  1. If something crazy happens and Haseley, Beck, and Kendall are all there for the Sox at #11, this forum will be torn to shreds with 2nd guessing. I kind of hope, for all our sanity, that only one of them makes it to #11 and we can all breathe when we know we got the only one possible.' Then again, instant fear of "omg, what if they don't take him! What if they pass on him for Burger!" or similar could certainly crop up. Either way, I took the day off work on Monday and I am very exiting to be sitting my happy ass on there website with the TV and twitter going to track all the draft picks.
  2. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 04:31 PM) Looks like the Red Sox traded Diaz just in time. Really hope the kid doesn't turn into damaged goods. Even if he does, he was by far the 4th piece in that trade. Remove him from the trade and it doesn't change much.
  3. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 11:39 PM) Wow... molested a girl for two years when she was between the ages of 4 and 6. I'm all for second chances but I also see sex offenders in a very low way. Hope he has a good life helping people and staying on the right path... also hope he never plays in the majors. It was a family member of his, whether that makes it better or worse, I have no idea. Whether it matters, I'm sure it doesn't.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 10:26 PM) Dunning threw at Erceg a couple weeks ago after he hit a three run homer. Dunning served a suspension. Tonight, the same guy hit another 3-run hr. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 10:46 PM) Ahh, I somehow missed that. Thanks! Not just threw at him, he buzzed his head with it.
  5. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 05:50 PM) Slightly OT, but Carson Cistulli's track record of finding undervalued players on the fringe 5 is very impressive. He was famously all over Mookie Betts, and Dave Cameron used to scoff at it. Now, Mookie is an MVP candidate.
  6. I think the fact that we have a top 3 system may give us the wiggle room to roll the dice on a boom-or-bust type player. I still want Haseley, but I'm trying to talk myself in to being ok with a dice roll on Kendall or Beck, and I think I'm leaning Beck.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) Not one of Kopech's prettier starts, that's for sure. He was doing fine until he blew up in the 6th inning. 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K through 5. 1/3 IP, 0 H, 3 ER, 3 BB in the 6th inning alone. He walked 3 straight to load the bases, was pulled, and Leyer ended up allowing all 3 inherited runners to score.
  8. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 05:41 PM) Perhaps that thumb is still bothering him. I hope that's the reason. He was 0 for 5 today and drew the "hat trick". His S.O. are getting to be a little alarming. He said before he even had his first game off the DL that his thumb was still not 100% and it still felt uncomfortable. I wonder if it's affected his bat speed.
  9. Yeah, I've seen a few. It really is pretty, but you only notice it when they show close ups, otherwise it looks very similar. However, see one close up and you can instantly tell that it's in 4K.
  10. Trey went 3/4. Dudeup to .288 in W-S, but this is after his demotion.
  11. I would think if he's playing, we would have heard a writer talk about his first game.
  12. I'll take LHP David Peterson as a dark horse candidate for #11, if no one juicy falls. Junior season at Oregon, threw 100 IP, struck out 140 and walked only 15. That's amazing control for a 6'6" lefty. Also allowed only 2 HR all year. Oh, and he had a 20 strikeout game a month ago vs. ASU.
  13. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 31, 2017 -> 12:58 AM) What are these numbers you are posting with no reference? It seems like it might be attendance ranks for the night, but there aren't that many games, so ??? 21,852 was tonight's attendance. I think he is showing the season's average, which happens to be very close to the "almost 22,000" for tonight's game he was referencing.
  14. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ May 31, 2017 -> 12:56 AM) Smith's power projects much better than Ravelo. You may be right, I'm just going off of when I heard Cistulli and Longenhagen talk about him and one of them said he was interesting because he was a 1B without much power. Maybe they just meant relative to typical 1st RD 1B types.
  15. Any time I think of Pavin Smith, I think of recent 1B prospect in our system, Rangel Ravelo. He was a high contact, low strikeout, no power 1B type as well. He is currently in the Cardinals farm system hitting .349 in AAA with 1 HR and 16 K%. He has a total of 30 HR across 8 minor league seasons.
  16. Joliet-native Stephen Neal put out a new EP a couple of weeks ago. He's a Nashville artist now. This is the title track.
  17. Really would love to have this kid over Kendall, because of their floors.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 31, 2017 -> 12:06 AM) Almost 22,000, a bit disappointing for Sale vs. Q, but a dreaded Tuesday night game. 23. MIN 23,101 24. ARI 22,648 25. CIN 21,681 26. CHW 21,646 27. CLE 21,394 28. MIA 20,970 Only 22K? It seemed like much more tonight. The crowd was lively, especially during Lake Central High School's "camera light" performance. lol.
  19. Went to a charity bowling thing for work on Sunday. I used to bowl in leagues, but haven't been in a league for about 9 years now. Bowled a 192, so I was happy.
  20. F is for Family is back! In the 1st episode, the scene where Bill walks in on his brother had me dying, especially later with the Ketchup bottle.
  21. f*** Nashville and their fans. Go Pens, Crosby be damned.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 26, 2017 -> 09:21 AM) Wow do you play in a league with morons? That's disgusting how one-sided that is. Machado having a down year I would never include in that deal. Did it last year too when I took Votto while was was in a putrid start to the year, and before Arrieta could throw another game after his no-hitter. But the guy last year was super dumb and we eventually kicked him out. The guy this time is actually really smart and is a huge sports fan. I can't figure out why he was so down on Machado, or why he willingly let me have McCullers. And like I said, his team was 5-0. Why he was wanting to trade was beyond me.
  23. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 09:04 AM) I give it a B-. Too many red herrings at the beginning. Still an entertaining listen about an interesting guy, but the mystery/suspense stuff was unnecessary and it made the ending weak. Not to mention the title doesn't make much sense to me. It's a tangential topic in the grand scheme of the story. Yeah, every episode was another topic and it never felt like it was "going anywhere" other than telling us about this guy. It was interesting, but they set it up to be like he was going to get answers or figure s*** out and it ended up just being a profile piece.
  24. Can we go even a full page without comparing these prospects to Cubs player? Seriously, Schwarber, Happ, and Bryant comps all on this page. Let's expand out baseball universe beyond the other team in the city. /rant
