Anyone here watch Peaky Blinders? It's a BBC show that Netflix has recently picked up. I assume the relationship will be similar to how Sherlock is aired normally in the UK, and then Netflix and PBS (maybe?) airs it here months afterwards. My buddy saw the first episode and told me I need to watch it. I guess it's like a British version of Boardwalk Empire. Takes place in the 20s and is about the gangs in London. Tom Hardy has joined the cast for season 2, a cast that consists of Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) and Cillian Murphy (The bad guy in pretty much every movie).

Offered Terrance Williams for Giovani Bernard. Hoping he doesn't notice that Bernard already had his BYE week and Williams is having his next week. Maybe I'll throw in Wes Welker. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 09:42 AM) Any chance the Sox will try to get ahead of the arbitration opt-out this winter and try to re-negotiate a longer deal? I'd wait it out and offer a deal after he isn't coming off an MVP season, assuming he doesn't continue this production for 3 years.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 09:08 AM) How the hell were Ingram and Forsett still on the wire in your league the last few weeks? How did Tom Brady get dropped? We've got some dumb people in our league. It's a group of friends, so some people are in it because they are our friends, not because they are any good at fantasy football. Hell, my uncle was a last second addition because we had a guy drop out and he doesn't even know you can add players off free agency. LOL. Of course his team is 4-1 right now, that lucky bastard. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) Well, its based on the book, which didnt have an ending like you wanted either. Yes, I'm aware. I didn't read the book, but my cousin did and she said it's the same ending in the book and movie.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 02:32 PM) Had no problem with it. Not everything is happily ever after. That part wasn't my problem. I often enjoy endings that the audience didn't want, like Prisoners or Buried, and I like to think about ambiguous endings like Inception or Shutter Island, but this movie really didn't even HAVE an ending.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 09:08 AM) You do realize that Yelich is a 4 WAR player this year and was the 6th best prospect last year. I think the kid can be a 20/20, 6 WAR player in a year or two, while providing good walk rate and good defense in LF. While Cishek is a closer in his prime who does hit free agency till 2018. I doubt Marlins would even do that trade, but if they offer, I'd consider. I actually had not realized that he was a 4 WAR player last year, that surprises me. For some reason I've just never trusts him to pan out o be any more than an average outfielder. Interesting thing I just saw whilst googling Yelich was that the Marlins are internally discussing moving him from LF to 1B next season. That will hurt his value some.

f***, I lost the waiver claim on Mark Ingram, but I did win the claims of Tom Brady and Justin Forsett. The cocksucker who vultured Ingram already has DeMarco Murray and Marshawn Lynch, the #1 and #2 RB so far this season. Bastard. -
Gotham was a little ridiculous last night with the balloon man thing. I'm not knowledgeable on weather balloons, so maybe they CAN actually life an adult human off the ground, but I'm not so sure that they rise all the way to the atmosphere STRAIGHT up in the air without the wind moving it. The fact that the victims fell right back down on to Gotham is highly, highly unlikely. Secondly. Why wouldn't Jim Gordon shoot the balloon instead of jumping on the guy and floating up with him? Was he REALLY willing to risk his life/legs just to prove that Bullock would save him? I get him not wanting the Balloonman to die, but he should have shot the balloon down, not jumped up and grabbed the guy.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 12:52 AM) I hope everyone here watches this show. I have never laughed so hard in my life at the clip above. I am not one who laughs a lot during tv shows but I am always laughing during Impractical Jokers I adore this show. I envy their friendship more than almost anything else on that show. Haha. I always feel bad for Murr though. He's so clearly the outcast of the group.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 12:51 PM) That is not correct fully. Sox draft allotment was 9,509,700. The 5% cap was at $9,985,184.99 One penny more, and they lost a draft pick. The Sox spent 9,984,600. They were $584.99 under losing a draft pick. Another $40k costs them a pick. And knowing Reetz would cost more than Fry, they could have saved money on one of the other picks RD 4-10.

