  1. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:28 PM) "Scott Carasik‏ @CarasikS Follow More Braves are pushing hard for Quintana from the White Sox. Large package of prospects looking like what gets deal done.WS want a top 3 org bat" No source attached, but this is certainly a very interesting development if true... He also said: "Braves hesitant to part with Maitan, Acuna or Albies, though. Especially the latter as those two should be up at some point in 2018. One more note here: Braves would be most likely to part with Albies as Phillps and Camargo can both play 2B through 2017 and into 2018. And if the Braves trade Albies, it means they could be looking at Demeritte as the long-term option at 2B instead." Edit: I'd hope for Acuna and Maitan or Albies... as just Albies alone as a headliner isn't enough IMO. But what the hell do I know.
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:18 PM) Of course, as I say all this I will be flipping my s*** if they trade for 3 guys that I havent even heard their names before. That shipp ain't happenin
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 05:03 PM) 1/2 price burgers in Kannapolis tonight. Awesome
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) The majority of all these hypothetical trade proposals and prospect evaluations done on here for the past few months will all be off from who actually turns out to be great in the future. Thats why, no matter what the trade is for Q I am just going to try to be patient and see what the guys develop into. As long as Hahn and his scouts like the players is what matters. +1 Dare I say, that's the s***
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:38 AM) There is a rental from the past couple seasons who had value. The White Sox had a great offer. KW said no to moving him. He wanted to try and compete. This is upsetting and insightful - hopefully Kenny's no longer in such a stance
  6. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) I know in recent history Hahn hasn't done much at the deadline but we also weren't rebuilding during those times. I guess you could argue we were rebuilding last year at the deadline but we really didn't have any expiring assets like we do this year. The impending free agents we did have had no value. I als think that Hahn holding onto Sale last trade deadline will ring out to potential Q buyers... Hahn has established credibility and my hope is that it pays off in the coming weeks.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:11 AM) So when he comes here and says there will be disappointment in a deal, he's mostly referring to the people who think we are going to get an organization's top 2 prospects plus 3 more guys. I never had that expectation but it seems people on here could. I don't know but from what I'm able to see reading between the lines - he doesn't know enough to quantify that type of statement against anything more than some lofty expectations we've seen here at times. That said, your logic is likely correct. Edit: It should also be remembered that he may know more than he's publicly saying. We're officially in the "we still don't know jack s*** but there's more fun tidbits to speculate on" phase.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:07 AM) But I don't think think this is what Hahn would do. It is being recommended he "wait out the market" by letting it expire for expendable assets in the hope that could translate as a bigger return for Q. I find that extremely risky in the hopes of adding some unknown % of a better deal to Q/Robertson. That's why I don't think we'll see a typical Hahn trade deadline: we have a lot of assets that we can't wait out. No matter what, this years gonna be different. What I'm specifically getting at is that Hahn has established integrity with kther GM's and they will know that he is willing to hold Q if he doesn't get an acceptable offer.
  9. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:38 AM) So basically they ARE just going to settle for the return they get for Q. To this sentiment raBBit replied on Twitter: "Can't be sure. Factors in this whole scenario are looking up for Sox." He also specified: "Should add Braves have been involved in talks for a long while."
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) To me, it's less about the Sox settling and more he's implying some of the names discussed on here are off the table. However he's said, "I don't know the names being offered in any case"
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:41 AM) It's starting to sound that way. That's impossible to objectively qualify.
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:38 AM) So basically they ARE just going to settle for the return they get for Q. Since he doesn't know specific names and only that none of the blue chips have been offered yet - he's just speculating against what we've all been pining for... IMO
  13. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) For me to be overtly disappointed the Sox would have to settle for a package significantly less than Sale/Eaton A Rutherford headlined deal from the Yankees would quality A Fisher headlined deal from the Astros A Ray headlined deal from the Brewers A McMahon headlined deal from the Rockies Essentially a deal where we accept a team's second tier guys and allow the buyer to keep the truly elite prospects off the table would be disappointing. I deleted my initial post you referenced because on twitter Brian said, "I don't know specific names..."
  14. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:21 AM) Is this really news? I think we all know that there is a large likelihood he is traded and that it may be sooner or later than we think. About 46 minutes ago - I took 2 poops. There's some news for ya.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) I just find it more likely that teams won't view the White Sox as serious sellers and will move on to teams that are negotiating honestly. This has all the potential of being too clever by half. Since taking over as GM Hahn has shown consistently that he is willing to sit out the market if his demands aren't met. This started with his first deadline in the chair... he was putting up what seemed to be a lot of "big talk" at the time who many questioned as posturing.... however, he displayed integrity and kind of put the GM circle on notice. They all know by now that what the man says, he means. I have faith in his skills and background as a negotiator.
  16. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 09:58 AM) Brian Bilek @BrianBilek_ now I was told earlier this week Milwaukee, New York and Colorado were leading the way on Q but nobody came forward with the "heavy names" yet. Daddy like.
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 09:18 AM) iirc McGuffey had the incorrect intel on the Robert going to the Cardinals. I could be wrong on that though.
  18. QUOTE (heirdog @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 10:21 PM) I predict a surprise team that gets Quintana...Cleveland. Q + Melky for Zimmer, Mejia and lottery ticket Marcos Gonzalez You REALLY think they're gonna trade in division? I guess I could somewhat see it since we don't plan to compete much under Q's contract... highly doubtful... and you know that. Blah blah blah blah July 31st please blah blah blah blah blah
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 06:44 PM) I hope three weeks from tonight we're all happy about 5/6 trades while the Blue Jays are kicking our ass. This. A hundred thousand times, this. ( wouldn't be surprised if we retained Q thou - I do let know what to expect thou as I don't think this will be a typical Hahn deadline. )
  20. QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) Man, it's strange that the Sox could be the team that decides the World Series, like the Yankees last year. Wow - good thought, hadn't thunk it dat way befo
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 01:12 PM) Really wish we could fast-forward 3 weeks (actually, just the time where I am at work lol). +1000
  22. My thoughts: "why can't it be July 31st yet?" What I can come up with: poop.
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) Look at Washington's rumored offer for Sale. Robles, Giolito, Lopez, & Dunning. I bet many of us would argue that's a better overall package than than what we ultimately accepted from Boston. I think problem here is that the Sox placed incredibly high rankings on Moncada & Kopech (rightfully so) that they didn't want to risk losing them over secondary pieces. There was an article that came out shortly after the trade that made it pretty clear that Dombrowski would have given up a little more than he ultimatlry did. Not Devers or Groome, but definitely better overall value than Basabe & Diaz. I also think there was some marketing going on and the Sox really wanted to say they traded Sale for the #1 prospect in baseball, although I'm sure this was a smaller consideration. I also think that a lot of us trade Sale to Boston rather than Washington was knowing we got 3/4ths the deal the Nationals offered in the Eaton deal.

  25. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 09:48 AM) Price said to be high on quintana. Hou, NYY waiting: https://t.co/k1n909Daip https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/884450862013321216 https://www.fanragsports.com/mlb/heyman-pri...es-waiting/amp/ "Chicago-connected folks have suggested they expect him to go this month." Also mentions we're seeking teams too two prospects.
