White Sox sign 4 on July 2 signing day
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 04:16 PM) They definitely dont care It's actually pretty smart of them because I feel most people don't think it will be 3 more years until there is an international draft in place, so the Yankees probably won't even serve their 2 year penalty anyway. -
Trey is 1-2 with a 2B so far. Since June 1st, he has 7 HR and is hitting .340. He has gotten better every single month this season. If he can cut down on those K's significantly in July, I'd be for a promotion to W-S.

In his next PA, May took a walk. Somehow did not swipe a bag though. Nice start so far for Danish in his return from the DL. 3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
-
Davidson, 1-1, 2B. McCutcheon - 3 IP, 5 K.

The craziest thing I read in that article was in the comments section..... "In "ABQ" the traumatized air traffic controller was responsible for the in air collision. The only verified real life in air collision where a air traffic controller was responsible happened in December 1986 with an Areomexico flight over Cerritos California. The name of that air traffic controller? .......Walter White!"

Since we offered Nunez $900k, and Ynoa got $800k, is it safe to assume the Sox liked Nunez more???? -
Should He or Shouldn't He ?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Absolutely, 100% do it. I'll be pissed if he declines like it appears he may. -
So not only did I miss the Abreu homerun today, and not only did the ball land in my seat I had just bought 4 seconds before he hit the pitch there, BUT I PREDICTED ALL OF IT. The line was so painfully long to exchange the rain out tickets that I told my buddy and the other people waiting in line that Abreu would hit a HR and it would land in our seats in the bullpen bar, and we'd miss it all because of the damn line. And I f***ing nailed it. I was pissed off for like 3 innings. The guy in the seats next to us who picked up the ball wouldn't entertain and offer to sell the premonition ball to me. Bastard.

Houston Astros' Internal Trade Talks
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Goober's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Marlins GM is now denying that he EVER tried to trade Stanton, says it's a joke. Well no s***, that's not something you want your superstar to know. -
According to Stoltz, Terrance Marin has added a cutter since he has come back to the Sox, and maybe that's the reason for his success so far. It's an extremely small sample size, but so far this is what he's done in his return.... 12 IP, 10 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 14 K, 0.75 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 3.5 K/BB.

I thought Toronto's willingness to trade Stroman was peculiar. -
Sox licence plates outsell all Chi teams except Bhawks

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 12:53 PM) I'd take the license plate trophy over the Cubs' attendance trophy any day. I wouldn't. Not in a million years. -

The deal I was pining for last October was Quintana for Castro and Altuve. And now Altuve is having a sensational season and has been the best offensive 2B in baseball. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 01:34 AM) Go 7-2 against the Tigers, Giants and Blue Jays. Get wiped out by the Royals, Twins and Orioles (granted, we easily could have swept that series). Hard to figure this team out, except for the fact that it's fortunes reside with the back end of the rotation, which is why it's going to be so hard for this team to ever go on an extended winning streak. I can not stand mediocrity. I know we all went over this topic last season around this time as well, but I would rather this team tank the rest of the way, or dominate the rest of the way. I don't want to see a midround draft pick next June. -

2014 Minor League catch all thread

QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Jun 29, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) Wow, that's shocking. To give up on a kid that young, there's probably something else going on to have prompted this move. I can't see us giving up on a young catcher regardless of how little he's played and how poorly he's performed. There has to be. I wonder from whom we can get an answer. -
I would be more excited about Jacob May if he didn't have 0 HR this season in a hitter-friendly ballpark.

QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Jun 29, 2014 -> 09:45 AM) Yes, he was released What? At 19th years old? What the hell happened? I mean, I know he was awful in his 2 rookie seasons in Bristol, but he was supposed to be such a tough sign out of H.S., that I figured they would have just kept him in rookie ball each year until he got older and improved. Seems like a short leash for a guy they tried hard to keep away from college. -

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 29, 2014 -> 09:13 AM) You're right. Schwarber hitting over .500 with 8 homers in two leagues. He has more HR than strikeouts. He almost has an many RBIs as outs recorded. These are astronomical numbers right now, although Jason Parks said they mean absolutely nothing until he gets to like High-A or AA where an advanced college bat should be somewhat challenged. Still though, those numbers are pretty gaudy. -

Speaking of 1st RD picks. All by 7 have signed for far. All but 2 in the top 10 (Rodon and Hoffman). Of the guys who've signed, Schwarber is tearing up his league right now. Nick Gordon is off to a decent start. Alex Jackson has been bad in his week of play, and Aaron Nola has gotten lit up in his 1 start, not even making it out of the 3rd inning. Everyone's favorite catcher Jakson Reetz is 0 for 6 with 4 Ks in his brief start in Rookie ball. -

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 04:28 PM) I wonder what the Astro message boards/media are saying about Aiken not yet signing? Uh, he signed like on Day 2. For $6.5M, which saved Houston something like $1.5M. They should have lost their minds with glee. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/2014-draft...ent_id=79082538 -
Chevy Clarke and Ryan Leonards are having nice starts at GF.

I noticed Ben Brewster already got promoted. Not too surprising, given that he is a college arm. I would think he's got a chance at W-S before too long as well. So far he's made 3 pro appearances, totaling 5 1/3 IP. He's allowed 3 H, 2 BB, and struck out 9. He's now in Kanny.
