  1. ...Valido remains. BRILLIANT!!
  2. The Barons would also host 4 of the possible 5 divisional games if they win both halves.
  3. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 01:53 PM) Well..... we suck ass lol. We have David Price (who is amazing) but he will be gone soon. Also our #1 starter went to AA, and #2 is getting Tommy John Surgery, and our #3 is out for the year too. Tough season... Well, if B'ham faces Montgomery in the divisional round, I may take you up on that offer.
  4. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) Bobby Jenks will be starting tonight against the team i work for! He will be arriving today and pitching the 1st inning against the Montgomery Biscuits!!! I will try and get down to the clubhouse and meet him! Also Esteban Loazia is starting tomm. Should be a fun couple of days. What's he gonna do? Teach them acoustic guitar?
  5. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 01:38 PM) He has... He will be starting on Thursday this week against the Biscuits. If you ever drive down to the area hit me up, and i can get you some free tickets to a game. Well, they may meet in the playoffs...

Should be a fun couple of days. Lucky...The Barons have to be out of town of course. Even though I know it's just down 65, but I have to work. Please don't tell me that Esteban has been sent to B'ham?
  7. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 12:59 AM) The W-S was a continuation. Nope, it was a scheduled game.
  8. FYI...Valido has 20 errors this year, mostly throwing. He doesn't have the arm strength for SS anymore. Schnurstein has bailed him out a few times to save an error. Plus, he doesn't dive for balls at all. He has alligator arms.
  9. And, can we get back Gio Gonzalez?
  10. Beane would probably want David Cook. Power and patience...
  11. Not John Shelby! NOOOOOOO! I'm glad I already got Aaron Poreda's autograph. Could we at least get Aaron Cunningham back?
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 10:46 PM) They were grooming him for the pen, IIRC. Rodriguez has a very live arm and is one of the few relievers in our system that I consider a "prospect". Others include Omogrosso (very good live arm, although he was starting in Bham and I thought he got hurt but I honestly haven't been paying a ton of attention to his stats as of late). Omogrosso has been fighting a lingering blister problem all season. He's on his second DL stint because the blisters on his throwing hand won't heal.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) Just got Twittered (not as dirty as it sounds). Cowley reporting Jenks is throwing without pain and will go on a rehab assignment tomorrow, and should be back by Friday. One game with W-S on Monday and one game with B'ham on Wednesday. The Barons are out of town on Wednesday, so I won't get to see Jenks in person.
  14. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) Birmingham beat Carolina 5-3 Decent outing for Harrell. Very decent considering it's his first AA start since coming off the DL. 5 innings; 3 runs on 7 hits; 6K's; and 3 BB's. Link picked up the win. Check out the season stats for Link. 5 Wins - 1 Loss; 1.69 ERA; 26 saves; 0 homeruns allowed; .208 BAA 37 innings pitched; 36 K's; 16 BB's Nanita and Schnurstein each went 2-4 Javier Colina went 1-3 and had 2 RBIs. Two of the runs Harrell gave up were on an in between blooper that Victor Mercedes dived for and almost caught.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) Richmond @ Charlotte, 6:15pm CT, Broadway (8-4, 3.75) goes for the Knights Carolina @ B-Ham, 7:05pm CT, Lucas Harrell (2-0, 1.38) tries to continue his dominant comeback from injury for the Barons Winston-Salem @ Kinston, 6:00pm CT, Ely (3-9, 5.07) tries to fight off his collapse for the Intimidators Kanny @ Rome, 6:00pm CT, no starter announced yet Bristol @ Greeneville, 5:00pm CT, no starter announced yet Great Falls @ Ogden, 8:00pm CT, no starter announced yet Got my fingers crossed for Harrell, he's had bad luck with injuries since his promotion to B'ham back in 2006.
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) Just got Twittered (not as dirty as it sounds). Cowley reporting Jenks is throwing without pain and will go on a rehab assignment tomorrow, and should be back by Friday. With whom? B'ham is off for three days after tonight, and Charlotte is off for three days after Sunday. It would have to be W-S since they already had their all-star break.
  17. QUOTE (forrestg @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 11:26 AM) How good is his defensive skills and handling of pitchers.. Can he throw out base stealers.. I can't find much info on him. Solid defensively, cannon for an arm. Hardly any past balls, wild pitches or stolen bases off of him when I saw him in B'ham. Plus, he has good power from the left side. Not a great hitter for average though.
  18. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) Richmond @ Charlotte Whisler pitching Knights win 8-2 Carolina @ Birmingham Day pitching Barons lose 4-3 Nice outing for Dewon Day Then Ryan O'Malley came in and threw the game away. Winston-Salem lost to Frederick 8-4 Kannapolis @ Columbus Maxwell pitching Game suspended due to rain in the 3rd inning Great Falls @ Orem Dexter Carter pitching Bristol @ Princeton Both ends of a double-header rained out. Dang, Bristol's been rained out like four days in a row. They must have to make up 5 or 6 games.
  19. He's a hell of a nice guy by the way, very friendly.
  20. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 08:02 PM) Charlotte is hosting a double-header tonight against Rochester (Twins AAA team) Richard is pitching the first game and the Knights are up 3-1 in the 5th. Egbert is pitching the second game Birmingham lost to Carolina 3-1 despite a nice start by Cassel. Winston-Salem is losing to Frederick 3-0 in the 7th. Kannapolis is beating Columbus 6-1 in the 7th. Great Falls @ Orem Rosario starting Bristol @ Princeton Postponed due to rain B'ham had to face Brett Sinkbeil, plus they looked sluggish. Morning game after a night game. A two Powerade game for sure, it was so damn hot...
  21. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) JPN, You seen Jon Link quite a few times... how ready do you think he is to get a look for the Sox bullpen if we need to bring someone up from the minors? (I figure since we've brought relievers up from AA before... that shouldn't seem out of the question.) I'd say he needs to pitch against AAA hitters before he were to be called up to the majors. All I know is he's been lights out for the Barons. He's about 25 for 27 or 28 in save chances and he's only given up 6 runs all year. To be honest, I'm surprised he hasn't been promoted yet.
  22. QUOTE (quickman @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 12:40 PM) whats the status of DJ Carrasco? Active and in long relief.
  23. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) I could picture Pablo ending up in St. Louis. You took the words right out of my mouth. LaRussa must be foaming at the mouth to get him. Although, the Angels could be a good fit too.
  24. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 12:46 PM) So if nobody claims him and he accepts a minor league assignment we can keep him, right? There isn't room for him in Charlotte either. He's better off going to a team that needs a utility guy.
  25. I don't care for the limbo of DFA. Doesn't seem fair to the player to leave them hanging for up to 10 days. Why not just release them outright? In Ozuna's case, that's the likely end result anyway.
