So the harpooning thing is pretty cool. But man, the crocodiles in this game are pretty lame. In Far Cry 3, it was hard to see them in the water and they would scare the s*** out of you when they would attack. In AC4, I can see them a half mile away and I was swimming behind one for a few seconds trying to kill it in water before I realized I couldn't. They are no scarier than killing a wild pig. Definitely liked the wildlife better in Far Cry. This game actually makes me want Far Cry 4 even more. I've heard April 4th, 2014 as a possible reveal for the 4th installment, probably to come out around this time next year hopefully.

Eric Surkamp claimed by White Sox

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 24, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) Surkamp is probably just as good as Danks at this point. I couldn't disagree more. -

Danks + $12.75M for Grandal. Boom, GM-ing made easy. -
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 10:54 AM) A few years ago, Gordon Beckham was the second base choice for Harold Reynolds on a 'future hall of famers' segment for mlb network. Maybe it was 3b (even more hilarious) Oh how times have changed, mountains crumbled, slayers themselves..slayed. i dont want to lose your high ceiling promise, ton-iii-iight. It was actually their "All-Decade" team for the 2010-2019 decade, not future HOFers. The list was..... C - Mauer 1B - Fielder 2B - Beckham SS - Hanley 3B - Longoria LF - Braun CF - Justin Upton RF - Heyward LHP - Felix RHP - Lester They predicted Beckham to hit more HR than Upton over this time period. So far Upton has 91, Beckham has 40.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 24, 2013 -> 03:05 AM) Why even bother renting a game if you're only going to have a day with it? It's not like it's Madden or FIFA. Because my cousin's basketball game tonight was right next to a Family Video, and I'll pass the same store on my way to my aunt's house for Xmas. Otherwise it's a 15 minute drive to a town I never go to, so figured I'd get some of the game done now, and then rent it again next time I'm in that town. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to the animal killing. Looking at the things I can craft, I see I can kill like 3 different types of sharks, a killer whale, and a giant white whale or something. I saw a whale jump in the opening mission of the game, and I am having a hard time imagining how I am going to take down that beast, unless I can use a gigantic harpoon or something. Or throw a powder keg in it's mouth and shoot it or something.

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 11:34 PM) Anderson vs Turner Speed - we'll say it's a scratch. Turner is a much more prodigious base stealing threat though due to his skill at the moment. I can't find any times for Anderson, but Turner has been clocked at 3.5 to first and a legit 6.3 60 yard dash. Turner is easily an 80-grade speed, where there is some debate about whether that is true of Anderson. Defense - serious questions existed and still do about Anderson's ability to stick at SS. Needs lots of development before we'll know. Turner is close to a lock to be a SS and many predict he'll be a top tier glove there. Has all the physical tools and actions to project very well there. If he slows down, has the frame and hands to be a 3B. Bat - Turner is a rather polished bat who makes consistent contact and has produced in a huge way at the top amateur level. They both have similar power potential, which is rather modest. Would be surprised if either develop into more than 20 HR players at any level, with 10-15 being more likely for each. Turner is closer to his power ceiling. Anderson has many more problems making contact and it is unclear if Anderson will take many walks as he moves up. Turner's patience at the plate is much more well-regarded ATM. Turner's swing mechanics are very good and most scouts don't believe he has mechanical problems that can be exploited at higher levels. Anderson is far more raw as he had just become a full time baseball player. Before Turner's high ankle sprain which "hampered" his spring production, Kiley McDaniel said he would honestly pick him first overall in the draft. He has more recently demoted him to the 3-spot in the class. His hampered sophomore year production included a 1.000 OPS, still-great defense, and a reduction in steals down to 30. I would expect Turner to break out big time in this coming season and he will be a relatively low-risk proposition. While Tim Anderson doesn't have the same ceiling as Turner, it isn't impossible that Anderson becomes a better player or otherwise very good player. Anderson just has a lot more development ahead of him as well as question marks. I didn't mean they were the same talent wise, I just meant that they both provided the same skill set. I guess Turner has the defense that Anderson lacks. I'd still rather take Hoffman, although there are about 4-6 guys that I wouldn't be upset about taking, assuming Rodon goes before we pick.

