  1. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) I see a switch to first base or left field in Jon Gilmore's future. He's is one of the most awkward looking fielders I've ever seen. He also sub-marines all his throws to first base. I think I know why he doesn't hit for more power. He certainly hits the ball hard, but he hunches over when he's batting. He's a big, strong kid, has horse legs. I just think if he straightened up, he could drive the ball out of the park more. Really? I thought when we got him, he was supposed to be a plus fielder at 3B?
  2. Good findings, Oilcan. Can we officially update the 1st page with these, or are they not "officially" signed?
  3. I do like that the Sox are building up a friendly atmosphere OUTSIDE of the park. That's always been the big knock that the going to Sox games is not a place you can hang out before and after, like Wrigley where there is a large bar/restaurant scene outside of the park.
  4. Wilkins got moved up to the 3-hole despite being in a slump. Still doing a good job of drawing walks and not striking out too much. Just seems to be getting a little unlucky.
  5. Oh my god Phillip. That curveball is just unfair.
  6. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) On ESPNU. For me at least. I wonder if it's on ESPN3.com too. They had quite a few games there last year.
  7. Teahen at 3B, Dunn at 1B, and Pierre in LF? Even Beckham is probably better defensively than Vizquel at 2B. I guess Ozzie doesn't want Humber to have any defense behind him.

  9. QUOTE (gfbaseball @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 12:22 PM) Hey, what's with the dog on Great Falls. Great Falls is a great place to play and be assigned. Warm temps during the day, cool temps at night. None of those games played in 98% humidity and 105 temp. No sales tax for these guys to pay when they are here, that's a popular one I've heard lots of times. A great updated stadium to play in that is near capacity every night. Stays light out til 10:00 in the summer and we've got the best Fourth of July fireworks display which is always a home game cause we sell out every year! Small community where they are treated like pros and everybody knows their name, even if they are just rookies in the minors. There are a bunch of guys in this organization that started in Great Falls and I'd bet a case of Montana's finest beer, Great Falls Select, that every one has fond memories of their time in the Big Sky State! Just going out of a limb here, but I think he just meant being sent far away from professional baseball, or professional sports in general, not necessarily the town of Great Falls in particular. I can't imagine many people think of Montana as a great sports state! Heh.
  10. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:53 AM) Johnson indeed pitches tonight. On TV?
  11. I would be for this if they added 2 more teams (16 in each league, allowing interleague play to remain special), and allowed 6 teams from each league to make the playoffs, like in the NFL. Then, like the NFL give the top 2 teams a BYE series. Maybe make the wildcard a literal "Wildcard weekend" 3 game series. Friday-Saturday-Sunday games. I think Indianapolis could very well sustain an MLB team as I believe the Indianapolis Indians are always one of the highest in attendance. Then maybe give Carolina a team since there is a ton of minor league baseball there already, they could probably get a big baseball fanbase. That's what I would root for at least. Mainly because I'd love to have a team in Indy. I think that would be a fun "2nd" team for me to follow.
  12. QUOTE (LayelBurton @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 02:06 AM) Can't hold truth to it, but his Facebook lists him as Blake Jake Drake. He's on Jacob Petricka's friends so I'm pretty sure its legit. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=665948785 Kinda stalker-ish but Oops! (: Lol, it's cool, I looked at his FB page too. I was considering making him an AAP for myself, but I haven't decided.
  13. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 01:51 AM) I was obviously kidding Joecoolman, geez. I wasn't mad, I was just answering your question in a lazy way. Thought you were honestly asking.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 01:38 AM) You sure that wasn't just a scouting report for him? QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 12:37 AM) And to your comment suggesting no one wants Phil Humber, the Yankees WERE scouting him heavily during his last start. Unless of course you want to believe they are scouting a pitcher they have already played this year 2 months in advance of any possible matchup.
  15. QUOTE (LayelBurton @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 01:36 AM) David Herbek - SS - Round 15 - Will Sign Today Headed to Great Falls http://www2.insidenova.com/sports/2011/jun...att-ar-1102232/ Nice.
  16. QUOTE (LayelBurton @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 01:30 AM) Bunting, Semien power Cal past Dallas Baptist http://www.sacbee.com/2011/06/11/3693911/b...r-cal-past.html Marcus Semien is the Sox 6th Rounder Sexy.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 12:48 AM) Well, I'll concede I know nothing about the Yankees scouting Phil Humber. So I'll take your word for it. But you may as well keep him. You're not getting anything worth a damn for a nearly 29-year old pitcher who's had a good two months. You must not have seen it, but I mentioned a couple pages back that my friend was at the game sitting behind a Yankees scout. I asked her to peer over his shoulder to see what he was writing, and she said he had Humbers name written all over his papers and was making lots of notes.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 12:35 AM) I got to talk to Minnie Minoso, was told me and my parents are "his family" and told to call him next time were at a game. And Lillibridge is a badass. You got Minnie's number? You dog, you.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 12:30 AM) Shack is actually right this time. Unless this team is calling it a season, we're in no position to trade a SP. Peavy simply cannot be counted on over a long stretch. He's a walking corpse that just happens to be alive. Humber? Yes. He's made me look like a fool to this point. But he's still Phil Humber. The nearly 29-year old that had done next to nothing before this season. And we all know about our SP situation in the minors. The both of you are confusing "I expect the Yankees to ask about our starters, I wonder what they would offer" with "Hey, I think we should trade a starter". Quite the difference. And to your comment suggesting no one wants Phil Humber, the Yankees WERE scouting him heavily during his last start. Unless of course you want to believe they are scouting a pitcher they have already played this year 2 months in advance of any possible matchup.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 12:23 AM) Not trying to be a jerk, but if KW went and traded one of our starting pitchers tomorrow for anyone other than Jesus Montero, wouldn't most people be like WTF (and even some would still be asking that question)? Not saying Kenny would or should, just assuming the Yankees would ask on Danks/Jackson/Humber and wondering what the rumors might be of what they would trade, because I can almost guarantee that Kenny wouldn't consider anything unless it was Montero or Romine + prospects.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 12:19 AM) We no longer have an excess. They may as well call everyone. Ok.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 12:10 AM) Why? We no longer have an extra SP, and we certainly have no one able to step in should one of the current SP's be traded. Why would the Yankees be calling? Because they are desperate for starting pitching.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 12:14 AM) The goal is to get to .500 and then blow right by it. Not to recover from deflating losses and still remain under .500. Just making a mention, but didn't you just say yesterday "When was the last time this team actually won after a deflating loss like this?". Maybe it wasn't you, but someone said it last night.
  24. Just asked Kevin Goldstein if he thinks Addison Reed is legit, and he said "VERY legit", then I asked if there is a chance the Sox make him a reliever again, and he said "Was meant to relieve". Kind of disappointing that he is just seen as a reliever, but love that he is dominating.
  25. Bartolo Colon now to the DL. I'd have to imagine they are blowing up Kenny's phone. I wonder what kind of offers he may get, and for whom.
