  1. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 23, 2014 -> 08:24 AM) Dallas would also need Green Bay and Detroit to tie to get the 2nd seed. That's not what that article says, unless that article is wrong/outdated.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 02:22 PM) It's nice to see the homeruns. Crappy competition or not with his swing I'm always worried about him getting lift on the ball. His swing path reminds of of a right-handed Mark Kotsay. Just smash everything in to the ground.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 23, 2014 -> 12:17 AM) Because it would be a three way tie between Dallas, Seattle, and Detroit/Packers, not head to head. Here are the rules my friend http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures I found this article and it showed me my rooting interests for the weekend. http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2014/12/21/...first-round-bye Dallas can be no worse than the #3 seed, and can become the #2 seed with a win Sunday, and losses by Seattle (who play the Rams), and Cardinals (who play the 49ers). Rams won the last time they played Seattle, Cardinals won the last time they played San Fran.
  4. Pirate get Kang? Dang. I really hope he does well.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 02:52 AM) If Seattle wins next Sunday , they win the NFC West, so Arizona is #5 or #6 as a wild card team and doesn't matter in the tiebreaking. Dallas would be ahead of Seattle if only those two teams tied. However , barring a tie in Lambeau, either GB or Detroit will also be 12-4. Then it's a 3 way tie and you go to conference record, which Seattle wins. Assuming Dallas beats Washington next week, I don't understand how Seattle could possibly be a better ranked seed. You're right about Arizona though, I forgot they'd be forced to be a wild card team regardless of record.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 07:58 AM) .....no Well you've been awfully pissy the last couple days, must also be the reason for those random comments about Rienzo's ex-girlfriend. Lighten up, pal, it's the Holidays.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 21, 2014 -> 08:55 PM) So Seattle is going to be the 1 seed in the NFC, good luck everyone else. I know they have lost in Seattle this year but I don't see that happening with how they're playing at the moment. Why wouldn't Dallas be ahead of Seattle? They both are 11-4, and Dallas beat Seattle this season. Arizona would hold the tiebreaker over Dallas though. Just guessing, but isn't Arizona likely to be the #1 seed, and then if Detroit wins next week, they are the #2 seed. If those 2 teams don't win, then I have no idea what will happen, but I *think* the best my Cowboys can do is the #2 seed, because whoever wins the Detroit/Packers game would get seeded better than Dallas.
  8. And now Jeffrey has one go through his hands. They must love Jay.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 21, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) He's already thrown a couple passes that could have been picked and has completed one pass more than like 5 yards down the field. And he's thrown about 3 or 4 balls that have hit the receivers in the palms and they've dropped it. WR's are doing him no favors.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 21, 2014 -> 06:41 AM) I'm sure you two are very close friends. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 21, 2014 -> 06:41 AM) Yes, I'm sure she's always looking for you at parties. Uhh...ok?
  11. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 09:05 PM) A google search tells me no but maybe I'm missing someting...In an effort to save money I'm thinking about getting a roku...but only if theres way to full baseball, basketball, and football games...I'm SOL n that regard right? If you are making an effort to save money, then don't get a Roku, get a Chromecast.
  12. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 06:21 PM) There needs to be a harsher penalty in order to stop teams from doing this. I know they'll have to wait for the new CBA, but the commissioner needs to put a foot down. I think that if a team goes over their bonus pool by more than 20% that they would forfeit their INTL bonus pool the following year (That money would be redistributed across the teams) and get their INTL pool the year after that cut in half (the money would be redistributed across the teams). They are taking advantage of it because they know why the next time there is a CBA, an Int'l draft will be implemented, so their penalties will be wiped. I don't know if this is feasible, but maybe tell them if you exceed your bonus pool by 1-50%, then you lose your 1st RD pick in the Int'l draft when it is implemented. If you exceed it by 50-100%, then you lose your 1st and 2nd, if you exceed it by 100-150%, you lose your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd RD picks, and so on and so forth for however many rounds exist. Make that the penalty ON TOP of the current penalty. But again, by the time they would agree to that, they will be agreeing to a draft and it wouldn't matter at that point. I think teams are just getting away with stealing talent right now and it's the rich teams that are getting richer, because everyone can't afford to pay 100% tax on these guys. I wish the Sox would jump to the fray, but I think Reinsdorf is far too loyal with Selig and crew to ever exploit the rules.