Just rented AC4. Pretty much just have tonight and tomorrow to play. Due back on Xmas, but I doubt I am going to play too much Xmas day. So far so good. Not a huge fan of the naval battles like some people are, but I like the storyline of someone stealing the assassin's identity, instead of it just being a family occupation. Was really hoping the graphics and the world would be as lively as Far Cry 3, but so far it doesn't seem that way. Only 15 minutes in, but was really hoping for that beautiful Far Cry 3 world.

Kyle Orton to start. Lovely. Heard David Carr will be looked at this week. Also heard Tony isn't ruling himself out. That guy is crazy tough. -
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 24, 2013 -> 12:09 AM) Pharoah is really great at impressions. Even though he didn't sound like Kanye at all, he had all the mannerisms downpat and it was very believable. There is a clip on Youtube of him doing some morning radio rap show and he does a bunch of impressions and some of them are indistinguishably good. I found it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOi0Cc52LFk His Jay-Z, Chris Rock, Katt Williams are just perfect.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 06:33 PM) New season starts January 2nd So that's what Crackle is? An online TV channel? I've watched quite a few CICGF, but always on the website or Youtube, not on Crackle.

I am going to attempt Out of the Furnace for the 3rd night tonight, but I've got to say, it's pretty boring and it's hard to understand the accents. I'm probably 2/3s of the way through and I don't know a single characters name and just enough about the story to understand the motives.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 09:22 AM) I about died with Fallon broke character during the Family Feud bit. Oh yeah, I find it hilarious when those guys can't keep straight faces. Like when Bill Hader was doing his Weekend Update skit as "Devon" or something, and him and Seth Meyers couldn't hold it together.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 01:13 AM) I don't if know everyone saw Rock's post that the Sox did a payroll scope and he thinks there may be a trade of FA signing on the horizon but... Can anyone think of a decently paid catcher that has team time that may be inclined to move him? I saw that comment, but that doesn't necessarily mean the results they got were good enough to decide they have room for another contract. I means they probably have an idea about a specific player or group of players, but I'm not sure it means much if the results determined they don't have the space without moving some guys, like Danks or Keppinger or Dunn.

Just watched the JT/Fallon SNL. Instant classic. Great stuff everytime those guys are together.

Sox agree to 1 yr deal with Scott Downs

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 11:35 PM) I just don't think the joke had anything to do with the definition of Downs Syndrome. If it was meant as a criticism and thus was a joke that was made at someone's expense, I wouldn't like it. I'm not going to beat my chest about my Downs Syndrome cred but it has certainly touched my life and that comment did not strike me, even for a moment, as out of line Yeah, because that's what we are all doing....showing off about it... Can we just lock or delete this thread now? Or at least the page few pages? This thread is just horrible right now. -
I can't imagine a more appropriate poster making this thread.

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) Seriously, who are all of these catching Murphy's I've never heard of? Tom Murphy. 22, hit .288 with 22 HR, 31 2B, 83 RBI, .376 OBP, .948 OPS, in 100 games between A and AA ball. The key, though, is he is stuck behind Wilin Rosario, who is only 24 years old himself and has 5 years of team control left in Colorado. Is said to have an above average arm, is athletic, and is a good blocker behind the plate. No doubts so far about sticking at catcher.

For those like me who watch most of their movies online, we are now at the point of the year where new movies to theaters will be put online because of the award consideration DVDs being floated around. I am talking high quality DVD-rips, not those awful camera recordings in an actual theater. For instance, Out of the Furnace and Gravity are online now. Hoping a bunch others will be soon too.

Tom Murphy though. That'd be a nice pickup.

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 10:37 PM) You just said in this very post you never suggested Veal but then said you did. What gives? Having to pick 1 guy from the bullpen that I'd be willing to let go for someone is not suggesting that trade, it's picking an option that is given. Gillaspie for Murphy, or Gillaspie + Molina are the only offers I've suggested without any parameters given. And I stick by those offers. I wouldn't even give them De Aza for Murphy, and I despise De Aza.
