  1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 21, 2014 -> 09:20 AM) Didn't Cadillac just announce a luxury electric? It's either Cadillac or Mercedes, I couldn't remember when I made my post last night, but one of those companies either has one, or is about to release one. I haven't heard anything else about it though.
  2. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 21, 2014 -> 01:06 AM) I'm just glad they're finally adding a massive social media wall to the park. How else can fans access Twitter at the ballpark!? It's really what the consumers have been demanding. I foresee surpassing 2M fans this year. To be fair, cell phone coverage is HORRENDOUS is a ballpark named after a cell phone company. It would probably be quicker to check twitter by walking to this new place and check it out versus looking on your phone. Which reminds me...instead of spending the money on this, can we just have money to put in to infrastructure for cell coverage?
  3. WOW, 12 whole TVs!!! This place just SCREAMS digitally advanced!
  4. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 19, 2014 -> 01:40 PM) SiriusXM. Tesla is something I agree with your father on, despite their stock price, they simply don't have the numbers to support it. That's 100% speculators, and wherever the speculators are, I don't want to be. Hindsight is also 20/20, but despite that, Tesla is only where it's at because of hype. It's probably just my fanboyism, because I absolutely adore Tesla (the car manufacturer, and the one of the greatest inventors of all time, Nikola Tesla), but I really think/hope that Tesla is going to be huge. It's already pretty much in a market of its own as a 100% electric luxury car (Mercedes may have a model?), but I just believe in Elon Musk and his vision. The day they get Teslas down to the $30K range (late 2015 according to Musk), and I have a real person job, I will be buying one for sure.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2014 -> 09:53 PM) Rongey was talking about Gillaspie's brother a little bit on the radio. He's a large human being. Switch hitting first baseman. Off to a good start. http://www.goshockers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=205302891 I'm not sure if he's good enough for the second round, but maybe he's someone to keep an eye on. I really like when teams take family members of current organizational players, as long as they are round-appropriate. If we can get him in the 3rd RD and he's projected in that area, then I'd love to get him. I think it truly gets the best out of both players, at least morale speaking. I'm not sure Jordan Danks would have come as far as he has in another organization, or if his older brother didn't play baseball.
  6. Oh also, Chance came out with a red Blackhawks jersey on that said "TheRapper" on the back, it was pretty awesome.
  7. Just got back from the Childish Gambino concert at the Riviera tonight. It was pretty great, but definitely a different style than Because The Internet was. He rapped every song very intensely with a heavy rock show feel. He had a full band and everything hit super hard. If you watched videos from the concert on mute, you would have thought it was a rock show. He played almost the entire CD and then did about 10 songs from his other stuff. A few off Camp, a couple off Royalty, a couple off Culdesac, and then him and Chance the Rapper did a 6 minute freestyle.
  8. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 18, 2014 -> 07:54 PM) I speculate with a very small percentage of my money, just not with penny stocks. For example, I've bought TiVo, etrade, Siri, and a few others, but they still had fundamental numbers to back my decision to speculate on their futures. Despite being speculations, I still bought them as long term investments. I don't deal with penny stocks because I don't trade actively, it costs too much in commissions and short term tax, not to mention it's a lot of work. I have had a few losers I've speculated on over the years, and wrote them off in losses, but that's only happened twice. For the most part I stick with fundamentals and dividend investing and it's made me quite a bit of money over the years. A few recent speculation trades I've made was grabbing 500 shares of amd and zynga. Siri has it's own stock??? Or are you referring to Sirius XM? I tried getting my dad in to buying Tesla back in November when their stock was at a low of like $125. He declined and now they are double that. That's a company I wish I had money to buy stocks with 7-8 years ago when I was raving over their prototypes. I'd be a very rich man right now if I was born 20 years earlier.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 18, 2014 -> 06:26 PM) Jordan Danks making real hard for the Sox management starting him AAA. He's had a great spring. We already have to find out a way to ditch De Aza, plus, IIRC, having a great spring is what he does. Him and Brian Anderson were ST MVPs.
  10. I tell ya Stone Poney, this Cody Winiarski kid has got a pretty impressive arm. He is mowing down some batters right now.
