  1. I'm going to the Notre Dame hockey game tomorrow. Hawks prospect D Dennis Gilbert (3rd RD pick in 2015) plays for the Irish, so I'll try to keep an eye out for him.
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 07:46 AM) I cant believe he answered the reasons why he got divorced. What did he say? I wasn't listening when he said the reasons, but when I was listening someone asked the question and he said something to the effect of "I already answered this question in detail last time, so I won't be repeating it every time someone asks the question".
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 10:57 PM) I don't know. These kids have two baseball seasons to play before the June '18 draft. Hansen was talked about being a potential 1-1 before the start of the '16 college season and look how quickly he dropped after having some struggles. Since no one has said it yet, Just gimme the BPA! There is no doubt a lot can change and Beer could slip, someone else could emerge. I am rooting for Beer mostly because it's fun and would be cool to have the last name Beer on the Sox. I am not holding my breath that he actually pans out to be the 1st overall pick in 16 months.
  4. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 02:37 PM) That's because the Sox did not have the latest episode of The Cycle at the Sox website until today (February 2nd, 2017). Therefore, the show is now available on the TuneIn app. The search feature seems to omit podcasts which actually exist, but if you type "Ep. 24 Soxfest", you will find the latest show with guest Jim Thome (actually recorded on January 28th at Soxfest). . Found it, thanks.
  5. QUOTE (beautox @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 01:01 AM) he took up Hamilton's toe tap timing mechanism from a interview he had on mlb network. *swish*
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 05:25 PM) That is asking for trouble lol Spiegs has already had to say what Chicago athlete seems to be the biggest asshole (he said Kane), if he was mad his co-host was brought in from outside the station (he said he was pissed off about it), who he wanted as his partner (Rozner), reasons why he got divorced, and that's only from the 2 times I have heart parts of the segment. The ones I've heard Spiegs not answer are.....how big is dick is (Parkins volunteered his size, unprovoked) and who he would not save from The Score building if it was on fire.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 11:17 AM) I went to Vegas in early October for a bachelor party. Was a great time. I recommend getting a cabana at a pool (any pool but we were at the Flamingo). Also, can you link me to where you saw cheap tickets for Vegas? Every time I look, it's around $450 round trip like you said. Thanks. https://www.cheapoair.com Current cheapest for the same weekend is $290 through Spirit both ways.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 11:46 AM) Spirit is one of those nickle and dime airlines, so keep that in mind when you're packing. They charge for carry-on and checked bags, so pack light. My tickets are through American Airlines, I just used Spirit as an example of how expensive they had been prior to (and since) I grabbed my seats. I flew American to AZ last January, and was able to fit all clothes for the week in my carry on + backpack. Only doing 3 days in Vegas, so I'll have no problems with the same set-up.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 06:32 PM) Seriously guys, if I can get a Sox jersey with "Beer" on the back of it then my life is complete. And he will have to be #40. Or #69 to complete the hilarious jersey.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 05:32 PM) It's a nice thought that the 75th pick is eligible to be moved, but that seems too low to get excited about being part of a trade with Houston for Q. To me, it's not so much about us acquiring those picks in a trade, but it's about those 2 added picks for Houston allowing us to say "See, you just added 2 top 100 picks that can help replenish your system anyway" and them feeling like they can replenish their farm sooner after a big trade.
  11. Seth Beer is not the next Bryce Harper, but maybe the next Josh Hamilton.
  12. I agree with Spiegs, that "Can't do it" segment that Parkins brought in is reeeeeaally going to cause problems and Spiegs clearly hates playing it. I don't think I have a problem with Parkins, but I sense some animosity between him and Spiegs and it's uncomfortable to listen to.
  13. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Jan 31, 2017 -> 08:44 AM) That is a very good price. I can't see it dropping much more than that. I checked again today, and the cheapest tickets through American Airlines now are $430. So I think I did well. Groom thinks we can get our AirBNB place at the MGM for about $120 a person for the 3 nights. So we are talking under $300 for my flight + board, with access to MGM pools. My stress about this has changed to excitement, for sure.
  14. Was hoping Dunning would have been invited to Soxfest. I feel like he's the forgotten piece in the Eaton deal, yet he was still a 1st RD pick last year.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 31, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) I guess, but littlehurt said in his post that he bought the protection plan and the purchase was 15 months ago The complimentary 1 year warranty runs after the purchased warranty runs out? Or concurrently? The complimentary 1 year warranty runs after the manufacture's warranty, but before the extended warranty The extended warranty is 3 years. So if he did buy the protection plan, then he's covered for 5 years. If he paid for the TV with his Costco AMEX card, then he has 6 years of protection. Year 1 - Manufacturer Year 2 - Costco Concierge Year 3 - SquareTrade Year 4 - SquareTrade Year 5 - SqaureTrade Year 6 - American Express (now Citi Visa, which also gives you a 7th year) Either way, he's protected well beyond 15 months.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 31, 2017 -> 04:56 AM) That's exactly where I bought this TV, bro. Then you should know that you're covered. Call concierge service. And if you happened to have purchased it with the Costco Amex, you have a 3rd year as well.
