My first game in RTTS (carry over from years past, I'm in 2023 and a star for the Reds), and my manager calls me in to the office after the game to question me for trying to steal so often (Only took off on one pitch, it was fouled off). It was a cool interaction, but a little weird, considering I didn't even have an official attempt, my speed is 99, and I routinely steal 100 bases a year.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) Because this is the 2017 draft discussion thread and he is eligible to be drafted next year. There's another thread for the 2018 draft. I keep forgetting to ask, but I propose we change that 2018 MLB Draft thread to Seth Beer thread with 2018 draft as the sub-headline. Then we can change it again in June to general 2018 Draft thread.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 09:07 AM) Yep, got in a few hours last night. Amazon has a habit of doing this, probably because they have to ship 2 days before release in order for you to get it on release day so there's a possibility of the USPS delivering a day early, I imagine there are no controls once they hand it off to USPS. It's the day before The Show comes out, AND SOXTALK HAS LIED TO ME. You're dead to me. You're ALLLLLLLLLL dead to me.

Damn, wanted at least an A-ball for him. Cash trades are so strange to me. They seem to essentially just be favors.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 07:35 AM) Bolt and Leaf are just a lot smaller than I want to go. If it was just my wife and I, and/or if I was shorter (I'm 6'3"), then maybe. I like the idea of an electric car if it has enough range. I'd like a Tesla S but can't justify spending 90k on a car. Also am not going to plunk down $1000 now for a car I might get in 2018 if I'm lucky and for which I have little idea what it will be (Tesla 3). I'll have my model 3 in about a year or less, I'll let you know how it is.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 10:04 PM) Just had our draft....It was a 2-player keeper, so my 1st two picks were my keepers. 2 Corey Seager, LAD SS K 11 Noah Syndergaard, NYM SP K 20 Trea Turner, Wsh 2B 35 Robinson Cano, Sea 2B 38 Kyle Seager, Sea 3B 53 Stephen Strasburg, Wsh SP 56 Zach Britton, Bal RP 71 Hanley Ramirez, Bos 1B 74 Gary Sanchez, NYY C 89 Adam Eaton, Wsh OF 92 Jose Abreu, CWS 1B 107 Kenta Maeda, LAD SP 110 Aaron Sanchez, Tor SP 125 Michael Fulmer, Det SP 128 Marcell Ozuna, Mia OF 143 Kole Calhoun, LAA OF 146 Taijuan Walker, Ari SP 161 Julio Urias, LAD SP 164 Sam Dyson, Tex RP 179 Carlos Rodon, CWS SP 182 Michael Pineda, NYY SP 197 Michael Wacha, StL RP 200 Carlos Beltran, Hou OF 215 Tim Anderson, CWS SS My infield is pretty stacked, and the top of my rotation is nails, but my OF and back-end of SP are big question marks. Although, that's the exact same strategy I implemented last year for the draft and I won our league.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 09:58 PM) Who has seen Moncada up close? Does he look overweight? I hope he doesn't room with Courtney Hawkins. I'm going to say there is 0% he's overweight.

The only thing wrong with Kinsler's quote was "as opposed to the way Puerto Rico plays or the Dominican plays." Making it seem like what they are doing is wrong. I personally hate when player's disrespect other players and show them up, but there is a middle ground between Javy Baez and un-emotional.

Trial and Error is pretty solid minus the horrible character "Anne".

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 02:36 PM) Car shopping for the first time in about 6 years. Amazing how far the safety stuff has gotten in that time. Looking at a pair of plug-in hybrids. My wife has a round-trip commute of around 30 miles, which makes these cars with roughly 30-mile electric-only ranges basically perfect for us. And they still get 40+ mpg after that as hybrids. Current tax credits are about $4900 on each, but the difference in price of plug-in versus not is only about $3000-$4000, which further makes it a no-brainer. Not sure why anyone would get the straight hybrid in that case, if the plug-in is actually cheaper and gets better efficiency overall (a lot better for us). Narrowed to the Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima plug-in hybrids. Anyone have experience with either of those brands? I'm new to both. Reading mostly very good things, but always up for deeper info. I'm not sure how they compare cost-wise, but have you looked in to the Chevy Bolt at all? Or the, albeit ugly, Nissan Leaf?

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 05:22 PM) Based on all the other crazy cheap deals Hahn has gotten young players to sign.... 8 yrs/$60M? Wow, I was actually $9M too HIGH on my guess.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 06:07 PM) Seriously tho, you kinda have to take it out last 6 years for it to make sense. I can't imagine it's less than 8 years, unless it's like 6 years with a few team option years in there. He's got 6 years of team control left.

**2017 Films Thread** (Beware of spoilers)

Get Out was good and worth seeing, but I think it's a bit overrated. Not some amazing film that is a "run to the theater ASAP" type film for me. -
I'm looking for a couple people to fill my ESPN league as well. Keeper League (2 keepers) and you would assume an existing team and pick from their players. $25 entry fee. Draft Sunday the 26th.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 10:57 AM) A co-worker sent me a link where you can buy a ticket for the Saturday game for $45. It includes: a ticket to the game, a bus ride to the game (leaves from the GRate at 9 I want to say; leaves 30 minutes after the game), and 2 vouchers for outfield tickets to games during the regular season. Yep, myself, best friend, and his fiance got in on that deal. It's also a 21+ bus event, and you're encouraged to bring your own booze. We shall be wasted before we even arrive.

QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 01:13 AM) If Moncads figures it out defensively at second base and the Sox bring him up n May, what do they do with Saladino, especially if he is picking it at second base and hitting for average and power? Trade him? I like Saladino not only because of the way he plays the game, but because he seems like a great team player with a positive attitude. I don't want to see him on the bench or traded. Why on Earth would they trade him? No, he becomes our 3B of the foreseeable future. We have no 3B in our entire system. He could have 3B until we sign Machado, which people seem to be aiming for.

The White Sox have scored 8 runs in an inning in 3 straight games. 22 runs and recorded 8 outs in their last 3 innings at the plate

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) Aaron Fitt @aaronfitt Here’s your crazy @UofLBaseball Brendan McKay stat of the day: His batting average (.548) is higher than his ERA (0.50). Are you serious? To be fair, if you're a good pitcher and hitter, your batting average SHOULD be better than your ERA.

Oh good lord, Bourgeois just hit a 3-run HR. It's now 15-3 Sox.....14 runs scored in the 9th! What the actual f***.
