  1. If someone could find the panel videos from SoxFest this weekend, that would be amazing. I can't find them on WhiteSox.com OR CSNChicago.com. Possibly they are still editing them, I suppose.
  2. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 01:44 AM) It wasn't about my judgement of his humor - it was a commentary on a poor display regarding his maturity. My post didn't attack the kid, just pointed out that his use of religion in such a context was in poor taste. Now I'm complementing the guy and that's a problem? Get off my ass - jeez. CASH ME OUTSIDE
  3. Anyone see Derek Holland's Harry Caray impression? It's nails. Right there with Ryan Dempster's famed version. http://www.csnchicago.com/video/loop-fans-...n-carson-fulmer ^^CSN video sucks, so I can't directly link it. But it's a thumbnail below the video above.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 12:57 AM) Here's a great quote that redeems his mindset for me: http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/214...e-on-prospects/ Being humble makes up for him not being very funny to you? lol, and for the record, I laughed when he joked about that. It's an easy joke and one many people make to mock the religious types who think their God gives a flying f*** about achievements.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 29, 2017 -> 12:37 PM) MLBpipeline released their list of best tools. Some White Sox made the list: Fastest Baserunner Runner-up: Moncada Best Fastball Winner: Kopech Best Curveball Winner: Giolito Best Slider Runner-up: Kopech Wow, I had no idea Kopech's slider was considered that great. I knew it was plus, but I didn't assume it was the 2nd best slider out there. I wonder how it would compare to Rodon's. Is Kopech's arsenal essentially a right-handed version of Rodon with an extra 3-4 MPH on the fastball?
  6. So I finally figured out who Lucas Giolito sounds like, and I mean almost exactly.... Nick Thune.
  7. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 10:49 PM) If Tilson's hamstring injury has ruined his ability to play CF I suppose Bourjos could be considered an adequate defensive replacement. He's lost all ability to contribute offensively though. Honestly, if anyone is going to take over for Tilson, I would hope it's Adam Engel, but yeah, then you need someone to replace Engel. It's nothing but a "meh" move IMO. Probably doesn't change anything.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 09:56 AM) This in reference to Abbatacola (didn't feel like going back)? It would seem like going from producing a show to "reading updates every 20/30 mins" would be a downgrade. I said at the top of my comment I didn't know what roles were being discussed for Abbatacola, but if he was a producer and now he's the update guy, then yeah, that's definitely a downgrade, especially considering you can pretty easily do both jobs simultaneously.
  9. But, on the other hand, Law does have the Kopech and Gio ranked as the #1 and #3 best pitching prospects in baseball, so that's still a great sign.
  10. Wow, shocked he is so low (and always has been, apparently) on Moncada. I expected to see someone put him closer to 10, but I didn't expect 17, yeeeesh. He's down on Giolito, but I kind of expect that to some degree from other pubs as well. Very shocked to see him so high on Kopech. I expected Kopech around #19-20 when he wasn't on his list yet.
  11. QUOTE (Special K @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 10:30 PM) Anytime I hear the word platoon, it makes me want to throw up. Platoon = 2 players not good enough to start sharing time. Good. Platoon the entire 2017 roster. #CheerForBeer
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) Robertson and $10 million for Pedro Severino and Juan Soto. Done.
  13. welp....at least I got a Kane and Toews bobblehead tonight...so...
  14. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 08:43 PM) I think he'll have Rey Lopez in his top 20. Guy is so talented and he flashed his potential as a starter in a big way last fall. He can call him a relieved all he wants but that's just not a name you can leave off a top 100 list if your a national media guy beholden to a certain degree of reason from your readers. If Law really thinks Lopez is a reliever with a CHANCE to start, I would have figured Lopez in the 60's. If he thinks he's reliever only, then he won't be on his top 100, if he thinks he will actually start, then he will be in his top 20.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 02:50 PM) Lopez will not be in his top 100 because he believes him to be a reliever. He thought Sale was a reliever too, and ranked him #67. He says 71. Josh Hader, LHP, Milwaukee Brewers has about a 40-50% chance of starting, even though he has thought it was a 0% chance in the past.