  11. We already have extra OFers we are trying to trade, so I don't see the reason to acquire even more.
  12. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Mar 18, 2014 -> 03:33 PM) Why NO ABREU??? Because we have 3 1B/DH players on this roster and Abreu currently is having some ankle issues. I wouldn't expect him to play more than 130 games this season unless Dunn is traded.
  13. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 18, 2014 -> 08:07 AM) That's why I tend to shy away from this sort of trading. I know quite a few people that have had some short term success in these OTC markets, even for a span of a few years, but it's never pretty in the end. All it takes is to get burned one time with these types of trades to wipe out everything you've gained to that point, as traders will tend to fool themselves into think they can't lose. I've been investing (not trading) for well over a decade, going through both crashes in the 2000-2010 span, and I've come out ahead both times. When I'm going to invest a few thousand dollars into a company, I need to see numbers that support that investment. I want to see profits, or signs of real turnaround, I don't like heavy debt loads unless they have the cash to back them, etc. I also tend to stick with dividend paying stocks, so I'm being paid WHILE I'm holding it for long term growth. The other thing people tend to gloss over when they "win" is the fact that if/when you sell it, you're going to lose a huge percentage of that profit to taxes, as short-term cap gains are taxed at ordinary income. Well that's why you should be smart enough to diversify in long term stocks as well as the penny stocks. The only reason I am doing penny stocks is because I only have a couple hundred dollars to play with just to get my feet wet. I have stock in Exxon, McDonalds, Walgreens, Yahoo, Fifth Third Bank, and others that I've owned for 15 years now, I just do not have control over them because my dad deals with that. He's been doing this for over 20 years now, and I think this is the first time he has gotten in to penny stocks. In fact, he had an investment club meeting last night with this investment club he started, and he said they don't even pay attention to penny stocks, it's all the more technical and big money stocks they trade as a club. Maybe one day I'll have enough money to join his club, but I'll make my mistakes now with small dollars.
  14. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 17, 2014 -> 01:57 PM) PHOT has done this 5 other times in it's past -- going from a few pennies to ~60 to 80cents before crashing again. This is common for OTC stocks, they usually have very quick runups followed by very harsh corrections, so the idea is to get out BEFORE that happens. You won on this one, just don't hold all of it too long now, it just doesn't have the numbers to be where it is, and for an OTC stock, it's trading at massive volumes because speculators are piling into that industry. These cannabis based stocks are all seeing these types of jumps right now, which is why I'd beware. When everyone wants in, you want out...when everyone wants out, you want in. http://www.thestreet.com/story/12525417/1/...mp;cm_ven=YAHOO I didn't win s***. My dad is the one who invested in PHOT, and he's made $6000 in the past 6 weeks or so on it.
  15. PHOT is just soaring right now, while OSLH is just falling like a rock. I keep looking for a spot to jump in on PHOT, but it won't stop growing.
  16. Didn't find anywhere else to post my draft results from tonight. I had the #9 overall pick. My keepers were Stanton and Molina. 9 Giancarlo Stanton, Mia OF K 19 Yadier Molina, StL C K 29 Cliff Lee, Phi SP 32 Dustin Pedroia, Bos 2B 49 Justin Verlander, Det SP 52 Ryan Zimmerman, Wsh 3B 69 Jose Abreu, CWS 1B 72 Jean Segura, Mil SS 89 Matt Holliday, StL OF 92 Gerrit Cole, Pit SP 109 Curtis Granderson, NYM OF 112 Trevor Rosenthal, StL RP 129 Andrew Cashner, SD SP 132 Clay Buchholz, Bos SP 149 Alfonso Soriano, NYY OF 152 Bartolo Colon, NYM SP 169 Matt Adams, StL 1B 172 Grant Balfour, TB RP 189 Xander Bogaerts, Bos 3B 192 Adam Eaton, CWS OF 209 Jim Henderson, Mil RP 212 Jose Quintana, CWS SP 229 Michael Pineda, NYY SP 232 Yordano Ventura, KC SP I am very happy with where I got Gerrit Cole, Verlander, Curtis Granderson, Clay Buchholz, and Andrew Cashner. Was so close to snagging Zach Wheeler and Iwakuma pretty late, but missed out. I had to reach 2-3 rounds early on Abreu because of White Sox friends in my league who were just snatching up Sox players early.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2014 -> 02:45 AM) Sounds like a high maintenance broad. Well my brother is a guy...soo...
