  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 10:52 AM) This is the case with almost every new Apple product. You and I both know that there is a group of people who will buy anything with an Apple logo slapped on it. Yep. And Apple also underproduces their products at launch so that way people can talk about how fast they sold out of items. If people hear something is selling out fast, they are going to assume it must be awesome, and then want to get it.
  2. QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 11:53 PM) Anthony Rizzo is just putting up ridiculous numbers at Iowa (PCL) and destroying all pitching!!! As of tonight, 22 HR's, 57 RBI's, 1183 OPS, .370 BA, .753 SLG%, .430 OBP!! Absolutely mashing raking, whatever you call it. I wonder if this kid will be the real deal for them at 1st? Wow, that's incredible. When they call him up in a month or whatever, it will be interesting to see if he can get over the MLB hump this time. He sure as hell didn't last year.
  3. I'm thinking we get Konerko, Dunn, Sale, Peavy, and MAYBE AJ. And I don't just mean by vote, I mean voting + manager picks + Final vote.
  4. Wow. The percentage is 32%, 33%, 33%. That's insane.
  5. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 03:15 PM) Just saw on ESPN that he can opt out of the deal during his arbitration years if he decides that will get him more money. "Once Soler becomes eligible for salary arbitration, he will have the right to choose arbitration instead of the annual salaries specified by his contract, according to a major-league source. In other words, if Soler develops into a productive major leaguer, he can opt out of the financial terms of his deal and negotiate even better salaries with the Cubs." -- Rosenthal. Ok, this makes a lot more sense from Soler's standpoint now. So the Cubs are going to be paying AT LEAST $5-6M during his major league years. Sounds fair though, if he sucks, they don't lose that much money, if he is awesome, Soler doesn't lose much money.
  6. New update: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...#voteupdate0611 Paulie K has moved up to 2nd, AJ moved up to 4th, and Dunn moved on to the list, at 3rd place.
  7. Chris Beck ‏@WatchurBeck Officially a part of the Chicago White Sox!!!!! http://pic.twitter.com/CVXys8rT Picture of him on the mound at the Cell.
  8. Not a bad deal at all, the only thing is that he won't make the majors for at least 3-4 years, according to what we have been hearing for a while. So really, it's paying him $30M over 5 or 6 years of major league production. For $5-6M a year. Still not bad at all, but that does add a little more pressure for him to live up to it.
  9. All signs from The Killing tonight point to Jamie, which means it can't be him. The murder gets wrapped up next Sunday, and a new case opens, or at least that's what the writer said would happen before this season started.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:21 AM) That's perfect, after Mr. Maxwell's blast today at USCF over the foul pole for 461 feet. Need all the power we can get, as we'll have to replace Konerko, Dunn and AJ. Of course, everyone said the same type of thing about Joe Borchard's power when he signed...hopefully Barnum won't have such a big hole in his swing, nor will he be so mechanical, for lack of a better word. Was that the estimate, 461? And what, about 40 feet in the air? I want to see what HitTracker comes up with for the True distance. I am thinking around 500.
  11. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 10:54 PM) If you've followed my thoughts on Zach Stewart as long reliever you will know this is indeed sarcasm. If everyones so fed up with having Zach Stewart as the long man then why replace him with a perhaps equally as bad Humber? I will agree though that in the situation the Sox are in it does make sense to put Q in the rotation and have Humber replace Zach. Zachs still fairly young and could benefit from getting more time in the minors. I just fear (well not really) I'll be hearing the same kind of things about Humber that I have about Zach when he comes in in a a blowout and gives up a run or 2 "Phils 100% garbage DFA him NOW".... Humber is perhaps equally as bad as Zach Stewart? Oooohhh, come on now.
  12. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 10:37 PM) Ah - clarity. Anyone know what the new walk up music is? I didn't recognize it, but it was definitely some sort of hard rock type song. Whoever said Pantera might be close.
  13. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) Move a s***ty pitcher into long relief??? thats crazy talk, long relievers are supposed to be good pitchers. Sarcasm, I hope.
  14. I'm so done with Zach Stewart. But I think Quintana has earned the spot over Humber in the rotation, so push Humber to long relief.
  15. Well, Spencer Arroyo is improving. Terrible April, mediocre May, and a wonderful June so far.
  16. I was at yesterday's game. His WALK UP song is different, but if he gets on base his "reward music" is still Your Love by the Outfield. So if you love the song like I do, hope for some good Beckham at-bats!
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) Joe said he paid 11 dollars for a 1/2lb burger and a beer. OP - just call to find out. Well I didn't get a beer, but they also didn't card me or my buddy when we walked in either. I also saw little kids eating there as well.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 12:36 PM) They opened the gates early enough to see BP? QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 12:39 PM) It was probably Astros BP. ^This
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 01:12 AM) 70 steals already? Good god, that's like the days of Raines, Henderson and Vince Coleman, Donell and Otis Nixon, Willie Wilson, etc. And to only like 13 CS. Last year he had 103 SB to 20 SB I believe. That's about an 84% clip. Rickey Henderson stole an assload of bases, but at a clip under 81%. I don't know how well Billy's numbers will translate at the major league level, but the fact that he can actually hit, and draws walks will help. God, I would love to see this kid run.
  20. Billy Hamilton may be the fastest player on this planet. Or maybe just the greatest basestealer of our lifetimes.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 12:58 AM) I'm going to have to find a way to get Sale in the banner at this rate. Let's not ruin him just yet. You've clearly ruined Peavy and Paulie with your banner shenanigans.
  22. Oh ALLLLLLSO, we ate lunch at BiCardi in the Park before the game. Really nice place. Food and drinks are overpriced, but not that bad. Burger and fries was $11. It was a 1/2 LB burger, and it was very good.
  23. Oh also, me and my buddy got 2 BP balls today in the OF. Both were ricochets off the seats. I had one home run ball go right to me, I reached my mitt out, and some jagoff next to me closed my mitt shut and caught it off the top of my glove. I mean, it was impressive that he was able to catch it barehanded (well, with the aid of my glove), but to sabotage my grab was kind of s***ty, especially since he had just gotten one a few batters prior.
  24. I was at the game today too. Section 141, behind the Sox dugout. It was a pleasure watching Sale do work. It's weird how high our expectations were for him. People were outwardly counting off strikeouts, and we were disappointed in ground outs and fly outs. And then when Zach Stewart took the mound, and then proceeded to blow the shutout, we gave him a nice loud round of boos. I was really hoping Robin would at least let Sale take the mound for the 9th so he could get a standing ovation when he exited. That was something Ozzie did really well after a great pitching performance.
  25. I don't follow or care about Boxing, but everything I am seeing on Twitter is saying they think it was fixed so they would get a rematch that would be even bigger than this fight. Because everyone knows a revenge fight to settle a wrongdoing is going to sell mad tickets and pay-per views.
