  1. Well, I'll skip the lecture about the "I'm sure it will be fine, I haven't gotten anyone knocked up yet!" attitude you had and skip straight to the idea of abortion. I think you should absolutely keep firm that you want her to have an abortion, and as much as it is her decision, it's also your life too, and you really don't have an option to just walk away, both legally and emotionally (assuming you're a normal rational person). The longer she waits, the less likely she is going to want to do it and the more guilty she might feel about it since it sounds like she currently has some guilt about it. It's obviously easier for you, and especially me, to say, but obviously don't bully her in to it either. It's not an easy decision, but it sounds like you and her parents and her at least at one point felt like it was the right decision, so I would keep going down that path, especially since you guys seem to barely even know each other.
  2. That's a really good one, but I'll take Lindor. 9 weeks puts him at like April 13th. 7 weeks puts him at March 31st. Eloy only has a chance if Lindor stays out 9+ weeks and even then, he may have a couple games on Eloy's debut.
  3. I took it as meaning that they've already agreed on money and years, and have now moved on to finer details like opt outs and incentives. But still, no reason to believe this guy.
  4. What does that mean? Like your return was less than usual?
  5. I could have sworn I heard someone they wanted another random twitter user claiming that they had vague and never-to-be-confirmed information, so here you go!
  6. If the Yankees have truly offered $220M and he hasn't taken it yet from his #1 destination, then it must be because the Sox (or someone else) currently has a significantly higher offer and he is waiting for either the Yankees to improve their offer, or another team to beat the team that currently has the higher offer. That being said, maybe the $250M that Passan and Gomez tweeted out was real, and that $30M gap is enough for him to not take the Yankees $220M offer and hope they can find some more money for him.
  7. Hector is starting to get annoying. He's honestly no different than Dan Clark right now, other than he hasn't been wrong yet. I guess im glad he is confident, but he's setting himself for a world of shit if Manny doesn't come to the Sox.
  8. Are all the seats in the entire section cushioned with a counter? I thought that was just the front part of the section? EDIT: Ok, I can see the counter now in the graphic. Hmmm.....interesting.
  9. Yeah, basically 20-30 rows farther back, and no table, and not a decision we can make after we already have tickets for the game. But it is weird to me that those tickets are cheaper than bleacher and OF reserved tickets. I will definitely try a game there, but I doubt we will get our 10 game plan there.
  10. I like this trade for them. I loved it when it looked like they could get Medina or Bohm or Garcia, but Realmuto only has 2 years left, and while he is a top 2 catcher, we are talking about a 4-win guy, not a 6-7 fWAR star. The different between the #1 catcher and #30 catcher in 2018 was 4 fWAR. The difference between RF was 9.3, CF was 8.7, 3B was 6.8, at SS it was 6.6, in LF it was 6.3, at DH it was 6.1, at 1B it was 4.5, at 2B it was 4.5. For SP, the difference between #1 and #30 was 6.1 fWAR. The only position that had less of a difference between the best player and the #30th best player was in the RP category, as you would expect, at 2.3 fWAR. The moral of this post is that according to the data we have on catchers, which in fairness doesn't including framing, which they haven't quantified yet for fWAR (AFAIK), the difference between the best and the worst is the smallest of any position. There really aren't any superstar catchers right now. Even the BEST catcher in the sport is only the 25th most valuable position player in baseball. I like what the Marlins got.
  11. That was my point. It might be an empty locker, it appears even likely and would make 100% sense to leave a spot open for Manny next to them, but I don't see how this was cryptic or winking in any way by Alonso. Now if he posted the ENTIRE empty locker, that would make me think he's trying to wink at Manny, but his failure to crop the photo perfectly means nothing to me.
  12. If we get Machado and Pederson, you don't think the Sox have a GREAT shot to compete in 2020, and maybe even an outside chance in 2019 if everything goes right? And if they aren't doing so hot to start 2020....you can just flip Joc at the deadline. To not trade for him straight up with prospect not even in our top 10 is bonkers to me. Pederson is a 3+ WAR player. They don't grow on trees.
  13. We can see like 6 inches of the locker next to it. You guys are losing your minds.
  14. I addressed "that logic" when I referred to their prospects status. Rutherford is ranked more highly than Laz, and that's almost exclusively due to age and draft pedigree. Because numbers wise, Laz has been better. EDIT: Also, Laz will be 24 through the entirety of 2019 season, not 25.
  15. Well that I find absolutely ridiculous. Where do you possibly rank Rutherford among our top 7 OF prospects???
  16. Laz vs Rutherford, yeah I don't really know who I would rather keep. The thing with Rutherford is that his prospect stock has been declining for a couple of years now. He was better in 2018 than 2017, but we are still looking at a kid who will turn 22 at the beginning of the season and still hasn't played above A+ yet. Not counting existing major leaguers, he's behind Eloy, Robert, Adolfo, Basabe, Luis Gonzalez, maybe even Steele Walker soon. You are talking about our 6th or 7th best OF prospect. While Laz Rivera is lesser of a prospect right now, he's trending up and he's only behind.....Madrigal on our prospect lists for SS/2B. Yes we have Anderson and Moncada, but Laz could be a guy who replaces Yolmer in a couple of years if neccessary. Rutherford has a TON of competition. I realize that being buried for us doesn't take away his value to other teams, but I think Rutherford would be a guy I would be ok losing. I don't know, it's not that much of a difference to me between him and Laz for our org.
  17. Trevor Bauer I believe was the original poster boy for them.
  18. I agree, but I guess that's not something that they can translate in to concrete data for us. They have the cameras and pitch tracking to see velocity and spin rates. How can they prove his command is better? Either way, I'm intrigued.
  19. I don't know if anyone (other than Jimmy) listen to the Sox in the Basement podcast (I recommend it), but they said they heard at SoxFest talking to some people that Blake Rutherford was the 3rd name discussed in potential Joc deal. Fulmer, Bummer, and Rutherford.
  20. Fulmer went to Driveline this winter and apparently saw huge spikes in velocity and spin rates. While I wouldn't tell the Dodgers "no" if they demanded Fulmer, I am very curious to see how that Driveline work translates for him.
  21. I talked to my guy and he said he doesn't think anything is happening today or tomorrow, at least in regards to them needing security for any announcement.
  22. Some guy says he was told by someone he knows who works in security that they need to get staffing ready for an announcement either Thursday or Friday. Didn't say if it was Manny or not, but I don't really get why they need to prepare security. And as others have said, it would be rare and surprising if the Sox have gotten a deal done, and physicals taken and everything ready to announce without anyone catching wind of this. Seems like it's either BS, or it's regarding something non-Manny related.
  23. Hopefully Yolbert Sanchez doesn't sign any time soon. I would think if he was taking the Orioles offer, he would be taking it pretty soon if he wanted to get in to the minors at the start of 2019.
  24. Yeah, he said in a recent interview that he could be back in 2019, but that there is no real point because he would only get like 4-5 starts in at the end of the year and then shut it back down again. So the plan is just to let him take things slow and give himself the extra 5 months of the offseason to be ready for 2020.
  25. It's not disappointing if they think they have a real shot at Yolbert and enough so that they are willing to hold off on $2M worth of commitments to get him. It's only disappointing if they don't get him and also don't use that $2M on a different big fish.
