  1. I'm glad people decided to debate the "potential" of him signing with us when many of us constantly stated we had no chance. My odds did go from 1:1,000,000 to 1:1,000 - so I'll give you guys that.
  2. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 3, 2017 -> 03:45 PM) Craig Mish @CraigMish Source : Stanton trade expected to be finalized in the next 2-3 days. Who dat b
  3. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 3, 2017 -> 04:57 AM) There you go again. Southsider has to weave politics into another SoxTalk thread. Yea, it's pretty low-brow IMO. Dare I say, p***? Pthhh.
  4. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Dec 3, 2017 -> 04:25 AM) His batted ball profile isn't that different from 2015-16 so I don't know what you guys are Dam8610 is talking about. His exit velocity went down too, from 104 to 90 mph last season so it wasn't like he was hitting the ball harder. Fixed that for ya there... you may want to clarify with him as "you guys" does not equal the user Dam8610.
  5. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 3, 2017 -> 02:17 AM) Are you only looking at BABIP? Because in looking at the underlying data, that is the only way you could come to that conclusion. His entire contact profile changed this year, he pulled the ball more, made less soft contact than at any point in his career by noticeable amounts, and his strikeout rate dropped dramatically, both from his career norm and throughout the season. Avi is a player who I think will experience significant regression in 2018, but I expect to see positive regression in the power and walk numbers as much as I expect the negative average regression everyone is worried about. I wouldn't be surprised if those regressions offset and he became a 4 WAR player again next year with a much different statline. We just said the same exact thing in different words.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 10:40 PM) Even if that was gobbledygook to those who don't speak standard deviations, the conclusion is "you have a 1/1000 or worse chance of putting up that kind of season if you're not actually a really good hitter". Summary enough? Seems to me that your response qualifies more so for gobbledygook than CaliSoxFanViaSWside's original post. I partially wanted to point this out just because gobbledygook is oh so fun to say... so... gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook. gobbledygook! GOBBLEDYGOOooooooooK!!!!!
  7. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 09:30 PM) To me it's fun even more so now than when I was challenging everyone about Avi. At least now a few have converted. Next year if he doesn't get traded a few more probably twice as many with 2 good seasons in a row. I will say this, it's always surprised me by how fast people where willing to write him off. My stance was to ride it out and see what happens. That's still my approach and I speculate we'll see some regression next year that will be neutralized by an increase in power production. Should that happen, I don't need to see anything else and would want him extended on a four year deal with two team options for years 5 and 6.

  9. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 08:34 PM) Get hyped. Like... Buhh... but there's not gonna be any established veterans on the next contending team.... Buhh.... like... really buhh.... that was badass, Buhh.
  10. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) Non-White Sox fans find our franchise boring, forgettable, and irrelevant all the time... How do you "know" this?
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 07:31 AM) Think Hahn mentioned Soxtalk in his presentation?
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 06:02 AM) Castillo plays an important position, is actually a good player, and he's not on his last legs. Refreshing signing. We WILL have some veteran players on our next contending team after all!!! Wowzers!!!!!!!!
  13. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 12:36 AM) No silly. Athletic supporter! https://m.dickssportinggoods.com/p/century-...acntrythltcsthr That was an awful awful attempt at comedy. Keep tryin mate. ???‍♂️
  14. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 11:39 PM) Athletic supporter? Do you mean Cardinals? I'm just a nerd.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 11:20 PM) Just looking through his twitter history and the way he’s trolling the national writers on getting this one right. And the fact he has almost no followers yet he’s been dropping rumors across multiple sports for a long period of time. If he had sources, people would have caught on by now and started following him. I’ve seen other “insiders” exhibit the same behavior before and they were quickly proven to be frauds. I’m just speculating though. Ah - well that certainly seems like a douche to me as well then. ?
  16. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) Rick Hahn on his strategy approaching Winter Meetings Dec. 11-14: "I would characterize our strategy as secretive." https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/936698337675431936 Well that surely is cryptically exciting beyond words. Makes me want it to be the 11th already!
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 10:50 PM) Dude is a total fraud IMO and got lucky on this one. My guess is he deletes the tweets where he can be proven wrong. Why do you think he's a "total fraud?"
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 09:22 PM) Hmmm, he's 30 and had a good year last year. We have him for 3 years. Should this give me hope we will keep Abreu? If Castillo is part of the plan, why not a similarly aged guy in Abreu, who had double his RBIs? I won't comment much on things I know little about and I don't know Castillo much. I'm assuming he's a nice addition cause his defense is pretty good from what I've read. But he's very old by today's standards. This gives me hope again that we might have some vets around for the WS contending years, which means Abreu and the still young Avi. I'm all for speeding up the winning process and Castillo's profile suggests winning now or soon. He's no spring chicken. Or ... this could mean we will merely trade him this winter for more pieces. Where you got the idea that the next WS contender will have no established veteran ayers is beyond me. So far it is your most masterful stroke of Gregging. By the way, trading Abreu has always been a long shot. Edit:
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 06:14 PM) Matt Adams I've been a supporter of his since he was in the minors
  20. Yet another reason for me to dislike the Yankees
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) But how does greg feel about this? It's only been a day since I've interacted with GreggyPoo and I miss em already.
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 12:12 PM) submitted a presentation to Otani earlier this week. I would allow people to rip off my toenails if I could see this presentation.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) I think that was me lol but yeah that is speculation until Ohtani or his agents confirm that. Welp, there ya go - I didn't forget about ya.
  24. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) If it's true that Hahn needs to be "overwhelmed, in order to trade Abreu," Flaherty and Sierra is hardly "overwhelming". Yep... seriously SERIOUSLY doubt Abreu is traded.
