  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 21, 2013 -> 03:30 AM) Trea Turner needs to have a great season, but not so great that he goes 2. I'm still hoping for Hoffman. Wasn't Tim Anderson pretty much the equivalent to Turner last year? Not that Anderson is bad, but last time we took a pitcher in the 1st RD, it worked out okay. I love the idea of Sale-Quintana-Hoffman-Johnson in 2016.
  2. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 08:08 PM) This is part of the process in determining who is number 1, 2 and 3 on the Big Board. Besides Rondon, there really is no other consensus top three players. Various rankings have various orders. Exactly.
  3. My god you people have a lot of contempt for newer Hawks fans. I really don't give a s*** about them, as long as they dont pretend they knew anything about them prior to 2009. Buy all the jerseys you want, get them from China, yell and scream, it doesn't bother me any. I'd rather have a packed house of 25% real fans and the media all over this team than back to what it was pre-Kane/Toews days when the place was empty and people didn't even know we had a team.
  4. Have Webb as the closer of the future, but let Nate Jones close in 2013 to increase his trade value, then see if you can flip him for another Matt Davidson, but the catching version, next season. Like to the Rockies for Tom Murphy or something.
  5. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) And speaking of numbers, #5 is always switching hands, it really gets around. 9 different guys in the last 12 seasons. Just saw that #39 has had 11 different players in 12 years, what an odd number........ #39? I can't think of a single player that has worn that number.
  6. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 21, 2013 -> 12:17 AM) Had to decide between American Hustle and Anchorman 2 last night and choose American Hustle. It was a bit confusing at parts but I think it came together at the end. It was a pretty good movie but think it was too all over the place to me. I heard it was slow and boring and done before. That's just from 1 person though. A 50 year old man.
  7. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 07:03 PM) Matt Davidson Erik Johnson Tim Anderson Carlos Sanchez The Sox have some really boringly named prospects. There have been 2 Matt Davidsons. 12 Eric/k Johnsons (9 with a "c", 3 with a "k") 3 Tim Andersons 12 Carlos Sanchezs 8 Jose Abreus 1 Keon Barnum
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 04:52 PM) The White Sox have already started talking to 6 potential kids for their #3 pick. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...rticle_66102476 I don't get it. They should only be talking to 3 players. Whom they think will be #1, #2 and #3. It's impossible that one of those guys won't be available, and you know, best available and whatnot. To even consider 3 other guys is a huge mistake. Best available, yada yada yada.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 05:06 PM) Matt Davidson has got to be the most generic baseball name ever. That would be one of the first generated for a fake minor leaguer in a video game. Yet there has only been 1 other Matt Davidson to ever play pro baseball, and he never made it out of the Cubs Rookie ball program.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 12:37 PM) Balfour failed his physical. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=10171031 That's awesome. f*** him.
  11. Hah, they ran my tweet on the show after the interview. I'm pretty much famous now, guys.
  12. Addison killed it during Davidson's interview. Pumping iron in the background while hitting them with the state. Perfect!
  13. WHERE IS OUR POSTING FEE!?!??!!? JAPAN IS STEALING ALL OF OUR GOOD AAAA PLAYERS!!
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) 2p is the first airing. They replay it a bunch later on, I'm sure. Most excellent. When they were talking about the trade last week Rose and Millar were swooning over his hair, saying things like he has the best cut of lettuce in the bigs, and he has great "show hair" which warranted an interview. I can almost guarantee Rose will ask the baseball questions, Millar will ask if he has highlights in his lettuce.
  15. Excellent. Now we have another arm to deal away in July for a couple prospects. Downs and Lindstrom seem to be the obvious guys to ship off.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 02:34 PM) Davidson is on Intentional Talk today. They like his hair. (by cracky) Like, will be later today, or is on right now?
  17. I would swap him out for Heath or Molina in a heartbeat. Do it, slick Rick.
  18. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 07:39 AM) Yea? Well, ya know, that's just like your opinion man. No! It's a fact! You wanna fight bro??!?!?!??!
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) The MLB plan looked great to every one of their owners but somehow I think they forgot that the Japanese teams have some leverage here. I still come back to my version of this...every team that bids is out the money they bid as a posting fee and the whole pot goes to the Japanese team. That way you don't have 29 teams bidding for the same guy. That sounds like an awful idea, and only one that the Japanese teams would get behind. It would completely eliminate all small and mid market teams, and any big market team who is tight on cash. And then you could be talking a Japanese team making $200M off a player, completely giving that team a huge advantage over their fellow teams. I hate that idea.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 08:29 AM) They were counting on getting $40-60 million, and, as things currently stand, it would be just $20 million. Looks like we're going to have a game of chicken over the next couple of years with the pitcher, his agent and the Eagles. .....right....which is why I am wondering if they try to cut a deal with him to get some of the money from his contract as well, so let's say if he signs a $100M deal, they get another $20M on top of that $20M for the posting fee.
  21. I wonder if the Eagles will try and make some sort of deal with Tanaka to say "Ok, we will let you go to the US, but you owe us 20% of every contract you sign in the US." That way they keep making money off the guy, while Tanaka makes more money and gets the chance to play in the US like he wants to. The problem with that is they may piss off other Japanese players from wanting to play for them knowing that they may ask for part of your money to post you, but if other teams follow suit, then maybe they roll the dice on that that happening and take their 20%.
  22. I heard on MLB Network that the Eagles are willing to offer him $12M a year to stay in Japan. I don't follow salaries in Japan, but I'd have to think that makes him the highest paid player over there by a wide margin.
  23. Masters of Sex finished well, but almost too neat and perfectly. I'll obviously keep watching, but nothing too crazy or unexpected happened at the end of the season.
  24. You guys want to hear a stupid stat? In 2004, Barry Bonds had a 37.6% walk rate. That was more than the #2 and #3 most walked players COMBINED.