Someone finally figured out Childish Gambino's secret track from 10 months ago. Although to be fair, i think you may have needed this new mixtape to do it. Either way, someone on Reddit who knows how to code figured it out.

3 moves I just made to shake my awful 1-4 team up..... Drop Adrian Peterson Pick up Mark Ingram (returns week 7, AP may never return) Drop Torrey Smith Add Justin Forsett (My RBs are horrible, and it was between dropping Smith or Zac Stacy. Went with Smith since he's done jack s*** so far) Drop Andy Dalton Add Tom Brady (Romo is my starter, but I can't imagine Brady being this bad, all year long. He *should* rebound, then maybe I trade him after the Cowboys bye week) Thoughts? -
QUOTE (Kevtrem @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 11:44 PM) If the Marlins are looking for pitching, how palatable is a Quintana for Yelich and Cishek trade? Ew, no thanks on that front. If Q is going to the Marlins, give me 3B Colin Moran, SP Anthony DeSclafani, C J.T. Realmuto, and C/2B/3B Austin Barnes. Q was a top 10 WAR pitcher this season, and signed to a very nice, long deal. His value should be huge, and those are 4 potential top 10 players in the Marlins system.

Is Corey Hart worth a shot?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to TheFutureIsNear's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sure, give him a 1 yr/$5M deal and then swing him for a trade in July. -
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 05:48 PM) I really wanted then to draft Reetz badly, he can really hit. Other guys I wanted were Monte Harrison, Jacob Gatewood and Forrest Wall Yep, Quinarvy got me on the Reetz train as well. I will certainly be following his progress w/ the Nats.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 09:08 PM) Read after you watch it. Well, she f***ed and fell in love with an American Terrorist, I think it's right in line with her being a terrible human being. Also, does her baby have Down Syndrome? It kind of looked that way some times, and then not like it other times. Figured it would have been mentioned though if she did.

I'm getting absolutely smoked again. Calvin Johnson, Vernon Davis, and Zac Stacy are killing me. I picked up Ebron today because I figured Vernon would miss this week again, and Ebron scored 0 pts. I think Calvin/Davis/Stacy have combined for probably 9 pts over the last 2 weeks. Horrible. Might throw in the towel this season at 1-4 and make some crazy trades with another s***ty team just to see what happens. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 12:45 PM) Wasn't conclusive. Looked like his hands got under the ball. Don't buy everything the announcers feed you. Was a pretty brutal hit to Golson's head that didn't get called though. I don't understand the announcers saying "clearly that ball hit the ground" when it looked more like the ball bounced off his fingers. I don't think the announcers realize that if you lay your hand flat on the ground, the ball can receive the same bouncing motion that you see when the ball hits the ground, because that's exactly what it look like happened. Hardly a conclusive call like they were saying. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 4, 2014 -> 08:28 PM) Since no one asked, my Heisman after today: 1- Prescott 2- Gurley 3- Mariota 4- Golson 5- Cooper Marshall (AU) has a great chance to get into consideration with a big game next week. I haven't seen those other guys other than Golson, because I don't follow NCCA football much, but I can't imagine Golson being anywhere NEAR a top 5 in Heisman. I am not a fan of his at all. -
So Gone Girl was.....interesting. Like someone else said, it was a little far fetched, and had a s***ty and frustrating ending, but it had a LOT of twists and turns and almost felt like 3 different movies. I thought the movie was going to end like 3 different times, and it kept evolving in to a new plot. I don't want to spoil anything, but I can think of about 3-4 things about this movie that didn't make sense or that I would have done differently in these situations.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 4, 2014 -> 07:50 PM) Lol yea, American Psycho is not connected to Psycho. It is, however, connected to The Rules of Attraction. Christian Bales character in American Psycho is James Van Der Beeks older brother. And yea, the movie is really weird I checked the IMDB of the movie and saw that the main character's name was "Bateman", so the show being called "Bate's Motel" made sense to me and I continued watching. Oh well.
