Why Can't the White Sox Do This Same Thing?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would think "5 Losses" would make more sense because otherwise you get to the point where fans aren't rooting for the team to win, because it means less games they get to go to. -
I just listened to Eric Longenhagen's latest Fangraphs Audio and he seems to be in love with LHP David Peterson. He says him and McKay are essentially the same on the mound, and thinks he's a slam dunk top 10 talent. BA has him going #17 to Seattle. Carson Cistulli loves Adam Haseley and Rooker.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 23, 2017 -> 05:38 PM) You do know he's kidding, right? He's been getting tweets from Sox fans all day asking why he hates the Sox because they read his write-up on Robert whom he's been less than impressed with since this whole thing started. The only national writer I've ever thought really had an anti-Sox lean was Dayn Perry though I can't remember the specifics so it may have just been youthful naivete. I doubt this as he lives in Chicago and often speaks well of the Sox on the Fangraphs Audio episodes he does. His son I believe is a Cardinals fan (might be his wife's doing).

Check out this highway robbery trade I pulled off, most of which was the original trade offered to me.... I traded away.... SP Michael Fulmer (17.0 PPG) OF Marcell Ozuna (3.3 PPG) SS Chris Owings (3.1 PPG) for... SP Lance McCullers (15.9 PPG) CL Kenley Jansen (6.9 PPG) 3B Manny Machado (2.9 PPG) OF Michael Conforto (4.4 PPG) He offered that trade, but asked for Trea Turner. I said I didn't want to move Turner, so he said he would take Ozuna instead (uh, duh). And then I told I didn't want Adam Duvall, I wanted a SP instead, and said I would take any of McCullers, Porcello, or Vargas. I can't believe he didn't give me Vargas, and instead let me have McCullers. The crazy part is that this guy I traded with was 5-0 in our league so far, and he's always in the playoffs for our baseball, hockey, and football leagues, so it was especially strange that someone like him would offer that trade.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 7, 2017 -> 12:25 AM) Adolfo has, thus far, reduced his K-rate very substantially. It's still high and will have to drop at least a bit more, but to my mind it is perhaps the hardest thing to ask a player to do—move up in level and reduce your K%. It shows his development and some fortitude that he's been able to do it. See Courtney Hawkins for an example of someone who may have been ruined by an early experience of being overmatched. He has reduced his K-rate from 33.2% to around 26%, but his walk rate has also been cut in half as well.

Charlotte Knights series at Indianapolis

Looks like I'll be seeing Giolito on Monday night, and Danish on Tuesday afternoon. I'll get some video of both, although I'm sure Gio footage would be more important. -
Legit First Prospect Called Up(Poll)
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to kwill's topic in FutureSox Board
Fulmer, Delmonico, Moncada, in that order. -
May or may not be influenced by substance, you be the judge. But yesterday's Miley/Ynoa switcharoo by the Orioles really screwed over the Sox since they stacked their line-up with righties, but ultimately had to face a RHP once Miley got hurt, and stool no chance. So what if when a team has a L/R back to back in a rotation, and a day off sprinkled in there, that team starts one of those guys, force the other team to stack their line-up, then switch to the other pitcher after 1 batter. Do that as many times as you can with the back end starters, and steal a few games. I'll hang up and listen.

My gut has officially decided to go with OF Adam Haseley. I really want to go with Alex Faedo from the pitching side, but I just feel like the Sox will target a college OF bat.

Also, any idea why Kim said "Bingo!" at the end of the episode? I couldn't figure out what trick they pulled.

The last episode of BCS was a little confusing. So this is like 20-25 years after Hector kills Gus' partner right? So why does it suddenly seem like Gus hates him? This feud/hatred should be running extremely deep by now. A few of the things make me want to go back and watch the later scenes in Breaking Bad to figure them out.

QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 04:07 PM) In a vacuum I would be more inclined to agree with Manuel's "hot take" but this is one month into a season and these arms are in one of the few organizations that has shown time and time again they can develop every type of pitcher and polish turds from the scrap heap while protecting arms from serious injury at the major league level. Some of them will not cut it in the rotation and will be transitioned to the pen but the notion that Adams is going to be the only one that cracks a rotation makes me chuckle. Manuel said he thinks Giolito has too big of a body to ever throw strikes consistent enough to be a starter. Really? Then why was he so high on him in the past? He didn't suddenly grow 4 inches. Manuel also said he can't think of a single pitcher of Giolito's size to ever have a nice long major league career without command issues. Really? CC Sabathia is also 6'6", 40-50 pounds heavier, and has a career 2.7 BB/9. Roy Halladay was also 6'6", but about 20-30 pounds lighter than Gio. Pretty great career with a 1.9 BB/9. And those are just the first 2 guys to come to mind.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 12:35 PM) He's immature. He's starting a day game. If he partied last night, he's not ready for AA at his age. I'm not commenting on this any more than that. If you disagree, feel free. It was his 21st birthday. I think he gets a pass for being hungover.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 06:36 PM) Apparently Nick Hostetler followed some White Sox picks on twitter pre-draft last year including Collins and Burdi. These are the guys in MLB.com's top 100 that he follows currently: #5 Mckenzie Gore LHP HS #8 Pavin Smith 1B Virginia #9 Austin Beck OF HS #12 Shane Baz RHP HS #14 Adam Haseley OF Virginia #16 Jake Burger 1B/3B #19 Alex Lange RHP LSU #20 Seth Romero LHP Houston #21 Logan Warmoth SS UNC #26 Keston Hiura 2B UC IRvine #27 Wil Crowe RHP SC #30 Evan White 1B kentucky #40 Chris Seise SS HS #48 Clarke Schmidt RHP SC #49 Brent Rooker MIssissippi State #52 Tristan Beck RHP Stanford #79 Taylor Walls SS Florida State #85 TYler Johnson RHP HS This is some great outside the box thinking. Love it.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox

QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 11:47 PM) They always tell you not to lunge at the base like that but he has always done it I always imagine it would be a hyperextended knee or torn hammy to be the result of that. Not a broken ankle. -
THIS guy though does the best voice/mannerism impression of Trump though. Need to mash that other guy's looks with rest of this guy.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) Anyone catch The President Show on comedy central last night? I love Atamanuik's Trump so looking forward to firing up the DVR tonight to watch. No, but you made me google it, and I laughed my ass off at that truck part. http://splitsider.com/2017/04/watch-some-c...president-show/

QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 12:05 PM) I'm 3-3 as well, and I would be thrilled with Haseley or Faedo. I'm 1 for 3, or 2/3 if you view it positively. I was pushing for Rodon, Fulmer, and Ray each of the last 3 years. This year I haven't declared a mostly-random gut selection yet. But once I do, you guys can call Vegas.

http://mlbfarm.com/index.php?team=CWS Basabe - 2/4, 3B. Avg up to .263 as he is hitting .303 over his last 11 games. Collins - 1/4, HR, ONLY ONE STRIKEOUT!! WOO! Collins did however allow 3 bases to be stolen out of 3 attempts. I think that's like 11 SB out his last 11 attempts. He's broken.

Hey, so this thread is about Dunning. Congrats to him, he's definitely an exciting follow, and I look forward to being able to watch him pitch with my Milb.tv subscription.

You guys are missing the more important result of this.... my fantasy team continues to be plagued with injury. But for real, I've been rooting for Eaton and Sale. Hope he's ok. -
Came here to read the rage about the Bears pick. As someone who is not a Bears fan, this pleased me. Thank you all. Now for my team.... it's Taco time!