  16. Wow, I expected the bulk of our prospects to be in this #40-21 range for Law and NONE of them came up. That either means he thinks Moncada, Giolito, Kopech, and Lopez are all top 20 guys, or he really hates Lopez and doesn't even think he's top 100. http://www.espn.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=6270
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 10:38 AM) A few years ago you couldn't get standing room for less than $100. SRO are going for like $25 right now for tonight's game. I would never pay to stand though anyway.
  18. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 09:33 PM) http://isportsweb.com/2017/01/25/chicago-w...ntana-continue/ Those Pirates and Astros offers aren't even remotely close to being of equal value. You'd have to add Bell and Newman to that Pirates offer to start comparing.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 02:37 AM) Let me leave this here also though http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...t&p=3476919 To be fair, Law did cite a very good AZL showing that apparently opened a ton of eyes, and at 17, I imagine he could improve in such a short amount of time physically. I'll be interested to see what everyone else thinks of Tatis Jr before assuming Law is just trying to stand out.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 02:37 AM) Do you know who Fernando Tatis is? Then let me tell you about his son! Yeeeeah, but he could have just have easily dropped him in at #97 instead of #47 if he was really blowing Tatis Jr up to get people to read his list. Unless you are inferring that Law is purposefully making some of his rankings wildly different from other rankings to draw a buzz. I can see him (or anyone) doing that for a #1 prospect (Everyone else has Moncada as the #1 prospect, Law has Gleyber Torres!), but I feel like you also want to be right to build credibility and if Law sees Tatis as #47, I would imagine the other rankers would have them in their top 100s as well. And if not, then I would agree with you about the shock-and-awe tactic, although I still think that plays up at lot more at #1 than #47.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 02:15 AM) Stats only mean so much and this and that and scouting is so much more important but this is an important piece of information all the same: Courtney Hawkins - 2012 A ball - .308/.352/.631, 5.6% BB, 23.6% K, .356 BABIP, 72 PAs Fernando Tatis Jr - 2016 A- ball - .273/.306/.455, 6.1% BB, 26.5% K, .364 BABIP, 49 PAs Both were 18 years old. Both are 6'3". Hawkins is listed at 245, but I'm guessing Tatis Jr will probably be bigger than the 185 he is currently listed at. Both put up similar numbers in rookie ball of the same year. I'm not going to tell you that Tatis is going to be bad, but I am going to say that it's a familiar name, that he fits a certain profile, and that Law is trying to sell subscriptions. By placating Padres fans?
  22. I'll be there tomorrow. Got tickets for $60. Not too bad, but still a far cry from when I was a kid and they were $8 student tickets.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) Rongey leaving https://twitter.com/ChrisRongey/status/823601051257438209 Looks like he'll be moving to St Louis and working for the ESPN station. Funny, I totally forgot he blocked me on Twitter a few years ago for calling him a "Sox mouthpiece", until I clicked that link.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 03:50 PM) I have no idea how radio works. Is that a promotion or demotion from his previous role? I don't follow The Score enough to know what roles are being discussed here, but if we are talking on-air talent moved to producer, then yes, that's a downgrade. I worked at a radio station in the market a few years ago and was an on-air talent for my own sports show, and then stayed after and produced the next guy's show for experience. Then we all also took turns being assigned to have to run the board for certain live events or Cubs/NFL games, and THAT was the absolute worst job in the studio. Running the board is the worst. Producing a show and obviously hosting a show can both be fun, depending how much you feel like doing. We simulcasted video live online as well, so producing the later show was actually pretty fun for me because I got to add a lot of content to the video portion of the show that listeners wouldn't even know. Like switching cameras or displaying my laptop screen where we could SHOW traffic and weather as well as websites related to our guests or articles in which the host is referring, etc. It was cool seeing the live feedback on the chatroom when I was able to provide additional info for the viewers.
  25. Almost threw up when I read this.... "There’s upside across the board here, from the physical tools to the makeup to the incredible feel for the game in a kid who would be a high school senior right now if he were U.S.-born. There’s risk, given his age, but we might look back on this deal in a few years and call it the Fernando Tatis trade."
