  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) Finally. Someone with common sense when it comes to the environment... This is a pretty good argument in favor of revoking free speech. If this was a government official of another country saying this I would advocate nuking that country. That's a pretty good use for the uranium she wants, isn't it?
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 06:50 PM) Did you reply in the wrong thread? How did you pull that one off? WTF? Did I? Wow. lol. BigSqwert was the last poster in both threads and I clicked the wrong one. Nice.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 05:08 PM) LINK edited for stupidity
  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) I think most people are TRUE conservatives, not what the liberals or Rush Limbaugh call conservative. I think, truth be told despite the fact that we fight all the time in this forum, you and me are a lot closer philosophically (as far as actual actions) than it looks like. I still wouldn't call myself a conservative though and I'm not liberal enough to be a real liberal. I'm all over the map and I think there's a lot more people like me too. I don't have a baseline that pre-determines my logic on a particular issue like a true liberal or a true conservative would, but I still fall on the side with the libs at something like a 60/40 rate.
  5. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) Maybe Carraso is going to get a shot at the number 5 spot with Richard replacing Gobble? Aaron Poreda...?
  6. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 03:31 PM) I think you're wrong. If a moderate was going to win, they would have won by now. The pro-life, anti-global warming part needs to stay that way (although personally I wish the pro-life part would go away...) because real conservative values would dictate that. The gay marriage thing I've been quite clear on it, and most conservatives agree with my stance that it's a state's rights issue (and so is abortion when it comes right down to it). Moderates candidly don't stand for anything. There's just not a Reagan type out there, but if there were, they'd get a lot of traction in this environment of Barackus the Great. It's not Obama that allows them traction, it's Congressional Democrats. Especially in the Senate (60 seats being seemingly irrelevant), I wonder how Harry Reid manages to stand up straight without having a spine. The only reason the Dems aren't self-destructing again right now is because the Republicans insist on repeatedly setting themselves on fire every time they set foot in public.
  7. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) lostfan gets so angry/heated up about BA threads, but then ends up participating anyway - ha Yeah I always do that. I'm such a paper tiger.
  8. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 02:03 PM) Agree. I've called for him to get a regular shot for a long time, but now he's had it, so it's over. Keep him as the 4th OF, start Pods in CF while we're in contention this year, and get someone here in 2010. The last thing I'll say is I hope when D2 gets here we don't give him the BA treatment, where we say he's a starter and is there for his D, and then turn around and throw him under the bus. I hope the Sox have learned from the BA experience so that the next time we bring up a top CF prospect we have a resolution one way or the other much sooner. The 4 years straight of questions in CF has not been fun. Yeah I've been a de facto "Anderson supporter" since I was in the camp of "give him extended playing time to see where he's at." Well he looked like he was going to do something for a while but he's back in the .230s with no power. So the answer is "no" after all. That's fine I guess. All I wanted was an answer and we couldn't get that with him sitting on the bench.
  9. Howard Dean on healthcare reform. Balta's probably the only one that's going to read this at face value though I'm sure. http://www.esquire.com/the-side/richardson...lth-care-070709
  10. Why do I keep clicking this thread?
  11. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 01:35 PM) There are plenty of other players who this can also apply to. The only reason I started this one is that it seems to me like he may be at the end of the road. The s*** has been beaten out of the horse long ago on Brian Anderson. He got his shot, he's blown it. It's over. edit: still better than Wise though and the only semi-viable option in CF with Quentin out.
  12. I don't want to see another Brian Anderson thread ever again. Seriously. What else needs to be said? What more can be said?
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 11:45 AM) I have ignored it, but that doesn't mean i'm not going to laugh at it. lol, true enough. You saw the Facebook status I had up the other day mocking all my friends? I am an asshole.
  14. QUOTE (dbaho @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 11:13 AM) Fields to Baltimore makes sense because Mora is quickly declining and getting quite old, hence a replacement is needed sooner rather than later. Would I want Felix Pie though? Eh probably not, I don't really see him being an upgrade on someone like BA or Pods overall, even though he is young and has good speed. I'd either add something to try and get Adam Jones, add Getz to make a run at Roberts, maybe go after George Sherill (although that doesn't make sense after the Pena acquisition), or get some more spects into the system which KW isn't likely to do. The O's aren't trading Adam Jones, why would they?
  15. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 09:58 AM) Go green! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090707/ap_on_...ens_wind_energy Now if this were so promising, why would he cancel it? He says they got off the blocks too quick, but I call BS on that one, and furthermore, he's seen what's in the Cap and Trade (Tax and Kill) bill. It's all a big redistribution of wealth boondoggle. PERIOD. But it's a "job creator". Uh huh, so how many millions of jobs are we going to kill to create a fraction of the green jobs? I don't know what you're talking about here, what does Pickens's plan to build wind turbines have to do with cap and trade? He said he couldn't get financing and had problems building transmission systems to get the power to homes etc.
  16. I can outdo all of you, none of you have known heat until you've felt a blazing 125-130 degrees in the Middle East. Humidity doesn't even matter. In fact I came back to Chicago that summer and it was in the 90s and humid, and when I'd go outside I would be sweating but I had goosebumps.
  17. Between her book deal and the fact that she's free to take as many speaking fees and attend as many fundraisers as she wants, she's pretty much set for life, personally and politically. However, I don't see her ever being anything more than a cash cow (albeit a lucrative one), short of pulling a Hillary and moving to another state and scoring a Senate seat I can't see her being taken seriously as a national figure outside of the GOP base.
  18. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 11:13 PM) You have a better idea to find Colon? $$$$
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 11:57 PM) I understand that Michael Jackson was the Elvis of his generation and all, but really, the oversaturation of this story by the media has been laughable. They do that because people watch it. When people watch it they money which is their primary reason for existence. The end. If you don't like it, do what I do and just ignore it until it goes away, which it will in the coming days.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 12:56 AM) Ok, so tell me, why do the White Sox not belong on that list of teams? Are the White Sox not from a major market like the NY teams, or the Red Sox? Are they not in fact in the same city as the Cubs are? I don't understand why the White Sox should not be amongst that group? Again, you really have to ask why the Sox don't pull in the same revenue as the Yankees or the Red Sox? That really should be common knowledge.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 12:37 AM) So if the Cubs fans can pay to go to their bar, why can't the White Sox fans pay to go to their team's games? This is a serious question? Of all things to try to defend, why this?
  22. Paulie now just needs a 3-run homer to hit for the "cycle."
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) Do tell.
  24. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) The economy is hurting the Sox. I'm perfectly fine with them not adding payroll if they feel they can't. In these terrible economic times better to be safe than sorry. I'm fine with that, but don't blame the fans.
