unable to bear children?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 8, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) I have never been a Star Trek fan. I have never seen an entire episode of any Star Trek series. I have never seen a Star Trek movie. J.J. Abrams' Star Trek was beyond enjoyable. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen. I implore all non-fans of the series to check this out... it's awesome. Those of you who are, I presume you'll be putting the pants you s*** in in the washing machine when you return. What an awesome movie. This is how I am regarding Star Trek. I've never seen an episode of the show, but when I saw the trailer for this new movie, I kind of thought it looked good. Glad to hear it's worth seeing even for someone that knows nothing about Star Trek.
  13. Phenomenal game for Danks... Too bad we couldn't get him the win.
  14. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 9, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) Can we just nuke the state of New Jersey? Thank you... I'm sending to this some of my friends right now
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 8, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) 1.) Don't EVER listen to any Pistons blogs. ESPECIALLY any pertaining to Lebron. They're still pissed he scored like 27 straight on them in the playoffs. 2.) Lebron came into the league at like, what, 18? 19? He's still physically maturing. He's due to get stronger/bigger/faster/etc. That's how things go. Great points... To add to that, LeBron only weighs about 15 more lbs than he did in high school, which makes it reasonable to assume he added that weight/muscle normally. Yes, he's a lot more defined, but I'd say that's pretty normal going from a high school workout routine (if he even had one, which it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't since he's so naturally big) to a NBA-type workout routine. It's really not that surprising at all that he could look like that.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 8, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) I Want To Go To There. Sure thing...
  17. QUOTE (scenario @ May 8, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) I second the thought on picking up a catcher. In fact, if a really good one is available I'd consider using one of our first 5 picks. But I'd want one who has both offensive and defensive skills. As for Catchers... Tony Sanchez (Boston College) could be a good option for us with our supplemental pick. Or Carlos Ramirez (Arizona St) with one of our 2nd rounders. They both seem to be well-regarded defensively, while Sanchez is better offensively. I also wouldn't mind taking a chance on a high school Catcher like Austin Maddox since we have a couple extra picks. He's been described as a guy who is the epitome of boom/bust depending on his bat. I read somewhere that he could either be the best high school catcher in the last 20 years or out of baseball in a couple years. But, that's something I'd be willing to take a chance on.
  18. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 7, 2009 -> 08:17 PM) We could go in a lot of different directions this draft. Personally, if we could come out of the first 5 rounds with some of the following players, I'd be ecstatic: Kendall Volz (P - Baylor, round 1-2), Aaron Miller (OF - Baylor, round 2-3), Bobby Borchering (3B - Prep, round 1-2) also, if we could throw in a prep catcher who's very solid defensively and has some tools offensively, as well as adding a bunch of power arms like we did last year with Hudson and Carter, talk about turning one of the worst, if not the worst, farm systems into at least a top 10 one in a matter of about 2 years. I would really like Volz as well. His numbers aren't great, but when he's on, he's filthy. It looks like he just needs to develop some more consistency. Supposedly has a 97 MPH fastball and a plus slider at his best. Sounds good to me.
  19. QUOTE (rangercal @ May 5, 2009 -> 04:05 PM) I can honestly tell you, I would not trade Cutler straight up for Rodgers. Same here. And that's not the Bears fan in me talking. I've always been a big fan of Cutler (liked him more than Young or Leinart in '06), since he was tearing up at Vandy.
  20. Just finished my last Exam! So glad to be done. I had 6 finals over the last week (3 in the past 24 hours) - never gonna do that again. I haven't gone to bed since Saturday night and I'm about ready to crash... Sleep until ~5 and then off to the free Sister Hazel concert on campus tonight... Thank God for Summer!
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2009 -> 08:54 PM) The Bulls have NO ONE who can score in the lane if the refs are allowing a physical game to take place. Tonight was the perfect example. And FWIW, you can be a dominant post player and athletic. The two don't preclude each other. Can you say Chris Bosh? Let's bring him to Chicago in 2010.
  22. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ May 2, 2009 -> 06:31 PM) DR1 -- amazing block on jackie moon That's funny you say that b/c I called my brother after the camera showed Scalabrine getting off the bench, ripping off his warm-ups, and said he looks like Jackie Moon. Too funny.
  23. I'm sure it's not easy to find umpires (or afford them) at that level, so it's not too surprising. But, still, cool story nonetheless. Definitely not something you see every day.
  24. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 1, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) oh absolutely. and is it PC to say whigger? Just curious. Havent heard that term in 10 years. Good question. I've wondered that myself. I'd catagorize "whigger" with a term like "guido." Probably not PC to say it, but I don't think it would be that big of a deal if you happened to use a term like that in a conversation. Anyway, back to the thread... Just like to say that as much as I thought Rondo's punk ass should get suspended, you knew it wasn't going to happen. I really hope someone hard fouls the f*** out of Rondo tomorrow. And when I say "someone," I mean Aaron Gray or another scrub that won't affect the team's performance if he were to get thrown out of the game, for instance.
