  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 17, 2016 -> 09:00 PM) Benintendi's more similar to Ellsbury/Gardner than a perennial MVP candidate. Why would Devers be higher than Moncada? Just for power numbers? Just watched the Keith Law video from the Winter Meetings where he talked about the Sale deal and he said Moncada is "one of the best 10 or 15 prospects in baseball". His midseason rankings had Benny and Devers both in the top 10, so unless those guys saw their rankings fall (no way Benny did, Devers hit .313 after his rankings), Moncada will be behind both of those guys once he does his offseason rankings.
  2. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 05:51 PM) Normally when I try to justify ranking a player lower I dont compare him to the reigning NL MVP Two different people said those things.
  3. QUOTE (TRU @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 07:35 AM) I think you have to play Farrow over Crowell. Hes going to get volume, and his competition is Ronnie Hillman who sucks. They also are playing in good weather conditions where as Crowell is on the road in a nasty environment. I think when you have close decisions to make, you should lean towards the guy in the better offense playing in better conditions, but that's just me. The only thing that worries me about Farrow is that if he starts slow, I worry they may give Hillman or others a chance. Whereas Crowell will keep getting fed the ball. I had no idea what the weather reports were though, hadn't even considered it. Good thing for me is that Powell is doing great, and last minute tonight I decided to start Landry (horrible Jets D, didn't want to play both Brady AND Mitchell against a good D just in case Brady gets shut down). Landry has me 17 points so far and has finally given me a good game since I (stupidly) traded for him.
  4. I though it was good, not great. Liked it better than Episodes 1-3, but I would put it after 4-7. I liked The Force Awakens much better. Partly because it was a fun adventure movie, but also because I had no idea how TFA would end or where it would go. In this movie, we already knew that they would successfully get the plans, and So a lot of the movie I was just waiting for the dots to connect. The action scenes were dope though, and good moral conflict with Gaelin (sp?). Thought the CGI was pretty lame, although as far as CGI goes, they were both REALLY good, especially Tarkan. Was hoping they would have just done a "from behind" shot of Leia, or a different actress from a distance. A couple of plot hole questions....
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) What the hell is up with the Cars trailer? Electric Vehicle baby!

  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) Moncada put up wRC+ in the 150s range at both A+ & AA. That is the definition of results. If people want to overreact to a handful of major league at-bats (when he had no business being up in the first place) more power to them. Just telling you what I've heard. It sounds like a lot of people, including the Red Sox, put Benintendi over Moncada anyway, and I like Law also puts Devers over Moncada.
  8. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) I really dont undestand why Moncada would be losing stock because of 19 AB's. Giolito sure, but I dont think Moncada falls off much if at all. Because of his high K-rates and tools over results. I did hear one scout/analyst who said Moncada has a similar swing to Bryant, and Bryant was a high strikeout rate guy in the minors (28.6% in AAA) and even his rookie season in the majors (30.6%), but lowered it to a ton for his MVP season (22%). Said if Moncada can do that, then he's pretty much a 5 plus-tool guy.
  9. I think a lot of this is based on the fact that MLB Pipeline thinks Moncada and Gio are top 3 prospects. I would bet Fangraphs, BA, BP would all have Moncada somewhere closer to 10, and Gio closer to 20-25.
  10. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) It isn't, considering he has a no-movement clause. No-movement? Never heard of that clause in sports. Specifically made in case of expansion teams?
  11. I felt like I was reading one of those OOTP franchise articles.
  12. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) Soo.. is Beer the second coming of Bryce Harper? What's all the hype about? Nah
  13. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 01:05 AM) Without Gordon this week, I am projected to lose by 23 (111 to 88). I am crossing my fingers I can pick up Bilal Powell (14 projected) to fill in for Gordon, but I also have Farrow in as a 2nd waiver claim in case I lose Powell to someone. Ended up getting both guys. My projected is now 94 to his 111. My only toss ups this week are Brady or Cam (going Brady, despite projected to score only 11 vs 16), and Crowell (10.1) or Farrow (9.7). I'm going Crowell simply because Farrow is a rookie, so if he has a bad 1st quarter, they could start giving his carries away. I'll wait to use him until next week possibly when I am either playing for 1st, or 3rd.
  14. I would love for the Hawks to expose Seabrook to the Knights if that's possible.
  15. I've been one of the more vocal ones in the "root for losses" group, and I definitely will in 2017, but not until the Sox are out of the race. I'll still root for them to win every game in April and May. But come June, if they are 10 games under .500 already and way behind everyone, I'll start rooting for losses. But until I determine they are out of it, I'll still root for wins.
  16. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) It took the threat of the Nationals for Dombrowski to pony up, Sox need to find a new muse to work on Luhnow. That Joel Sherman tweet of "80% chance Sale goes to the Nationals" still rings in my ear. I thought it was 80% chance he gets moved during the meetings?
  17. Without Gordon this week, I am projected to lose by 23 (111 to 88). I am crossing my fingers I can pick up Bilal Powell (14 projected) to fill in for Gordon, but I also have Farrow in as a 2nd waiver claim in case I lose Powell to someone.
  18. I'm going Friday as well. Pumped.
  19. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 01:18 AM) Trade for Pint and you would have the easiest and most fun marketing job the baseball world has ever seen. Beer Pint Burger We would be the most liked team in the league. Don't forget we still have Jace Fry.
  20. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 01:32 AM) You would have to think we will be in the top 2 for the 2018 draft. What a time to be alive. Gray looks amazing but Beer looks unworldly. I don't know man, it's not like we are far and away one of the worst teams. I think top 10 draft pick is a safe bet, and top 5 is a good chance. But we would have to move Q, Frazier, Robertson, Jones, Abreu for me to think we have a chance at #1.
  21. No matter what we trade Quintana for, it will end up being considered by fans and ESPN/MLB Network as just as big of a steal as the Adam Eaton trade was. I say this because Q and Eaton are underrated players due to playing for the lowly White Sox. People think of them as average players. So when we end up getting someone's top prospects again, people will flip their lids thinking we got all that for a "solid #3 starter". Just you watch.
  22. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 12:32 AM) They were absolutely unbeatable for years. Not only did they have Tapia, Moran, and Reed hitting 50 home runs a year but they also signed Harper who was putting up MVP numbers and Altuve nearly breaking hit records. Anyways back on topic. While we are on the topic of video games happenings, I swear, EVERY YEAR of MLB The Show I had ended with Sale on the Red Sox at some point. And I think Abreu always ended up going to like either NY or BOS. And the Sox always ended up with Machado I think, or some INF star.
  23. I'm weirdly very excited about Basabe. Like in my head for some reason I keep thinking his ceiling (I'm talking max skill) is something like Mike Cameron. .260 hitter with 20-25 HR, 20-25 SB, plus defense. Except Cameron has better plate discipline with BB and K rates.
