  1. 1 game left. The Hawks currently have the 8th pick in the draft. The BEST they can do is the 7th pick, with a regulation loss, and 1 point from Edmonton this weekend. (Or, if the Hawks win in a shootout, EDM wins in regulation by like 8 goals) The WORST they can do is the 10th pick, I believe, although the rules are a bit tricky and I don't feel like putting in the effort.
  2. Honestly don't remember anything about Tate Blackman, but he hit 5 HR in 49 games last year in Rookie ball. He has 2 HR in 2 games this year in A-ball. Nice progression, kid.
  3. I watched some video of Bohm, and that dude has such a goofy looking body. I didn't see video of him fielding at 3B, but he's so tall and lanky that he just LOOKS like a 1B. Like a Richie Sexson type body, although probably not as tall. It was one set of highlights, and I've never seen him in person, but he just didn't look very athletic and flexible from watching him run.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 09:48 AM) It was said on Wednesday night's Sox broadcast that Kopech would be Charlotte's opening day starter. I've been told that he isn't injured, but I still can't help but wonder... Someone here speculated that maybe they are lining him up to pitch on the Double Header on the 28th, which is plausible. Still, strange that no one is mentioning anything.
  5. Also, this thread is trash. Delete it.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 08:56 PM) https://twitter.com/darenw/status/982323596516315136/photo/1 Moncada sixth in average exit velocity. No he's not. He's 3rd according to the 20 players on that list. Abreu is #1 actually. Also, I have no idea how to find that page. Baseball savant's website only has data up to 2017, and MLB.com's statcast page has a lot less data.
  7. Charlotte has decided to make Kopech their #5 starter and completely f*** up my chances to see him. He's now lined up for Friday, barring a postponed game for Charlotte.
  8. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 03:41 PM) Would have to hear better reports about his defense at third base. I believe the Fangraphs guys have said he can stay there, but I need others to confirm. For instance, while a pre-season evaluation, MLB Pipeline does not have a glowing report about either his arm or fielding and predicts he winds up at first base. I know this is somewhat typical, since most HS players play premium positions, and even good college players tend to play in the more athletic positions due to relative team skill, but man, it would be nice to draft a top college position player that doesn't have doubts about having to move to 1B, or are already being relegated to 1st. Would be nice to draft a slam dunk 3B or C or SS or CF who didn't have any doubts about sticking at the position. Obviously to do that, you may be giving up some bat profile, but at the #4 pick in the draft, I don't want a guy who could lose a ton of defensive value so easily. I'm not saying I'm against Bohm, but it would make me feel so, so much better to hear he has a very good chance to stick at 3B.
  9. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 03:06 PM) Jason is hilarious. I know that his extremely dry wit isn't everyone's cup o' tea but, personally, I love it. He also gets Stone to play along...another guy with a pretty damn good dry sense of humor. Only complaint I have with him is late reactions on bombs. I want excitement from him from the crack of the bat until we know whether it's a dong or not. Jason doesn't seem all that interested/excited until the ball is almost to the wall. Hawk was the master of calling dongs basically on contact. Even if the ball came up short of being a HR, he got your juices flowing for a brief second. I think this is fair and I agree. But I think it may also be somewhat because Hawk was an EXTREME version of excitement on homeruns, so Jason pales in comparison. I do think he could amp it up a bit, but it's not really fair to contrast him to Hawk's explosions.
  10. I think he's great. Love hearing him call a game and find him to be very clever and witty. 100% on board. I like Stoney, but he tries too hard some times to be funny. Wouldn't mind if they replace him eventually, but keep Jason.
  11. Have we seen who is going to be the opening day starter yet for Charlotte? I can't find this info anywhere, which seems strange considering the game is tomorrow...
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 05:10 PM) Brandin Cooks + 4th round pick to the Rams for 1st and 6th round picks in NFL draft. Wow. Ugh. Hate giving up a 1st RD pick for Cooks in his last year. Seems to a WIN NOW move in all capital letters.
  13. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 08:22 PM) With the bat that Beer has he will go top 10.. I wouldn't even hate it if the Sox reached and took him at 4. He's that good of a hitter. He won't last past 10 despite his defensive... shortcomings? Huh? Was this post written a year ago?
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 12:30 PM) The Sedins announce they are retiring at the end of this season This makes me happy.
  15. FC5 is a ton of fun, as expected.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 31, 2018 -> 06:25 AM) If you like Far Cry 3 then make sure to get the Far Cry 5 season pass because it comes with a free download of Far Cry 3 Remastered plus three new crazy campaigns (zombies, Vietnam, Mars). Yeah, I'm going to strongly consider it based on the reviews of the 3 new stories.
