I really wanted him to come out of that Chambers review and say, "San Diego should already be walking off the field with a win so we are giving them this call." -

Mississippi State and Auburn should not be allowed to play football anymore. That was pathetic. 3-2? What? -

Tennessee just isn't that good. Their offense is piss poor. Tennessee obviously had opportunities, but the Vols didn't put away a team with no offense in the first half. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 03:50 AM) It'd be neat to beat you guys. Jack Trice does weird things to Mizzou. I'm not jaded enough to think we have evenn a quarter of the talent that you guys do, but I'd like to think this worlds just crazy enough for me to be able to throw s*** at dan. I'm still bitter over the last game there. That just sucked. If Mizzou loses in Iowa State this year I'll streak all the way to Ames and you can slap my bare balls. It's not gonna happen. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 03:54 AM) for all that talent, I don't think we've ever had a recruiting class as high as some of yours the past years. Just a great coach who finds players who work in his system. Derrick Washington is going to be reeeallly good this year, however. And Weatherspoon and Willy Moore are just fantastic players. Yeah, the recruits weren't too highly rated, but a few were (Maclin, Daniel other than his height). The current freshman class was the best rated Mizzou has pulled in a long, long time. Should be fun to see those guys develop. Hopefully the good classes keep coming in and Mizzou can be a consistent 8-9 win team for a while. That would be more surprising than this 2-year stretch (assuming this year goes decently). Also, someone said something about Maclin being a sophomore. He redshirted his first year on campus due to an ACL tear so he is draft eligible by the year's end. I kinda want to see him leave because I think it would be the best move for him (considering the injury past) and I would hate to see him on a mediocre team. Besides, I'm graduating so I won't care as much lol. With Coffman, Moore, Daniel and a lot others gonna be gone, even with decent classes, they might only push 8 wins. Not that that is bad by any stretch for Mizzou, but Maclin's legend deserves better if that makes sense. It was a pretty crazy game to be at, despite the dome sucking ass. The atmosphere was better in the bathroom heh. Awesome tailgating before the game outside. Last year was nothing, this was really cool. Easy to get excited for the rest of the year after that. -

I'd be more impressed with Bolt than Phelps if Bolt was able to win the 400 as well. -

Who knew the US was this good in volleyball? Geez. Both golds on the beach and both in the gold medal match indoor. Also, stupid interview with the men's coach after that great match. It was 2-0 US and they almost lost, came down to a couple points, but 2 of the 3 questions about what happened to his in-laws. That's great journalism. We've already heard this story a billion times, but it's more important than what was probably the match of the Olympics for volleyball. -
To be fair to Beckham and Kanny, they faced Bumgarner who went top 10 a year ago and is torching the SAL.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 09:41 AM) As Costas was signing off on the NBC primetime coverage last night, he said that May/Walsh had the most impressive performance of the day in the Olympics. What a joke....I'd say that 19.30 seconds says otherwise. To be fair Bolt was the night before. In China they took place in different days. -
QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) Apples and Oranges, I know, but driving down to Florida a couple weeks back, I was listening to Sox@KC on XM with KC's call. After that, I recognized that what we have here is fine no matter how lame the catch phrases and homerisms are. And plus we have Ed Farmer which ought to make up for 1000 Chris Singletons, DJ's, or Hawks. (I love all three of em, but a lot of you don't). I think you were referring to radio, but Kansas City's TV booth is so, so boring. QUOTE (TCQ @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 12:03 AM) What if we hired carl yastremski to jus sit in the booth and not say a word, and put ventura next to him... Would hawks head explode, and if so would DJ be able to continue the broadcast covered in hawks brain juices...ideas? Hahaha, great freaking post.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 12:23 AM) You sons of b****es. I'm on extra tape delay out here and I stumbled into this thread only to get the volleyball ruined. Damn it. Well that was just stupid. -

Anyone see on the post-match interview May mouth "Call me later," to someone in the stands. Who wants odds on it being Jason Kidd? Haha, that whole story is slightly sketchy. Kidd is divorced, May idolized him. Just sayin'. -
Ventura to radio would be amazing. Keep him away from Hawk though, he would just constantly suck up to Robin during games.

Coughlin is definitely attractive. Johnson has normal sized teeth in a smaller body, looks weird. I just saw the high bar performance from Horton. I hate to be wine about it, but I think he got robbed. The Chinese guy had a great performance, but Horton's blew me away. -

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) and don't forget these girls are 13 years old, which is already unfair. I don't see why their age matters. It's stupid that they wouldn't allowed to compete because of age in the first place. What I love about the tiebreaker is Nastia lost basically because she got judged more consistently. That's almost exactly how it played out. -
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 05:04 PM) It's based off scouting reports and stats. I kept track of him since his senior year of high school when the Sox tried to draft him, but ended up at Texas anyway. As a 7th round pick, he's not much of a reach and there are way worse picks that could be made(Like the Sox 2nd round pick), but the contract he was given was not that of a 7th rounder, as a pure guess. Therefore, overpaid as well. Stop yourself. To call him a reach in the 7th round proves you have zero baseball knowledge regarding this topic and are just bitter over something else. To say Danks isn't that good is one thing, but to call him a reach in the 7th round is just dead wrong.

As long as it isn't the Racers. We already have the Intimidators in the system. I don't think I could root for a franchise with such strong ties for racing/NASCAR in its minor league system.
-
I was somewhat on board and rooting for it before I paid attention to the facilities and costs of these Olympics. I'm now a believer that it would be such a drain.
-
He's quite lanky, but I don't see too much power coming from that swing. He has the body for the power if he fills out, but he wasn't trying for it when I saw him.
-
Feel the power of Slayer. It would be sick if he could start next year in AA. I'm getting ahead of myself, but it's more fun this way haha.

That was a great at-bat from Juan Uribe. Go figure.

Great start, but before we get excited look at the ERAs of the pitchers he has faced.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 12:27 AM) Ha, Steve's man-crush Horton won't medal. Maybe he should have focused less on the camera and more on his routines? Maybe you should stop constantly b****ing about American gymnastics. We get it. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 12:59 PM) This doesn't mean I love you any less, but I'm tired of you complaining about America in this thread with nothing to back it up. Yes, that. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 01:00 PM) As for the "fake" play by play thing, it's been going on for several years now. It's a good way to save money, and the technology of HDTV makes it possible to do. I don't think it's a big deal. Yeah, ESPN has been doing it with Champions League for a while now. It doesn't bother me. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) I see your point with the Cubs/Sox comparison, but that pales into comparison with the Olympics. It's the single greatest sporting event in the world. I have yet to see ANY coverage on soccer, very little on water polo, nothing on handball, and numerous other sports. But I suppose as long as Michael Phelps, Misty May, Kerri Walsh, and Johnathan Horton are competing...it's much more important than anything else. Horton hasn't gotten near the coverage of the others you named. Phelps is the story of the Olympics and May/Walsh have won over 100 matches in a row. It's all about ratings and soccer doesn't get ratings in America. USA has had a lot of the stuff you mentioned. If you are only watching NBC, it's your own fault.