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 31, 2017 -> 06:47 PM) Not that I wouldn't want Urina but he wouldn't be necessary for Jones. If it were up to me the package would be Urina, McGuire and Tellez but that's probably too much for Jones. No, no, that's WAY light, IMO. I would go for Alford, Urena, Tellez, McGuire. Look at the Ken Giles trade, Astros traded two top 100 prospects, plus their 2nd RD pick that year, plus another arm.
  18. Currently 41-19, 60 games in to 2017 (way better than I was in 2016), and this is my roster, complete with OVR ratings... SS - Tim Anderson (84) DH - Josh Bell (81) 2B - Yoan Moncada (86) 3B - Todd Frazier (91) LF - Charlie Blackmon (85) - Acquired prior to my 2016 start CF - David Dahl (88) C - Yasmani Grandal (78) RF - Dalton Pompey (73) - Rule 5 pick Bench - C Teddy Patrick (73), SS Jorge Polanco (74), 3B Matt Davidson (68), SS Tyler Saladino (77), CF Adam Engel (74) SP - Carlos Rodon (86) SP - Lucas Giolito (83) - Had a 21 strikeout game in last start SP - Reynaldo Lopez (81) SP - Miguel Gonzalez (74) SP - Alex Meyer (78) - Acquired prior to 2016 season Bullpen - CP Zack Burdi (85), SU Nate Jones (86), SU Paco Rodriguez (76 - Rule 5 pick), RP Zack Putnam (75), RP Ryan Cook (79 - Rule 5 pick), RP Ryan O'Rourke (64).
  19. Trades I made in my "Blow up the White Sox" The Show franchise.... (I made these trades during the 2016-2017 offseason, after I won the WS, of course). Chris Sale, Nick Williams (2016 draft pick) to Boston for 2B Yoan Moncada, SP Michael Kopech, SS Mauricio Dubon (No Basabe or Diaz in my roster). Jose Quintana, Carlos Beltran, Marlon Byrd to Pittsburgh for OF Austin Meadows, 1B Josh Bell, SS Kevin Newman Jose Abreu to Colorado for OF David Dahl, SP Jeff Hoffman, OF Raimel Tapia Adam Eaton, Brett Lawrie, Avisail Garcia to Washington for SP Lucas Giolito, SP Reynaldo Lopez, RP Stephen Shackleford David Robertson, Ira Allegri (2016 draft pick) to Los Angeles for C Yasmani Grandal, 1B Cody Bellinger, SP Yadier Alvarez I was having trouble getting the Eaton trade done, so I signed Beltran and Byrd for the sole purposes of making that trade, then realized that Lawrie/Avi combo worked, so I just threw both of them in the Quintana deal to get rid of them. It probably helped me steal Newman. Also, Melky had already been traded by now, and I didn't have Shields.
  20. Just booked my flight to Vegas for $131 round trip out of Chicago at the end of July. Have been stressing about how much this trip (bachelor party, I'm best man) would cost me, but this is a huge relief now that prices have come down. Just 2 weeks ago the cheapest I saw were $418 on Spirit Airlines both ways, red-eye flights. Now, there are a handful under $150. I realize booking 6 months early is....early, but how much cheaper could it have gone? $115? I am just glad I have it out of the way and don't have to stress out about price/airline/flight times. And I paid the extra $15 to have the ability to cancel my flight and trip insurance and ability to pick my seat, and all that.
  21. QUOTE (heirdog @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 06:31 PM) Fixed...but I agree with you. Abreu, perhaps, but Machado and Beer are not players you can currently pencil in, which is why I said we need to fill those gaps via draft, trade, and yes, Free Agency.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 04:32 PM) My LED TV suddenly screwed up yesterday. Everything is kind of blurry as everything seems to be slow and the pictures drag. Like as I watching the tennis, as they ran across the court, there would be lines following them as their old position stayed on the screen. Even when I use the menu screen, the old cursor stays on the screen for a few seconds. Anybody ever had a problem like that? I called Samsung and a tech is supposed to call me back in the next day. I did buy a protection plan when I first bought it, but that was only 15 months ago, so I hope Samsung still has a warranty on it. Get your TVs at Costco, bro.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 08:10 AM) Yep. Just need a nice collection of bats now. Yeah, I was just thinking about that. When you project out a 2019 team you get a sweet rotation of.... Rodon Kopech Giolito Lopez Fulmer/Dunning/Hansen with Burdi as the closer. Pretty sweet set of arms. But when you project our lineup you get...what... C - Collins (hopefully) 1B - Zangari???? 2B - Moncada 3B - Michalzcewski???? SS - Anderson LF - Fisher??? CF - Tilson/Call??? RF - Basabe I mean, those are 4 question marks there for a top system. We really need to fill some of those via future drafts and Quintana/Frazier/Robertson/Jones trades.
  24. I would take Tellez, Bichette, McGuire for Robertson and $15M.
  25. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 03:43 AM) The Cycle' podcast available at this link: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/fan_forum/...dcast=the_cycle and TuneIn Radio app . I can't find this anywhere on TuneIn.
