  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 09:36 PM) If he's got a fractured hand, there's really no reason to play any more. The Royals likely will be playing for keeps that series and it's stupid for Paulie to risk hurting it more. Sure if he's healthy it'd be nice to play all four games and see if he can hit a homer on his final at bat. But why risk it? I guess if he wants to risk it, it's his body. But with this being a terrible team going nowhere and no reason to play, I'd just retire now if I was Paulie. Dude, the resident doctor has spoken. His words hold more merit than your drivel.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) Not gonna lie, I LOVE Soler I was super bummed when we didn't nab him
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 05:01 PM) Everyone's suddenly forgetting how we won a championship in 2005. That team didn't have any superstars or HOF players, other than Thomas on his last legs and sitting out. Pitching, pitching, pitching. And solid players at every position who played together as a team, and played the game the right way. And an amazing bullpen, a once in every 20-30 years performance out of all the pitchers. Creating this superstar-driven team with Sale, Abreu and Stanton just isn't the way to get there. I concur, Good Sir
  4. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) U guys are racist. I'd actually say that it seems more like a logical statement than racism.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 10:08 AM) Dunn is a class act and I wish him all the best but I am so so happy I will never have to watch him play for the White Sox again. This sums it up for me as well
  6. QUOTE (Wickel @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 02:41 PM) I've been a rabid Sox fan for years, and I hate the term "rebuilding." When you're competing at this level, there is no such thing IMO. I respect Eminor's comment that this is a deep-thinking forum. That's a good think and I look forward to future discussions. What I don't appreciate are the drive-by zingers. There's always a slander assassin in every forum, as in Chitownsportsfan. But then again, his avatar says it all. And, hey, I never said we were strong contenders, but there was a glimmer of hope. With the additon of Abreu and the emergence of Gillespie and the toughness of Sale, who knows what could have happened. We were 14 back two days again, now we're back down to 12.5. When the Indians-Royals game goes final, it'll be 12. Hey, I'm a dreamer. So what. Miracles happen. I love the White Sox. We're all in this together. Let's go get 'em. If the stock market crashes, the country experiences hyper-inflation, my house goes under, and I can't buy food for my family... I'm calling you.
  7. Anyone else see that Dunn released a statement that he's retiring after this year? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/08/adam...ter-season.html
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 11:13 AM) The White Sox have just traded away 2 regular players. TPSM v2.0!!!!!!
  9. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 05:00 PM) bassitt is garbage Yawn. Let us take a moment to recall the following line from the 1996 feature film "The Rock"... Nothing directed at you, Ron... Rather, just asking us all to remember that wonderful one liner from such an amazing movie.
  10. 4 hits and 3 walks through 2 and 1/3 innings for Rodon with 44 pitches thrown. Wonder if the "pressure" / prospect of getting called up with a stellar preformance is getting to him. Get your bearings kid... Try and make it through 5 innings without giving up anything else. Redemption song, man!
  11. It's just pure logic mixed with out of context quotes but hell... I'd take him and would go on the record as saying he's the best DH option out there for us next season.
  12. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 08:02 PM) I dont want 90 losses. It's the same argument we saw this past season.... Half of Soxtalk wanted them to tank and the others claimed to be "real fans", wanting to win as much as possible regardless of circumstance. I was a major proponent of the latter option, championing the "Trade People, Suck More" campaign. It netted us a consensious top 10 prospect in all of baseball and arguably the best current starting pitcher in all of the minors. Not to mention we had very strong picks in subsequent rounds that have the potential to be very strong key players locked into leauge minimum contracts for years to come. Yet again this year, I want us to suck as much as possible leading up to the postseason. Get into the highest possible draft position and call it a year. What good is it to rack up 10 extra meaningless wins? Meh. This is the last time I lay this logic out -- it's already tired from last years debate.
  13. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 07:50 PM) This is the kind of game I'm not too bummed out about losing. The core pieces rake, and the main thing that loses us the game is the performance of a non-core piece. This is exactly the type of game I wanna see for the rest of the year and would be perfectly content if we lost every single game that's left.
  14. Well well well - 2 for 4 last night with 2 RBI and a homer.
  15. You've gotta be honest and give a slight edge to the flubs. However, when you consider the length of time each franchise has been undergoing a rebuild, the progress made by the white sox the have the edge in my book. The flubs easily have -- what -- two or three more years into their process of rebuilding. Bottom line, we've made more progress in a shorter amount of time. Period.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 03:43 PM) If it could be done then I suddenly become strongly in favor of adding an expensive starting pitcher. I don't believe it can be done, especially not in the offseason when teams have FA options available. I was hoping there'd be a chance at the trade deadline where a team would take him on to help satisfy a need right now without having to give anything back, maybe with the Sox chipping in a tad bit of money, but either we weren't willing or more likely we weren't able to do that. I'm still crossing my fingers that we unload him before the waiver deadline or can swap another bad contract for a piece at another position who we feel we can fix. We gotta free up that money to drop on a top shelf right handed starter... Especially if we're only talking 30M to work with. Jesus.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 02:37 PM) That leaves me thinking that there's probably some money for an extension and probably about $30 million to spend. Don't forget we also spent a ton on the draft and international signing periods this year as well. Including paying the overage penalty on the draft. It's another reason I'm all for moving Danks. That's another 14M.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 01:34 PM) You're not selling me very well on being able to do this for the $30 mil you suggested we might have available. I sure hope that more than 30M is available.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) Basically just right there it looks like you're talking about 5+ different free agent signings led by a top of the rotation starter. Do you see why this is getting really rough? That's actually not out of the realm of possibility. In the 2004 offseason leading to 2005 - we brought in 8 new players via trades and free agency... if my memory serves me correct. Hanh's real opportunity to shine begins this off season and I've got faith that it's going to be a huge time for our franchise.
  20. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 09:31 AM) For the record, I was all for that deal. ABSOLUTELY
  21. Poor Gordy, yet again another night on the bench. He must be experiencing quite a few humbling moments... Which is likely what he needs. Maybe he'll get hit by a car on the way home, the bum. Green people... Green.
  22. Combine all three of the options that currently have the only votes and you've got your answer.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 06:38 PM) He took the only walk in that game. IIRC Mark then picked him off. Ah - the bastard. Another reason to hate him and wish him dead... Since I'm obviously that type of guy... Always ABSOLUETLY HATING AND DESTROYING anyone who's no longer on the Sox. So evil... Soooooo sooo evil!
  24. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 05:29 PM) My dad has always written who he attended the game with, and the final score. But I decided on the "memorable moments" idea instead. I'm very glad I did that. In fact let me go grab a few and type them out...... - Kris Versteeg 100th career goal - Brett Favre's "Last" game (this is December 31st, 2006, his first of about 3 "last" games) - Jordan Danks first major league start - Hector Santiago major league debut, 1 IP, 1 K - Aaron Poreda's first major league win - Jon Garland, CG 4-hitter And here is the one I was looking for..... - Gordon Beckham's first major league hit PS: One of my tickets I can't read the back of, because it's currently framed in between a picture of me at the game, and Sammy Sosa standing on first base. The game was Mark Buehrle's no hitter. Sammy Sosa standing on first base?
