QUOTE (quickman @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) does anyone have any real data on this or is this just rumor? It was announced on the Knights radio broadcast last night. That is why Richard didn't start for Charlotte like scheduled.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) Barons playoffs, who cares?? I for one could care less about the overall success of the minor league teams. Well, I'll just go burn my playoff tickets then.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) What kind of schedule does Danks look to be on? Should he move through the system pretty quickly? If Beckham and Danks can help the Barons in the playoffs, then send 'em here.

QUOTE (KyKyGruber @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 02:07 PM) why not ? Dewon Day can take care of the duties for the Barons. jk. i hate dewon day, i guess he can be an example of a pitcher not ready for the big leagues. That's not funny.

Just read that Jason Childers will be moved into the rotation for Charlotte, so that probably means Clayton Richard is taking over for a player going on the DL.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 01:37 PM) JPN, please don't tell me you are trying to make a case for the Barons post season run being more important than him being called up to the bigs? Since the front office and Aaron himself do not feel he's ready, then yes. Not more important, just where he needs to be development wise. Plus, he's not on the 40 man roster anyway. Besides, the Barons playoff run could be over by September 7th.

Sergio Miranda was promoted to Winston-Salem and Beckham took his spot with Kannapolis. No word on who's spot with the Warthogs Miranda took. I'll find out later. Edit: Catcher Billy Killian was placed on the DL to make room for Miranda.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 11:31 PM) If the Sox call up Poreda on September 1st, and he stays on until the 30th, does his clock start? Poreda...Barons...Playoffs.

QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 05:23 AM) W-S beats Wilmington Paulo Orlando has gone deep in two games against his former team since we traded him. In 3 games with his new team he's 7-14 with 3 2B, 1 3B, 2HR and a paltry 1.816 OPS Retherford 1-4 2B His first three games with Wilmington have been against Winston-Salem in Winston-Salem. Seems like he wasn't happy about being traded.

My guess is that Broadway starts tomorrow, then after the game is optioned back to Charlotte and Richard pitches in that spot next time through the order. With Clayton going up, Charlotte is short a starting pitcher. So I doubt any relievers or Wise will go to Charlotte. Unless somebody is going on the DL.
-
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 01:00 AM) Is there a valid source? I heard on the Knights broadcast he was called up, if that is what you're asking. That is why he was scratched from his start with Charlotte tonight.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 10:47 PM) Maybe for D. Wise? Charlotte has plenty of outfielders, but that is possible. I'd say Broadway better pitch well or it's him after he starts.
-
...no word on who's place he's taking or a corresponding roster move.

Gordon "Slayer" Beckham Signs for 2.6 Million

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) Roto says he will report to Kanny, but they link the article at WhiteSox.com, where there is no mention of that. A couple of guys were promoted from Bristol to Kanny, so I imagine one of them will be sent back. -
QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 12:15 AM) .323 BA in his last 10 games. Sell high!!! Before he wakes up. I don't think I could stomach him making a crucial error in one of the Barons playoff games. I can see it coming. Funny story...the promotions guy for the Barons said he can tell the difference between a season ticket holder and a casual fan by their reaction to a Valido error. Casual fans react dramatically whilst season ticket holders just nod knowingly.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 12:08 AM) I was just talking about pitching with the White Sox, had he not been called up he would've been in the clear and his last 2 starts with the Sox weren't good at all. Yeah, by being called up, he became ineligible for the Olympics.
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 10:20 AM) PTBNL Valido! Valido! Valido! His stock has never been higher, 3 HR & 27 RBI. He'd defy logic and become a stud for the Pirates.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 10:03 PM) Stupendous. Get your ass to Kannapolis, Slayer. IF he gets assigned, and that is a big IF, he would most likely be sent to Bristol. Lowest profile to get an idea of what he can do. They have open roster spots. More than likely, he will not be assigned and will be sent to the Arizona Fall League.
-
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 10:32 PM) Ouch. If I was him I'd much rather be at the Olympics after the last 2 starts he's had. He's back in Charlotte's rotation and is scheduled to pitch tomorrow. He pitched last Friday against Pawtucket.
-
His status on MiLB.com is "Traded" so I think this is true. If he goes to Chicago, then it's the demise of Wise.
-
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 05:53 PM) Me too. Do we have any other players like Andy Gonzalez where the Indians would be interested in them and Sox fans would love to see them go? Robert Valido.
-
QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:38 PM) I watched Dewon this year, and wow. He might be the worst pitcher ever. Feast or famine basically.

Lucas Harrell looked real sharp tonight. Lots of grounders early, then K's later on.
-
FYI...two roster spots have opened up at Bristol. Danks and Beckham perhaps?

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 12:28 AM) Rumor is that Broadway will start on Thursday. If that's true, then shame on this organization. Possibly. Clayton Richard was added back to the Charlotte rotation, so somebody would have been bumped anyway. Broadway and Getz can go up, because the White Sox need another utility infielder, Horacio Ramirez can be activated and Wise can go back to Charlotte. Seems likely to me. Although Poreda is possible because Clevelan Santeliz was skipped over for his start in Winston Salem yesterday. He might be promoted to B'ham to take Poreda's spot.
