6/22 White Sox at KC Royals
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in 2013 Season in Review
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 04:12 PM) For those that care, baseball prospectus projects the Sox as finishing with the 3rd worst record in baseball (Marlins and Astros) Let's hope they are wrong and the Sox can grab that #1 pick! -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 02:26 PM) I think he has more errors than that and it was Michael Johnson who made the error. Gah, you're right, it was. Micah has 17 Errors.

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 10:16 AM) Not sure what his fielding stats are but when i saw him play a couple times, he looked like a gold glover, went for every ball, big time hustler All I know of his defense is that he made his 15th error last night. That's pretty bad.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 11:06 PM) For the love of god call up Micah Johnson already!!!! Maybe they are waiting for him to improve his defense first???

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 06:03 PM) Worst movie of all time nominee: Wouldn't look as awful if they put some unknown actor in Travolta's spot. Granted, the story looks stupid too, but the worst part is seeing John Travolta play a Bosnian or Serbian or whatever he is playing. Looks too goofy.

I have no idea who Kelvis Valerio is, but he kicked ass for Bristol tonight. 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K.

I like the Playstation controllers better, but I'm sure that's just familiarity. Although I will never understand why the joysticks are offset on Xbox. Our hands are symmetrical, so why isn't the controller?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 07:32 PM) http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/20/samsung...android-slider/ Samsung is making a 13 inch tablet that runs Windows 8 Pro AND Android 4.2.2. Very interesting. Best of both worlds, sounds awesome.

2012-2013 Official NHL thread

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 01:43 PM) These are all so f***ing great. http://imgur.com/a/GVHkJ My favorite. Which is an odd combination of actors who people think is dreamy, and one that people find physically gross. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 09:18 PM) Saad giveth, Saad taketh away Holy s***, I tweeted the EXACT same thing. Weird. -
Daniel Webb continues to have a really fine year. ERA down to 1.02 on the combined season with 40 K to only 10 BB in 35 IP. Also, only 21 H, and 0 HR allowed.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 10:43 PM) Hopefully that is the start of something. Yeah, the start of him earning enough value to be considered a "throw in" piece of hopefully a flurry of trades in the next 6 weeks.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 08:36 PM) Apparently Sony released an update that bricked a whole bunch of ps3s. Glad I didn't update. Woah, for real? I tried getting that update yesterday, but the update failed, so I decided not to do it. Thank god, if it is bricking systems.

Would have liked to see a better start from Sale, but at least the Sox lost and the Hawks won.
-
Umm.....so Manny Machado has 32 doubles....is on pace to set the all-time record with 74. It's more rare to have a 60 2B season, than a 60 HR season, and he should get there barring an injury.

Well maybe XboxOne won't be such a complete failure now. This announcement will certainly help their sales.

Who are our trading partners?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to The Ultimate Champion's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 02:16 AM) That's probably what he meant, but the Sox have had trading partners: Arizona and Toronto. Only one of numerous trades wiith those great partners helped the Sox at all (the first Quentin trade). Who would want Alexei? I'd consider that more "GM partners". -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 02:09 AM) The Sox don't need "trading partners". That philosophy resulted in the giveaways of Quentin, Jackson, Santos et al. to our friendly trading partners. Deal with the team that offers the the best deal, regardless of whether they are Williams' friends or in our division. I am sure the OP meant trading partners as in "teams that need players at the positions we have available to trade". The Rockies aren't going to be interested in Alexei Ramirez, which means they aren't a good trading partner. -
I got 5/10. #5 felt like I've seen this called wrong, or maybe the runners tagged up anyway and were always safe, so it never mattered. #6 I had no idea about. #10 I thought the ball was dead on catcher's interference, and I had no idea a manager could choose the play or the penalty. Weird.

Showtime has put the Ray Donovan pilot up on Youtube for free. I think I'll watch it again. It didn't blow me away, and it was pretty slow at times, but I find his job really interesting, and that girl w/ epilepsy is a BAAAAAABE.

Micah Johnson 1-2 with 2 SB in the All-Star Game.

This is what I posted in another thread a week or so ago, but it fits this thread as well.... QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 08:33 PM) Looking at these bullpen splits, a contending team w/ a terrible bullpen, not in our division appears to be the St. Louis Cardinals. A quick glance at their prospects and a wishlist I'd make for a swap for Crain would be in order.... 10) Carson Kelly, 3B, Grade B- 11) Patrick Wisdom, 3B, Grade B- 12) Stephen Piscotty, 3B, Grade B- 13) Greg Garcia, 2B-SS, Grade C+ Rankings/grades according to minorleagueball.com -
QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 09:50 AM) Doesn't the Cape Cod league use wooden bats instead of aluminum? seems to me I've heard that several prospects have weak showings there due to that. Or it could be that I'm old and senile and simply delusional in my "misremembrance" of things (not teal for a good reason). They have recently switched to using BBCOR bats in college as of 2011, which drastically reduce offense and make the numbers look more like wood-bat leagues. It's the reason Kris Bryant hit 31 HR this year and beat large amount of TEAM TOTALS in HR. Also, it explains why Gordon Beckham hitting 28 HR in college wasn't a big deal, and didn't equate to much power in the minors or majors. Yet Kris Bryant hitting 31 is making people freak out.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 03:56 PM) I tell all my friends with Android phones to use Nova. It's well worth the 5 bucks to get the pro version too. You can get a transparent app drawer, hide icons you don't want, edit any app's name and icon, get extra transitions, etc. Apex launcher is also pretty good. Apex or Nova, I use one of these two on every phone I've owned. It's the one w/ the white buttons on the bottom. EDIT: Nevermind, that was my dad's Nexus 7. I use LauncherPro on mine. Mine has less japanese text on it, and I use the MESSAGES icon in place of the VOICE feature.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jun 17, 2013 -> 11:34 PM) I loved it. Great storytelling, great visuals (the opening shot alone was superb) and the soundtrack was brilliant (which is no surprise since it was Mike Patton). I wish I had gone in to it know it was about what the consequences of one man would mean for generations to follow. Instead, I went in to it thinking it was a movie about Ryan Gosling robbing banks to earn money for his new son, and Bradley Cooper's side of the story chasing the bad guy.
