  1. Did anyone catch the season premiere of Parks and Rec tonight? They introduced a law firm named something like Fwar, Vorp, Pecota, Babip, Dips, and Eckstein attorney at law. A nice sabermetrix hat tip.
  2. I'll be real disappointed if we pass on Daz Cameron to draft a 2B.
  3. Shields would be my dream signing, but that won't happen. As far as trades go, I'd love to acquire Jonathan Lucroy, but that's just another move that is a pipe dream. A target I feel may be a little more realistic, although still a hard pick-up, would be C Devin Mesoraco from the Reds. I don't see a catcher listed on their top prospect lists though, so they probably wouldn't move him unless they are getting some real solid prospects back. Would they go for Flowers, Anderson, and Sanchez? I'm not sure.
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 04:20 PM) there, you just did it in 4 lines. Just wait, those headlines will come, and then some meatheads will end of eating that s*** up.
  5. QUOTE (napa_soxfan @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 02:43 PM) Eaton baby. Got to meet Joel Youngblood yesterday during a tasting. Great guy. He's currently an outfield instructor with Arizona and after restraining myself from asking baseball q's until he was nearly through (and a bit looser-lipped), I mentioned Adam Eaton. This led to a few animated "He's my boy!"s and "I taught him everything he knows"s. However, it was more interesting when he talked being pissed that he was traded from the D-backs, AND that he thinks he will lead the league in hitting soon. Wouldn't that be a kick in arse for 2015?? If he gets back to his "groundball up the middle" stroke he had last spring training, he could give it a shot. I swear, he must have been hitting over .400 at times in ST because he would just put a light swing on the ball and ground it back up the middle for about 70% of his hits. It looked so easy for him. Then the season started and he got away from that. Maybe because the infields are much softer in the majors vs. Arizona.
  6. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) Maybe you meant it's NOT a lot of K's ?? 28 in 49 innings is nothing for a guy with that repertoire and fastball. So it seems odd to me. Yeah, I meant to say "low". And son of a b****, Arizona.
  7. The dumb fluff pieces are already coming out, huh? I wonder who will write the article about Viciedo being in the best shape of his life, or that Samardzija is ready to live out his childhood dream, or that Adam LaRoche still has something left in the tank, or that Zach Duke is out to show 2014 wasn't a fluke, or that Melky is also in the best shape of his life, or that Abreu is striving to avoid the sophomore slump, or that Danks is poised to return to form, etc.
  8. Finished S1 of Bates Motel. Man that show makes me feel super uncomfortable, which is it's intention. I really love the show though. It's unlike any other show I watch. Some of the love interest stuff is far too heavy handed, but I can't wait to start season 2.
  9. I hope that Nix gets drafted by another AL West team in the first 4 rounds so he will not only get more money, but will be able to exact revenge on the Astros. That'd be a fun player to watch.
  10. I would say the SS the A's gave up may end up being ranked similarly to Anderson, which is what I said our package would start with.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) The team in blue and read. Those are the Twins. They're a bunch of p*****s I get far too pumped up when they talk about teams that I like. lol.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 04:22 PM) Dude, most fans on this board are Bears fans, think about that. And if it happened to the Packers, they'd be laughing at the Packers too.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 04:23 PM) If it happened to the Panthers you wouldn't be claiming he made a football move, so it goes both ways. If I hated the Panthers, you're right, I'd just be laughing at them, not defending them.
  14. Saw American Sniper last night. It was a decent movie. Seemed more like here's a clip of him sniping a guy, here's another clip, here's a really moral conflicting one, here's another. Movie didn't seem to have a real exciting story. You could fall asleep through parts and not miss anything important to the story. Also. I've read that Chris Kyle was much more of an asshole and a ruthless killer than they portray in the movie. I guess he was a hero, but he wasn't a nice person and was more of a channeled psychopath.
  15. I thought the season debut of Shameless kind of sucked. Very few funny moments that didn't involve Kev and V. I'm sure it will get better though.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) It's always a fun argument when everyone in the thread agrees except the one person who happens to be a fan of the team who didn't get the call. It's always going to happen when everyone loves to hate and laugh at that team. If this happened to the Panthers no one would care. But it's funny when it happens to a team everyone hates. It's no surprise.
  17. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 03:43 PM) I don't get the 4th and 2 bomb there. Just get the two yards and keep the chains moving. I agree. I don't know why you don't hit Witten with a 5 yard pass there. He is nearly automatic on those short 3rd (or 4th) downs. It was a weird call, but obviously Romo liked the 1 on 1.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) There was no football move. Stretching for the endzone is a football move.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) But he was going to the ground, hence the above rule. He was not in the act of catching the pass. The act ended once he made a football move. Same as a player who catches the ball at the 5 yard line and immediately dives to the endzone. Once he dives after he catches the pass, the completion of the catch is over with.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 03:21 PM) Do we need to repost the pics of the blatant holding no-calls in favor of Dallas, especially on critical plays? I didn't say the PI call was the only bad call that went in Dallas' favor. There were bad calls all over the place for and against both teams. To try the Cowboys got all the calls versus Detroit is just wrong, or maybe you didn't watch the game, I don't know.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) I saw it the first time after the ruling had been made so maybe that's biasing me, but this doesn't even really seem like a "process of the catch" ruling. He just didn't have control of it as he's falling towards the goal line, and the ball pops out when it hits the ground. Not a bad call and more along the lines of the old standard incompletion rules than the newer "process" rules. Either way, not comparable to the ridiculous officiating gifts Dallas got against Detroit. There was more calls that went Detroit's way last week than Dallas'. The biggest/latest call is just the only one people remember. Also, don't forget that the NFL laughably decided Suh could play last week, which had a bigger impact than any blown call in that game. Detroit wouldn't have had a chance without Suh, and that was the biggest blown call/advantage of all.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) Nowhere in the rule about a player going to the ground does it say anything about a "football move" Football move = act common to the game (like diving or stretching for the endzone) Once he performs a move other than just making the catch, he's a catch. If he was just trying to catch it, he would have tucked it in. He clearly felt he had control, because he reached for the endzone with the ball.
  23. That's a lot total of strikeouts for throwing 4 pitches, and one of them can top 100 MPH.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 08:30 AM) The highlighted is the only correct part of this post. It's a dumb rule for sure, but it was absolutely the correct call based on those rules. The Lions were legitimately screwed by the refs last week. The Cowboys were lucky to even be here still. Not even the same situation. It is quite the comedic karma seeing the difference in opinion from Cowboys fans from last week to this week however. You see the catch and then it gets reversed. It's almost as if a flag got picked up and cancelled, huh? So do the Packer's have "karma" coming to them next week because they got the benefit of a bad call this week? I assume the difference in opinion between by the fans last week and this week is in no way referring to me, since I've said many times that last week's call was a bad call when it happened.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 07:30 AM) Here's Megatron's non-TD catch again http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlig...Megatron-non-TD Megatron didn't make a "football move" or a "second act" like the announcers say in the video. Not that I would expect him to do so in the endzone, but Dez actually did more to prove he had possession when he made his second act by reaching for the goalline. Megatron's was more of an incomplete catch than Dez's was.
