MLB Network Top 10 Right Now

QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 09:00 AM) The Shredder takes it back 2-3 years. Sale will be higher than Kluber. Probably higher than Sale- Kershaw, Scherzer, Felix. Can't imagine Sale will be lower than 4th. I think Kershaw, Scherzer, Felix, and Darvish will be all above Sale. Either way, I am pretty sure Sale will get the best ranking from The Shredder where popularity doesn't matter, and then he will slip on everyone else's lists because no one cares about the White Sox. He'll fall behind guys like Kluber, Jose Fernandez maybe, Cole Hamels somehow, maybe Verlander. I just don't trust the guys even on MLB Network will respect Sale. -
Just started Black Mirror tonight. It is only 6 episodes per season, and I've heard it's really good and really dark. But I also heard it is going to be pulled off Netflix soon, so I wanted to binge it. Only 11 minutes in to the first episode, but I'm highly entertained so far.

Alright I backed up the OOTP 15 "mostly updated roster" file if anyone wants it. Also, if anyone doesn't actually own OOTP 15 and wants it, PM me and I can send you a link to the torrent, provided you're okay with that. Otherwise I think the game is now $20.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 01:06 AM) Sounds interesting. Can you share roster like MLB The Show You can save the franchise file I think, which is just a roundabout way of sharing rosters I believe. The slight problem with that is I don't know how to do it, and I've already begun my offseason. Although it probably wouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes to revert all the changes that have occurred in the 2 weeks I've advanced, like acquiring Yan Gomes, extending Samardzija, and a pending offer with Shields. Sidenote, I got just an email saying Mike Illitch has died and his son Ben is taking over the Tigers. Damn, OOTP, getting real dark there.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 10:54 PM) I play in an OOTP league (2053 World Champion Expos!) and were currently using OOTP 14. If any of you guys want to try an OOTP15 league there are guys from the league Im in harassing people to join a new league. I almost joined an OOTP 15 league today, but I read through the vast amount of rules and "hardcore" settings and I decided against it. I've spent the entire day, on and off, making all the notable transactions of this current offseason to get the rosters set up for a 2015 start. Some may say a waste of time, others may say a GIANT waste of time. I just didn't want to start a Sox franchise with a roster that is so vastly different. Shark, Robertson, Melky, LaRoche, Duke, Emilio change the dynamic of the team so, so much.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) Soto has exactly zero career 3-home run games. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...otoge01&t=b You shut your whore mouth.

MLB Network Top 10 Right Now

Well they are down to the final 4 guys, and no Melky yet, so he won't be in The Shredder's top 10 at least. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) Did Melky crack the LF list? They actually did the RF list from 8-9 pm, and the LF list is from 9-10 PM tonight. A writer from Fangraphs, whom I somehow have never heard of, is on the panel right now talking RF'ers, and he just said he has Jorge Soler in his top 10. Come on, guy. In other rival news, I totally forgot how amazing J.D. Martinez was last year. -
Rodon *NOT* to "probably" begin Sox career in pen
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Andy the Clown's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 05:31 PM) I hope they keep Rodon as a starter too. Keep him stretched out and if he's needed, he's just a callup away. Is that the girl he broke up with after signing? No, that was Keely Warren or something like that. This new girl is from Indiana is is/was a Cubs fan. -

Top 10 LF and RF episodes start in 10 minutes on MLB Network. -
Is he even major league ready? If we sign him and he has to go to AA, that may not be a bad move if Avi doesn't pan out for a couple years or if Eaton inevitably hurts himself.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) Is Togetherness on HBO worth trying? I tried watching the first episode. Probably only made it halfway through before I had to bail. I hated it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 12:25 PM) I had 11 and played it up until I got my new computer. I am planning on getting another soon. Another computer, or another version of OOTP? I was able to torrent the version I have now, if you want a link.

I was at the game his rookie season when he hit 3 HR....I think against the Braves or Phillies. That is all.

And both guys we got back for Crain when we traded him to the Rays went on to play Independent league baseball in 2014. lol.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 12:56 AM) Not sure, I was going for Hermes from Futurama. I picked up what you were putting down. Sweet giant anteater of Santa Anita!

I thought this was going to be a "would you want this good thing, at a cost of this bad thing?" Instead it's "Would you want this good thing, and then also this even better thing?" So to answer your question......hell yes, and hell yes.

Anyone play Out of the Park baseball? I'm currently downloading OOTP 15 because I've been dying to play another baseball sim ever since BMO baseball crashed and never came back online. I've been watching videos and it looks insanely detailed, probably too detailed for my liking, but I look forward to building a Rick Hahn-like dynasty. First order of business will be trading Adam Dunn for a real catcher. Most video games value Adam Dunn rather highly because he always has awesome power/plate disc. ratings.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 12:25 PM) That is very, very bad! I assume you kicked their ass. Nope, they raped me. Just in the 1st inning, Eaton lined a double down the left field line, next batter reached on a bunt (RTTS as a pitcher is nearly impossible to field a bunt w/ catcher camera angle because the camera has to switch orientation upon contact), and then Gillaspie hit a 3-run HR. I think I lasted maybe 4 innings, allowed 6 runs I think. I also gave up a BOMB to Montero, and then Alvarez hit a HR as well. My team lost, and the Sox won the AL Central. And sidenote: I just finished the regular season and our matchup for the ALDS is.....Angels vs. White Sox. So I'll see these jerks again.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 07:07 PM) how is that suppose to protect those in the world series?? QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) Why does it protect those who play in CWS? I would think if I were a player, i'd rather get drafted early before my arm gets blown out or a team gets more concerned, etc. At that point, I figure downside risk is more likely than upside risk. Not often are you going to shoot up draft boards because you got hot during the CWS (doesn't work quite the same as say march madness or a player getting hot in the playoffs ala Tim Thomas and than turning that into a massive contract). The idea is that you just drafted a guy, and you don't want him to be a liability because some coach overused him in the CWS. There have been stories in the past of teams being upset that certain programs will fully exhaust a pitcher in the CWS because they already know he got drafted and if he blows out his arm, who cares, he left the program already. Rodon had some of these issues being pushed 130+ pitches for a team his coach knew he would never play for again. And another reason could be that players may try harder if they are pushing to increase their draft stock, not saying "Well, I'm a millionaire already, f*** this team, get me out of here so I can start pro ball". I get both points, they make sense for a team perspective. But from a fan perspective, it's annoying because I really enjoyed following which players the Sox drafted that are in the CWS. I promise you I would have never watched a Rice Owl baseball game if I didn't know the Sox had drafted Christian Stringer. But being able to watch guys like Gordon Beckham and Adam Engel and Jared Mitchell with rooting interest was actually fun. Now, I'll probably watch significantly less of the CWS this summer.
-
We now have another month to argue about who we take at #8. The league is close to pushing back the draft until July 1st, so protect those who play in the College World Series.
-
I think he's the biggest unknown on this team. Could be really solid, could be nothing. We haven't really seen him yet.

White Sox Projected to Reduce Ks Substantially in 2015
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Eminor3rd's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The biggest example of less strikeouts not automatically meaning more offense is right there in the numbers with the Braves. They are said to possibly have the worst offense in baseball next year, but are also projected to drop their K rate substantially. However, in context, we can see the Sox actually ADDED a few of upgrades offensively, while the Braves removed many of them.