  17. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Mar 31, 2018 -> 09:52 AM) Myself and a few friends will be at the Saturday game, then hightailing back to Chicago for the Sox on Sunday. Hoping to catch a Kopech start on SAT obviously. Lol that's funny because me and a buddy are going to the Sox game Friday, then heading down to Indy Saturday afternoon for the Sat and Sun games.
  18. QUOTE (Spartans Rock @ Mar 31, 2018 -> 01:09 AM) Tuffy Rhodes hit 3 opening day homeruns too!! And that was off freaking Doc Gooden. He finished the year with 8, and got banished to Japan. Point being, Gooz Fraba!!!!!!!!! Why does everyone reference Tuffy Rhodes, but not Dmitri Young, which was the most recent? Because Rhodes did it for the Cubs?
  19. I love my offense, especially once Turner comes back in a month, and I can slide Machado over to SS. And then Acuna will be up by then, and Souza back healthy. But pitching is obviously my weakness, but Corey Knebel was actually the #1 fantasy reliever in our league last year, Diaz is filthy and could be a top 5 RP, and then I went with some breakout candidates like Giolito, Snell, Gray, and Morton.
  20. Here is my squad.... ACUNA MACHADO C Gary Sanchez, NYY 1B Joey Votto, Cin 1B 2B Jonathan Schoop, Bal 3B Manny Machado, Bal SS Zack Cozart, LAA OF Aaron Judge, NYY OF Christian Yelich, Mil OF Marwin Gonzalez, Hou OF Corey Dickerson, Pit UTIL Justin Smoak, Tor UTIL Daniel Vogelbach, Sea Bench Ronald Acuna, Atl DL Justin Turner*, LAD DL Steven Souza Jr.*, Ari SP Dallas Keuchel, Hou SP James Paxton, Sea SP Marcus Stroman, Tor SP Jon Gray, Col SP Blake Snell, TB RP Corey Knebel, Mil RP Edwin Diaz, Sea RP Nate Jones, CWS Bench Michael Fulmer, Det Bench Charlie Morton, Hou Bench Lucas Giolito, CWS Bench Jack Flaherty, StL DL Danny Salazar*, Cle H2H points, 10 teams, 2 keepers (Judge and Machado)
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 30, 2018 -> 06:24 PM) I'm in my 4th year in my dynasty auction league. First three years I've come in 3rd, 1st, and 3rd. My roster looks like this this year: C Wellington Castillo 1B Freddie Freeman 2B Dee Gordon 3B Kris Bryant SS Xander Boegarts OF Bryce Harper OF Giancarlo Stanton OF Andrew McCutchen UTIL Adam Eaton OF Max Kepler SS Zack Cozart C Yadier Molina SS Tim Anderson 2B Scott Kingery 3B Nick Senzel SP Carlos Martinez SP Dallas Kuechel SP Gerit Cole SP Julio Teheran SP Taijuan Walker RP Wade Davis RP Felipe Rivero SP Sean Manaea RP Brad Brach Thoughts? Damn, that offense is nasty. Did you have keepers? Otherwise I have no idea how you got Harper, Stanton, and Bryant. Those are all top 10-12 guys. Your pitching staff is hit or miss, especially your bullpen, but your offense should keep you in it. But since you said you are H2H category, that means you are going to probably win most hitting categories, but lose a lot of pitching ones. So even if you demolish guys on offense, you don't win any more than 1 category at a time. So, had you been in a points league, this strategy would have been better, IMO.
  22. Anyone else making the trip down for the April 20-22 series? I went last year for 2 games and got to see Moncada. This year, I'll be doing 2 games again, and should line up to see Kopech, assuming he's their #1 or #2 starter. For the Saturday game, we are 4 rows from the field right next to the Sox dugout. For the Sunday game, I chose upper deck, but first row and the middle 4 seats directly behind the plate. Last year there was a lot of Sox media and writers/bloggers that went, and the stadium was packed with Sox jerseys. I expect the same this time around again considered 95% of the seats are sold out between the dugouts on the 1st level. Anyone looking to go, especially needing more than 2 tickets, better get on that very soon.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 30, 2018 -> 01:18 PM) I've never seen gameplay footage of Far Cry and know absolutely nothing about it. Maybe these are games I should look into. It's one of my favorite franchises. Far Cry 3 was one of my favorite games of all time and that villian is widely considered one of the best video game villians to date. Far Cry 4 was decent, I just didn't like the location. Primal I never played and was never interested in. Seemed like a glorified DLC. Which, speaking of DLC, the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon DLC is amazing.
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 30, 2018 -> 01:25 PM) I literally just started the game, but from what I’ve seen in previews that could definitely be a problem. I guess you could probably avoid using the gun for hire system if it becomes too easy. Right, it's easy to avoid, and I probably will avoid it until I face some impossible situations without it.
