QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 1, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) could easily happen if Klinsmann doesnt scrap the stupid 4-4-2 diamond. He wanted to put Davis and Zusi on the squad because theyre good at crossing but he bunches them up in the middle. Of course neither is great at their defensive responsibilities so we're even more exposed when the LB/RB push up. No creativity either in the midfield. It's too bad there isnt someone who could be creative that was left off the squad. And Green? lol, GTFO with that selection. He has no business playing on the US team, let alone a WC team right now. Just isnt ready. No doubt in my mind that he was promised a spot when he declared. We're two weeks from the first match and Jurgen is still trying to feel out what works with this roster. Are you kidding me?? I'm starting to get the feel of 2006 all over again. The Green guaranteed spot didn't bother me because I don't think he will play anyway, but I'm starting to think he took Donovan's spot. He also looked pretty bad today. Definitely has some upside, he is well advanced for his age, but far from ready. (Sidenote, I'm really, really liking the potential for the 2018 squad). The big problem with the squad is something that Jurgen can't help: the US doesn't have two solid centerbacks. I like Besler and I used to really like Gonzalez, but Omar seems to be good for one or two mishaps per game. Can't do that at a World Cup. As a result, Cameron is forced to move from RB to CB. I know Cameron might be better as a CB, but considering the opposition in our group a RB that is more defensive would be fine. With Cameron out of the fullback pool we only really have one solid fullback, Fabian Johnson. As a result, Beasley or Chandler are looking to start. If we could put Beasley or Fabian as a left mid, that would help out the lack of depth at that spot. Instead, Brad Davis is on the roster and Graham Zusi is forced to play wide instead of centrally. Bottom line, the squad isn't good enough so any weird lineup decisions we will see on matchday, won't be because Jurgen is a mad man, but rather because he doesn't have quality players at every spot no matter who he picked or what formation he uses.

I don't see the US getting out of their group either. Could easily see them taking last in the group.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 30, 2014 -> 11:13 AM) Since Watch Dogs sounds like a bust (maybe I'll get it at $20-25), I decided to buy the Last of Us expansion DLC, Left Behind. Anyone else play it? Only a couple hours in, but it's very reminiscent of the original game, which is a good thing. I got sucked back into that world pretty quickly. Left Behind is very good. After the original game I wasn't sure I wanted to see a sequel or anything else, but seeing the DLC flesh out some other story details I definitely want more. I only hope a sequel could be as good because that's a tough act to follow. If you're a couple hours into the DLC you should be about done though. Don't let the internet hate on Watchdogs turn you off. It's a fun game with some unique tools. I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 28, 2014 -> 06:57 AM) Also, aside from the Chicago River, Willis Tower, and the John Hancock, it's a fairly unrecognizable version of the city. Hey! The map says I'm in Rogers Park... This doesn't look like Rogers Park... That's not exactly a reasonable complaint over a video game. The effort it would take for a street for street portion of a city to be remade is simply not realistic and only Chicagoans are going to complain so it's not worth the extra effort for them. The driving is pretty bad though. Why they mapped brake and reverse to the same button is beyond me. I do love the hacking idea and what it opens up. I will happily sink tons of hours into this game.

QUOTE (southside hitman @ May 28, 2014 -> 03:34 PM) If anyone is curious/interested about what the job entails, feel free to message me and I would love to answer any questions you have. Ha, don't make it sound like a real job. If it's not fun, don't do it. If someone thinks they would enjoy this, they can take a crack at it. If it sounds like a chore, don't do it. That simple.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 26, 2014 -> 10:16 AM) BTW, Kilnsmann's kid is a class A asshole. If you mised his tweet before his account was deleted He's not an asshole, he's a teenager. This is what a significant number of them do. -

