So I assume all of you who hate Jersey Shore must hate The Real World and The Challenge or whatever it's called, and all those types of shows too.....

Wilkins seems to be very streaky. Will go 0-5 a couple nights in a row, and then put up back to back multi-hit games. Love his HR stroke though. Looks like he just hammers the ball. According to this video, he hit that ball over 500+ ft.

QUOTE (jwmann2 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 12:35 AM) Are the Cubs going to start acting like a franchise now that Mckendry is gone? They will likely free up some money by giving zambrano the axe. Got a weird feeling that Pujols could end up a Cub next season too. It was Hendry, and I am PRETTY certain the Cubs will end up with either Pujols or Fielder next year. They have lots of money freed up, can spend tons of a money, need a 1B, need to show the fans they still care about winning, and most of the other big players (Yankees, Red Sox) have 1B locked down already.

It was quite obvious they were going to save the fight for the "special episode" on Sunday. f***ing bulls*** MTV.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 12:33 AM) Players change, management the same, result the same. But I mean, what's a normal number? How does that 103 compare to like the Red Sox, Rays, or Pirates over that time? As far as I know, 103 could be in the middle of the pack. That's what I am talking about, I have no frame of reference to compare that number to. -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 12:25 AM) Got this off a thread at WSI. According to Retrosheet.com the Sox have had a total of 103 players make an appearance in at least one game since the start of the 2007 season through Tuesday night. That means nothing to me without any reference. -
Get it over with and let Buehrle go to Yanks/Red Sox

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) Because the Tigers don't have a second starter if the playoffs were to start tomorrow, it'd probably be Scherzer. (They are five deep through 2014, so they could easily afford to just "rent" Buehrle for the final five weeks and post-season). The Yankees clearly don't have defined 2nd or 3rd starters. We're going to need to save every penny we can payroll-wise the next 2-3 seasons, might as well start now. It already began with Teahen and Jackson being shed. Then the Tigers would be putting in a claim to actually try and swing a trade, not do it as a block against other teams. -

QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 12:19 AM) I doubt it. I'd bet $100 on 25 HR, 80 RBI though. Dude are you CRAZY!???!?!? HE IS DONE! HE FORGOT HOW TO HIT THE BALL HARD! If he ever hits 20 home-runs in a single season for the rest of his career I'd give YOU $100! HE IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /knee-jerk sarcasm -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:56 PM) 1.) We can't contend with Dunn and Rios. So we are in for a long season again next year. 2.) People that think Dunn can rebound ... well we have no argument against you cause he can suck and suck and you can always say, "He'll turn it around." It's like people who this year said "it's early" all year long. Hell a lot of people think we're still in the race cause "there's time." It'll finally run out and then the word will be wait til next year when Dunn and Rios return to form. At some point you have to accept facts: Dunn and Rios are done. It's almost like you have never heard of Adam Dunn before this season and this is the first you've seen him. If you want to believe he will be a .160 hitter with about 15 HR each of the next 3 years, then that's fine, I'll be sure to buy you some more coloring books and crayons for X-mas then. -

Great throw by Alexei. RIGHT over his shoulder on a bullet to Tyler. Love it when that works out. -

Why would the Tigers block a trade to a team that they are not competing against, when it hurts the team they are directly competing against? -

The funny, or awful, thing about Rios' pop ups are that he never seems to know where the ball is, and then he jolts his head up in surprise and then jogs. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:31 PM) You can't say this anymore. He led the league in average distance for home runs the past few years, and now this year, he's probably only hit 3 or 4 "long" homers. You really think he went from Ryan Howard power to Tadahito Iguchi power in one offseason? I have no seen Dunn in batting practice, but I bet he hits his fair share of 450+ ft balls. The power is still there, it's how contact rate and ability to hit crushable pitches that is totally out of wack. Guys, especially prolific home-run hitters, don't just randomly lose all their strength. Like they say, your speed is the first thing to go, your power is the last. -

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:25 PM) As awful as this season has been, it's completely depressing to think the Sox are stuck with Rios and Dunn for three more seasons. Dunn is finished. He's inept. There isn't one thing he does at the major league level -- hit for average (no), hit for power (no), run (no), field (no) and catch (no). The Chairman needs to make somebody answer for wasting $56 million. It's ridiculous. You are confusing "having a bad season" with "has no skills". Dunn has more power than almost anyone in this league, and to think otherwise is ridiculous, really. -

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) Rips set up wrong, but the throw was strong. Sox just giving the game away No doubt he caught and threw flat-footed, but that throw was a bullet, made it in the air at a perfect height, and only off the mark by a foot or so, not bad for a throw from like 200 feet away. -

That was a great throw by Rios. Hawk is right throw, Tyler should have let the ball come to him, but I think he was protecting himself from being railroaded by giving Kendrick the back of the plate. -
