  1. So Blake Drake has a twitter, and his twitter name is @BlakeJakeDrake. Man, I really hope Jake is his middle name! lol. Anyway, found it kind of interesting that according to his twitter, he went up to Chicago on Jun 2nd and visited US Cellular field. One of his tweets reads... "Hit 97 on the stadium gun at US cellular " I assume he is talking about himself. But when I have looked up scouting reports for this guy, it says he throws about 91. And I looked up a scouting video from 2009, and it showed him only hitting 88. Could he really have ramped up his velo that much? I understand "hitting 97" is not maintaining it, but I assume it means he can pump it in at 94-95 with some frequency.
  2. QUOTE (hawkubes @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 03:32 AM) its hilarious b****in about KW trading away Gio a half decade ago when he'd be our 7th pitcher right now. OK 6th with peavy hurt. Wait, what? Gio is a very good young pitcher, he would be like a #2 for us...
  3. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 01:01 AM) It gets even better when you enter her name in the Google machine. Oh, oh, I like those results.
  4. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 01:13 AM) I won't lie...I love Gio. He's essentially the only prospect we've let go in the last while that hurts for me. Yeah, I agree. Gio is a legit pitcher, and it hurts to lose him.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) Brotherhood was really good. Intense the whole 80 minutes. Is that the one with Jake Gylenhall and Tobey McGuire? If so, my roommate and I hated that movie, or at least how it ended.
  6. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:04 AM) I've kind of wondered that, but it seems to cliche. I actually never even considered it.
  7. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 11:39 PM) I'm a little confused about Reed's overall line today. He had 2.0 IP with 4 strikeouts, and 0 walks or hits allowed, yet he also had 3 groundouts? That just doesn't add up. I guess one of his strikeouts got away from the catcher? If that's the case, that's a potentially great sign for the movement of his slider. I'm also happy to see all of his non-strikeout-outs were of the groundball variety. Obviously it's a tremendously small sample size, but he'd been allowing a lot more flyballs since his promotion. Looking at the play-by-play recap, a player reached on a fielding error at 2B, and they apparently count that as a groundout for Reed. So he had 1 K, and 3 groundouts in the 6th inning, and then struck out the side in the 7th. (Their 3, 4, and 5 hitters who were 4 for 7 against the other pitchers)
  8. Ahhh, Ohman COULDN'T quite go an outing without giving up run(s). Oh well, I'm still damn sure we won't need to ruin Sergio for this one.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) Nelson Cruz just hit the longest HR I've seen this season. Upper deck in left-center at Target. Oh wow, that may beat Fielders HR that was like 482.
  10. I wish Ozzie had the nuts to put Morel in at 3B for a defensive replacement.....
  11. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) Calder Memorial Trophy for the Rookie of the Year. Calder Cup for winner of the AHL playoffs. Ah, well that's confusing.
  12. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) That 32nd of a second will get ya every time. Everyone knows baseball is a game of 32nds of an inch.
  13. Dunn was 1/32 of a second from a lot of being being owed $5 on this board.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 09:58 AM) So it's not quite the Stanley Cup, but I got to drink out of the Calder Cup last night (AHL trophy) I thought the Calder Cup was the award for the rookie of the year?
  15. Well, you had a nice run Mark, let's get to the bullpen soon.
  16. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) Juan Pierre may or may not have lost a step (another), I really don't know. I do seem to remember that even though his stolen base percentage was barely acceptable last season. it seemed that many of his successful attempts last year were plays where the throw beat him to the bag, but J.P. used some deceptive slides (hand placement, etc.) to get the safe call. Maybe the defenders aren't falling for that anymore so his success rate has dropped. Anyone else remember this, or am I misremembering? No, you are right. If I remember correctly, he did it like 2-3 times in the same series vs. the Cubs and just made Castro look like really bad with those deceptive hand jives. I haven't seen him use that very much at all this year. Yeah, here we go.... http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=9395015 and http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=8942857
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) I just feel that whomever is revealed as the killer won't make me fulfilled at all unless it is someone completely out there. Show just lost steam with me. Nah, because I think
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) The what, 11 in a row retired agree. I think they are only batting 9 this game, I think some of those guys have come up multiple times.
  19. Another great outing for Addison Reed. Seriously, get this kid to AA. 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K. 50 K to just 5 BB in 36 IP this year. His peripherals are outstanding. 6.19 H/9, 1.23 BB/9, 12.39 K/9, 10 K:BB, 0.82 WHIP Now 8 of those innings are from Low-A, but his rates have been roughly the same from Low-A to High-A.
  20. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) CQ has left 6 guys not a good night. True, but at that first AB ended w/ a BS punchout, and he did hit the flyball about 380 feet. At least he isn't looking bad in his ABs.
