ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2012 Season in Review
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 03:27 PM) Youkilis just arrived in the Sox clubhouse. Carrying Red Sox duffel bag. What a jerk! -
Twins. Sox. Gamethread. Part 3

Epic foreshadowing....... Also... Mark Gonzales @MDGonzales Jordan Danks gives No. 20 to Youkilis, will now wear No. 7 -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 08:37 AM) People still watch that God-awful show? I watch it because it's funny, not because of the ridiculous storyline.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 02:16 AM) Hopefully it won't be JorDan'ks' Why not? The qualifications were white, speedy, and defensively gifted OFers. Bad offensively is just a coincidence.

QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) I thought HR Derby participants need to be All-Stars. I think they do, and I think it's a terrible rule. You want to see the guys w/ the most power in the HR Derby, not the all-around good hitters who happen to hit HRs too. -

He's New Q for me. I don't get the whole Quatzocotszal thing, or much care for it, so I'll roll w/ New Q. -
I'll miss The Bridge. I always have a soft spot for the speedy, defensively gifted white outfielders for the Sox it seems. The Bridge filled the void for The Sultan of Twat, Brian Anderson. It's now JorDanks time to fill that need. Good luck, Brent.

When is Chris Beck finally going to get to pitch? -
What new dramas are starting? The Killing and The Borgias just ended, so I have nothing to watch Sunday nights now. What is taking their timeslots? EDIT: Oh s***, Weeds! Hell yes.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) Well, sure. What's the signing deadline, anyway? July 7th I believe.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 11:33 AM) http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/...g-leaders.shtml We have the 1, 2, and 10 in WAR for pitchers, and apparently 2 and 3 among all AL players (Brett Lawrie???) I prefer to use Fangraphs WAR, and I think most people would agree. -
My BSU boy Cal Bowling has struck out 5 of his 6 recorded outs so far.

Youkilis, $5.6 million traded to White Sox
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) You are not wrong. I just think he's got more value than Youk, both to the White Sox and, by reputation, to the rest of MLB. No faith in a Youk return to form. I wouldn't lament the loss of Thornton a whole lot, though. Youk and Thornton are pretty much on the same level now, no money considered. And plus, if we are truly competing with multiple teams, then if it takes Thornton, then fine. -

ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Am I the only person who wouldn't mind seeing Thornton go at all? I'm sick of him, really. I cringe every time he is in a ballgame, and he seems to fold under any sort of pressure. In fact, Fangraphs back this idea up. In LOW leverage situations, he has a 0.00 ERA with a .148 BAA, 0.76 WHIP In MED leverage sitatuions, he has a 2.89 ERA with a .308 BAA, 1.61 WHIP In HIGH leverage situations, he has a 12.70 ERA with a .400 BAA, 2.12 WHIP Thornton is GOD AWFUL in pressure situations. And those trends are the same for the past few years. -
No one notice Rienzo's awesome start tonight in B'Ham? 8 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K. Mirroring Chris Sale's effort tonight.

Youkilis, $5.6 million traded to White Sox

I don't like that Kenny is competing with other teams for Youk. Makes me fear something like "Simon Castro for Kevin Youkilis" type move. -
Humber DL, Fukudome DFA, Bruney recalled
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to WHarris1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) Fukudome was a huge bust this year, but I give KW credit for signing him and then releasing him when Danks passed him on the depth chart. I do wonder how serious Humber's injury is, or is this just a breather for him. Hard to be a "huge bust", when you are only being paid $500K. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 08:19 AM) I LOVE hockey rules when it comes to fan behavior. They really get it right. Yeah, like if you hit 3 home-runs, you throw your hats on the field, or when your team scores, you toss a squid on the pitcher's mound. -

So is Dylan Axelrod taking a rotation spot, or Brian Bruney, who started his last game in AAA? -
John Danks diagnosed with a grade 1 scapula tear
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Baron's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 10:01 AM) Yes. Doyle is somewhere around the 10th to 12th starter in the organization right now. Danks Peavy Sale Floyd Humber Quintana Stewart Axelrod Castro You might even say that someone like Hector Santiago could be stretched out ahead of Doyle, and throw in Pedro Hernandez as a maybe as well. I would think Doyle would have gotten a chance before Castro, Hernandez, and Santiago. That really just leaves Stewart, Axelrod, and Quintana in front of him. Either way, he is getting a massive pay raise, and it's hard to blame the guy. It's not like he has already accrued millions and millions in the majors. He is going from just getting by, to making a very nice living. Hard to turn that down. -
Well this is awesome.

I'm guessing it's Hawk killing hookers in between innings.