Man, that Champions League final result really pisses me off. It would have been cool to see someone different win the Champions League. Atletico works so damn hard when they play and did so again today. Just didn't have enough in the tank. Real Madrid are such villains, too. Sergio Ramos is one of the nastiest players in the game and he's the one to get the equalizer. Marcelo and Coentrao are also assholes when they play. On top of that, Bale gets the lucky winner despite a really poor match overall. I like Bale, but he didn't deserve that today. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ May 22, 2014 -> 06:11 PM) I guess LD shouldve been born in Germany... Jurgen better win atleast a game or it may be hot seat time for him after some of these selections. But I'm guessing he's been assured 2018 with some of these picks of unproven players. He already signed a contract extension through 2018 unfortunately. There's no chance Donovan isn't one of the best 23 players the US can pick from. He may not be in his prime, but Brad Davis is on the roster. I mean, c'mon. Brad freaking Davis, a one trick pony. The US is going to get rocked this summer (was going to happen anyway) and now we have to suffer through Klinsmann talking s*** on his players for four more years. It was an ego thing. Klinsmann wanted Donovan to jump through hoops and Donovan wouldn't do it so he cut him. Personally, I'd rather have Donovan than Klinsmann. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2014 -> 02:47 PM) Trayce 0-2 with 2K....hard to consider him a prospect now, as he's having a horrible season. He had a solid April and he's slumping in May. Horrible season is a bit harsh. As for Danish, he's probably going to suffer a bit in Winston-Salem because that defense is awful and he's a groundball pitcher.

In fairness to Blatter, he never supported the Qatar World Cup bid as far as I've read. This is just the first time he's said something so blatantly against it. -
LeBron destroy Pierce's wrist to force him to lose the ball. How do you not hear that as a ref? Ha, they give Brooklyn the ball. They saw that foul and gave the Nets the ball. That works.

Oh my does this game look great. I love some of the side games they've got.
-
It's official. Tyler Danish is by far the most overrated prospect in the system. Geez.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) In true Mr. Pessimism form, this has been a bad year for Sox prospects. Two shocking busts so far this year in Davidson and E. Johnson. It's not just you. The system truly blows again. Good thing they have a high pick in the draft to hopefully get a few good prospects. There's a lot more stock down guys than stock up guys and a lot of guys graduated to thin the ranks a bit, too.

The screenshots of The Show of actual gameplay are quite impressive. I won't be buying it, but I love seeing pretty games like this.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 6, 2014 -> 12:21 AM) I'm gonna get MLB: The Show or Second Son as a "finished this semester" gift to myself. Recommendations on which one? Second Son won't last you as long. Even if you do both good and bad playthroughs it's 20 hours. It's great fun, but not earth shattering. A sports game will always last longer if that's what you're going for.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 5, 2014 -> 03:56 PM) Liverpool just had the most incredible of collapses. Unbelievable. Looks pretty certain City is going to win the EPL again In fairness, it already looked pretty likely. Man City wasn't going to blow either of those home games. -
Hopefully Johnson can be back with the Sox within a month. They desperately need him to be a competent starting pitcher.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 09:35 PM) Melo mania starts now. Oh please no. I wouldn't be able to root for a team with Carmelo on it and the Bulls wouldn't be any better for it.
-
8 offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter for Washington. The Bulls flat out embarrassed themselves in this series. The bad scoring is one thing, but bad rebounding means this team was worse than it was throughout the season. I don't know how people still support Thibodeau.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 01:10 PM) Dear sweet lord of everything that is beautiful, please let City beat Everton this weekend Pick your poison, eh? -
Anybody else see Mark Jackson saying fans should boycott Game 5? I wish he wouldn't say that because it would directly benefit his team in basketball terms. If Barkley or some other analyst or another owner/coach/player said that, fine. However, Jackson seems like he is taking advantage of the situation to benefit his team. Maybe he is being genuine, but it's impossible to separate the two.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 10:17 PM) I don't recall ever seeing a post saying I demand a high risk high reward guy. Is that what Walker was when Sox drafted him? Or was he just a bad choice for #1 supplemental round? Sounds like you are defending somebody. Seriously? Most supplemental picks don't even make the Majors.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 08:24 PM) I wish American sports has relegation. That's usually way more fun that who wins the title. I kind of agree, although it's pretty unthinkable in a lot of ways. It would drastically change things like the trade deadline, which would likely become a nonevent. Relegation is always interesting because the teams are usually more closely bunched and all it takes is a couple wins to turn things around whereas a title run you can win 5 in a row and not gain any ground at all. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 03:31 PM) Haven't we kinda already been saying that for him for a couple years now? Yes, and as a first baseman it's very tough to make it. How about Joey DeMichele today though? He was 10-60 entering tonight's game and went 5-5 with 2 doubles, a homer and two stolen bases to boot. Scored five runs for a Dash record. Good for him. He's really faded off the prospect radar, but maybe there's still some life in him.