  13. QUOTE (ron883 @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) Are we going into the 2014 season still? No, we aren't. there is a season worth of data you missed. Baez looked completely overmatched at the MLB level. He has always been an overrated prospect IMO. Alcantara didn't impress me too much either. They didn't dominate their first few months in the majors? f*** 'em then, value gone. You're insane if you think they are suddenly not exciting anymore because of their cups of coffee last season. Just those 3 alone would be a better prospect package than anything I've seen for a player in a while. When was the last time 3 top 50 players were traded in the same deal? I understand those rankings were pre-2014, but all trades in the offseason are evaluating using those rankings that are 10 months old. I personally don't like Javy Baez. I don't think he'll ever make enough contact for his thunderous bat to capitalize on, but the scouts obviously disagree with me, and those other 2 guys are better than any OF prospect we've had since.....Joe Borchard I guess? EDIT: Sorry, Alcantara was ranked #83. I was thinking where he would be ranked next year. Apologies, but I still think can't think of a haul of 3 top, let's say 75, ranked prospects.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) Well, the trade to get Upton the other day was fairly similar, although that was only for 1 year of him. ......no.
  15. Also, 11 teams are now out. I like how the bid was $5,002,015. "2015", that's very cute.
  16. I really hope we won the bid on Kang. He's obviously a bit of a risk, but I prefer the gamble on him bringing that power over than Carlos Sanchez or Micah Johnson starting at 2B for us. I like Micah, but I am highly interested in the upside Kang has.
  17. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 05:11 AM) If the core of the deal were to be Baez,Almora, and Alcantara for Longoria that would be pretty bad for the Rays. I think the deal starts with Russell or Bryant and they move from there, which is why I think the Cubs won't do it. I think the #4 prospect, #25 prospect, and #83 prospect in baseball going in to 2014 is a pretty damn good start.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 11:41 PM) Forgive my rant in advance. ... So Alex Rios signs with KC for 11 million dollars. Now since he gets to play the Sox 19 times (we know what ex Sox players do to the Sox as in kill them) he might produce a bit. But you've got to be kidding me? Alex Rios hasn't shown the baseball world how INVALUABLE he is by now? I tell you, baseball is one profession you can get paid and not have to produce. After the year he had last year he gets to pocket 11 more million?? And Kendrys Morales gets to pocket 8 million?? The list goes on. I tell you, we'd all be better off if baseball owners just paid these ballplayers pennies and let the customer go to the game for movie-like prices. 10-12 bucks a game. Sad that this elitist sport is run by people who get all that TV money and don't mind giving "players" like Alex Rios 11 million a year when he has PROVEN he's a mediocre to lousy ballplayer. My god. Tell me
  19. QUOTE (lvjeremylv @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 01:25 AM) Then see ya, Samardzija. If you want to lure upper tier pitchers these days, you have to go outside your comfort level and give them more than you'd ideally "want' to do. Otherwise you won't get any of them. Thanks for the pro tip.
  20. A lot of them my age do it funny and ironically. Hell, I say it to my white friends as a joke, but never in public or around our black friends. I don't think I've ever said it referring to a black person. Kids in HS probably use it normally. Kids 10 years from now will probably all use it and not even know why. It would be nice if one day a stupid word, and all the variations of the word, didn't have so much power and didn't make people so upset, people who were never affected by it's original negative connotation.
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 06:59 PM) I'm in the same boat. I'm on a company line where there's just no way it's advantageous for me to get an off-contract device short of needing one before I'm eligible for upgrade. The thing is, if I call them (ATT), they always give me an early upgrade. My G2 is great still, so I'm not in the market for a phone, I just thought the One+ was an interesting concept. Maybe I'll call AT&T next summer and see if they can give me a couple month early upgrade if the new G4, or some other nice phone comes out.
  22. QUOTE (BigFinn @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 07:58 PM) Not only do the Cubs have Bryant coming up, but one of Castro, Baez, or Russell may end up manning their hot corner (my money is on Castro with Russell at short and Baez at 2B). If the Sox trade for Longoria, then they might as well throw in Michalczewski into the trade mix because Longoria is your 3B for until at least 2022. Michalczewski, Gillaspie, and a couple of arms might get their attention. Bryant is not a 3B beyond this year. Longoria would be a massive defensive upgrade over Bryant at 3B. The Rays would absolutely be asking for either Baez or Russell in return for that deal. The guy you keep takes over 2B. They'd probably also throw a guy like Almora in maybe Alcantara in that deal as well to free up an OF spot for Bryant.
  23. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 06:57 PM) The answer is Kris Bryant. Kris Bryant is not a 3B.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 04:44 PM) If they wanted to sign him before opening day, 7/140 seems about right. If he was looking at 6 year deal after 2015, then 10 this year, and about 21-22 the other 6. Something like that? 7 years? Yeesh, not going anywhere near that. I wouldn't want to go any more than 5 years.
