  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 25, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) I'm not sure there's a reasonable Cubs package I'd take for Sale. I'm not high on Baez like so many other are, though. I would take a package of Soler, Almora, Baez, and Bryant.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 25, 2013 -> 02:51 AM) Probably true, but apparently those sites are a scam, so even if you are, you cant do anything anyway. I was dying laughing when he told me. Like how so, like it's all fake profiles? I had never heard of that site until you mentioned it, and I am too afraid to make a profile to snoop around looking for people I know. I'd be horrified to find a family member on there and be stuck with the dilemma of telling someone or not.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 25, 2013 -> 02:15 AM) So my buddy who is married told me tonight he's been trying to get some extra action on ashleymadison and a few of those sites and says they are all bulls***. I told him its probably for the best. Your buddy is a scumbag.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 25, 2013 -> 01:36 AM) I have a nugget on this, trying to figure out how to send out mass PM's. However. I believe this was plan B to Abreu. I've heard next to nothing regarding adding payroll. Just.....uh.....just PM it to me and then I'll mass PM everyone.....yeah.
  5. Jose Quintana and Carlos Sanchez to the Yankees for CF Brett Gardner, 3B Eric Jagielo, and RHP Rafael De Paula. Boom.
  6. QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 24, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) What are the dates for teams making the qualifying offer? Looks like 5 days after the WS ends. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/schedule/important_dates.jsp
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 23, 2013 -> 09:35 PM) Jon Lester is inexcusably slow. Yet he is only the 3rd slowest SP on the team.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 24, 2013 -> 02:19 AM) I think we should start a thread Santiago trade value. I'd rather trade him than Q. Could Santiago get the Sox Lawrie? Straight up? Santiago and Gillaspie for Laurie. Ehhhh, probably doubtful.
  9. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Oct 24, 2013 -> 12:51 AM) Is Lawrie really a big enough upgrade over Gillaspie to warrant trading a cost controlled 2-3 LH starter? His numbers don't look great. Is this just because he was a highly rated prospect? I'm seriously not following. The idea would be buying low on a former "cant-miss" prospect and also getting one of the best pitching prospects in baseball.
  10. I'm okay with trading Quintana if he is actually valued like a #3 type arm, but I reeeeeeeeally hate Brett Lawrie. He is so hard to root for.
  11. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Oct 23, 2013 -> 08:59 PM) Kozma drops a grounder in the hole. Thats 2 screw ups by him in less than 2 innings. Hope Cards lose the Series they might want to get Alexei I was just thinking in my head when Kozma made that 2nd error, "Man, they should have traded for Alexei". Alexei's 2nd half - .282 AVG, .727 OPS, 5 HR, 104 OPS+ Kozma's 2nd half - .179 AVG, .496 OPS, 0 HR, 70 OPS+ Bottom line, Kozma blows and Alexei would have been a massive upgrade.
  12. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Oct 23, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) S&P is up 20% year-to-date so you're closing in. My dad bought stock in a company that sells marijuana paraphernalia, and it's tripled since the summer. It jumps up every time another state or city legalizes pot.
  13. Season 3 of Sherlock will be returning on January 19th! http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/10/23/she...m_medium=social If you haven't seen the first 2 seasons, I HIGHLY suggest watching them on Netflix. Only 3 episodes per season, 90 minutes each. So you can easily catch up in a week.
  14. I know Lawrie would be a good fit for this team, but man, it would really take a lot of convincing for me to not hate that guy. He is such a cocky douchebag.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 23, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) No. Santiago will be more valuable than Headley this year and probably every successive year, is under team control, and is cheap. Headley is an old free agent to be that has been worth top talent for a period of about 6 months of his life. I'm happy to have Headley on the team, but I'm not sure if I'd even give up Rienzo-caliber players for him. I'm guessing there is some team that will give up more than that, especially if they hold on to Headley until the deadline. I know that comparing pitcher WAR to hitter WAR isn't exact, but in what everyone considers a very bad year for Headley, he STILL put up a 3.6 WAR. Assuming his real value is somewhere in between his 2012 and 2013 years, I would expect a 4-5 WAR season in 2014. Hector, on the other hand, put up a 1.5 WAR last season. That's a big difference, despite it being pitcher vs. hitter. I wouldn't expect Hector to out perform Headley at ALL next year. The obvious value in Hector lies in his cost and team controllable years. Also, you characterize Headley as "old". He will be 29 at the start of the season. That is younger than other playerss being discussed for this team, like Brandon Phillips, Brian McCann, Robinson Cano, Curtis Granderson, Jacoby Ellsbury. Hell, I think Jarrod Saltalamacchia is the only player who is YOUNGER than Headley, and that's by 1 year. To say Headley is an "old free agent" is not fair.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 23, 2013 -> 02:36 PM) Would you guys do Santiago + Keppinger for Headley? Oh yeah. I really like Hector, but trading away Keppinger actually makes this deal better for us.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 23, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) His FIP and xFIP the last two years have been pretty good. That's usually what I mean when I say peripherals. I wouldn't say they were pretty good. I would say they were definitely better than his ERA, but still no where close to what they should be at if he is making $17.5M a year. His FIP and xFIP need to be a sub-3.
  18. Another real good episode of Masters of Sex. Still can't figure out exactly how Libby got....to what she is right now. I thought it was a ruse to get Bill to come clean, but now it appears it is real, and at 5 months in, what's the story here? Also, I am finding this season of Boardwalk pretty boring. I can't believe Sunday was the 7th episode. It feels like it's only 3 or 4 episodes, I don't recall anything major happening so far, and no major battle developing.
  19. I'll just go ahead and throw Rudy Jaramillo's name out there. EDIT: Oh s***, I didn't even read your post before I commented. I guess this would be me seconding Rudy Jaramillo then.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 22, 2013 -> 09:45 PM) Lincecum's peripherals have been good the past two years, but $17.5 million a year is a really steep price to pay for this version of Lincecum. His K/9 has been really good. His BB/9 has been between bad and awful. His K/BB has been very average, his WHIP has been average to bad, his HR/9 has been okay, and his H/9 have been okay. His strikeout totals have honestly been the only number close to being worthy of $17.5M a year, but everything else screams an $8-$10M a year pitcher. I think 2 yrs/$24M would have been my limit on him.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 22, 2013 -> 06:24 PM) Black List is fantastic. It's worth watching for Spader alone. I wish it had a more overall story rather than a problem of the week setup, but thats a problem with a lot network tv shows. Other than that, it's a great show. Yeah, I hoping it takes a Justified approach where the 1st season is purely episodic to appeal to infrequent viewers, and then once they build a steady returning viewership over the course of a season, the rest of the future seasons can be sagatic.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 22, 2013 -> 06:16 PM) Doing God's work. Catch-alls are the worst, particularly during the offseason On Headley, I don't think the ten mil or so should be a major deal for us to help us plug a huge hole. We do have money to blow, pay for every cent. But yeah since it's only for a year, I dont want us giving up anything of note. And that probably means a deal isn't happening. Catch-alls suck when it comes to rumors, but I would love an offseason tradewinds subforum.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Oct 22, 2013 -> 06:02 PM) He wasn't too bad at LF if I remember correctly. They just needed Gordon to go there. And he's played 3rd in college/high school. We may as well put Paulie back at catcher while we are at it.
  24. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 22, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) Yup, give me Ellsbury and McCann for the same price as Cano. Plug two holes and likely get better production for the same price. You whore.