  18. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Mar 15, 2014 -> 11:47 PM) Does Detroit have any up and coming catcher prospects? James McCann. Fangraphs listed him as the Tiger's #6 prospect, BA did not have him ranked in top 10. He seems to be a defense-first type catcher who can be a league-average hitting catcher in the majors according to FG.
  19. Semien infield single, Abreu almost decapitates the pitcher with a basehit, and then Avi smashes a bomb to CF. I don't remember what the wall is back there, but that ball had to be around 430-440 to center. #Future
  20. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Mar 15, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) I was gonna ask this but didnt want to come off as an asshole. This just seems like creating work for yourself for the sake of doing it. Whats the appeal of listening to the same exact music at the same time? Also, why does it have to be streamed to both of them? Couldnt they just create the exact same "gym" playlists and start them at the same time before they start working out? I don't know, I guess they listen to "pump up music" or something and want to be in the zone together, I don't know, it's not my scene. Yes, the playlist and music thing at the same time was suggested by me, but I guess she doesn't have much room on her phone. Probably enough for like 150 songs though, so they could swap out the music every week or whatever I guess. It seems like entirely too much work, which is why I was hoping someone knew of an easy solution I could relay to him, but I'm trying to help him if I can.
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 15, 2014 -> 09:17 PM) They'll sign Drew Yeah, and Stephen Drew will be an upgrade over Iglesias. I don't get all the hype around Iglesias. He is more Didi Gregorious, and less Andrelton Simmons. Dude has no bat.
  22. Ok, here is a problem my brother and his fiance are having at the gym. Him and I spent hours trying to find a good solution that wouldn't require buying anything else, and we've hit a wall. Any ideas would be welcomed.... They want to both be able to listen to the same music, at the same time while they work out. There are WiFi apps that do this, but the WiFi at the gym sucks and it can't hold a connection for even 1 song. They also do not get data service in the gym either, so having them both simply listening to the same radio station on TuneIn or something will not work. The only idea we've come up with is bluetooth. However, a phone can not output music to 2 different bluetooth devices at the same time. It can connect to 2 devices at once, but only one of them can receive music. We've also yet to find an app that will allow 1 bluetooth device to receive music while a headphone jack is plugged in. It seems to only allow audio out of 1 source at a time. There seems to only be 1 app we've found that allows people to listen to the same music on different phones over bluetooth, but the app absolutely sucks. One device will lag behind on the music, or it will lose connection, or it even was chopping back and forth between 3 different songs. It was garbage. How NO ONE ELSE has made a similar app (that we know of) is behind comprehension. Usually you can find at least half a dozen apps that all do the same thing. Anyone got any ideas? So far the only idea I've come up with is to use a 3.5mm jack splitter, with regular headphones plugged in to one side, and a bluetooth headphone plugged in to the other one. But that would require one of them to go out and buy a pair of bluetooth headphones. That may be the end result of all this, but we just can't believe there hasn't been an easier way we've come across yet. PS: They both have Android phones.
  23. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 14, 2014 -> 07:08 PM) It would surprise me a lot if Nieto made the team. He'd have to be on the roster all year. That ain't gonna happen. He doesn't have to be on the roster all year, he just has to be on the roster until we give him back to his old team. The only way we can take a look at all 3 guys at once is to send Phegs to AAA and have Nieto and Flowers platoon. Not saying that will happen, but with no clear winner and Phegley being the only one of the 3 guys with a clear path back to AAA, I'd like to think that's the direction they should take.
  24. Man, Marcus Semien just slashed that double in the gap. He's got a strong looking stance and swing. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a 15-20 HR guy in the majors at 2B.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 14, 2014 -> 05:13 PM) Its possible. IMO Flowers is worthless to this franchise but hey, what do I know. I agree that Flowers is the worst, I just think they will use Phegley's option and Nieto's Rule-5 restrictions to keep Flowers on the major league team.
