  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) Can I ask you a question? Let's say the Sox did put Sale in AAA to start the year. They don't bring him up until the end of August and when they do they place him in the bullpen. Prior to this, the Sox use a bunch of AAAA type players to fill this spot. At the same time, Will Ohman serves as our left-handed setup man and is forced to face more right-handed hitters than he should. The Sox end up losing the division to the Twins by one game. Are you still happy? Would you have wished you had Sale in the bullpen all year? Yes. I ama little drunk, but they lsoe 1 game in 2011`, but they win 5-6 more games in 2012 because sale is acutlal able to progess to a starting spot in 2012. If he is a bullpen pitcher in 2o011, then he won't become an effective starter unitl 2013 atthe earlist, so you have compeltely sacrificied your 2012 seaosn, a season in which is already going nto be weakeked witht he loss of jackosn and buehrle potentially. I would rahter have 2 less options for startes in 2012 than 3 less. Because no well in hell Sale can piutch 33-34 starts in 2012 if he is in the bullpen for 2011. SO now you ahve to fill 3 starting spots in 2012 instead of just 2. And since we all know a starter costs more than a reliver, we are acutlaly oging to end up spenidn gmore money on a year tha t is aleady going to be tight on budget because of backloading contracts signed this season. Look at Texas. They are afria dot put feliz int he rotation because of his success in 2010. The difference is that they hav ethe flexibilit yto do so with their minor league pitcher. The sox do not. We odn't hav e afarm suystem to replace starters next year. We ned all the starters we can get.
  2. If moillege can devne h9it 15-20 home uns next season, he wil;l be like our own little andurw jones of last year, but with more speed, more potentioal, younger, cheaper, but less devense unfortunalte. i am a fan. Jeeopm him onboard
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Nice bounce back for Jackson after the 1st inning. Scoreless inning for Sale, but a walk and 2 hits. I love his arm, and I'm sure he'll be ok in the pen, but there's part of me that wishes he was getting 27 starts at Birmingham this season. Probably your brain.
  4. Well, I'm 6/8 and tied for first in our league! Woo! L'Ville game was my worst loss, but I still got 15 of 16 sweet 16 teams left.
  5. Oh hey Milledge, welcome to the 2011 White Sox 25 man roster.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) I didnt join because I didnt want to deal with worrying about payment, collecting, etc. I do that for a job, not for fun. My final 4 was: OSU, Wisconsin, Kansas and UConn KU- OSU final OSU win Mine was similar. I had OSU, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Uconn, with OSU beating Wisconsin for the finals.
  7. Glad my roommate talked me out of picking Clemson to win at like 1 am last night. Ugh. Clemson up by 9 right now. I think I forgot to change it for the Soxtalk bracket though.
  8. QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 02:17 AM) and pressing a button to field isn't dumb? No. It's how video games have always been, and it works better IMO than the stick does. Plus, I hate how the stick gives away the location of your throw. It puts a little arrow in the direction you are throwing it, so, assuming it doesn't change when you play vs. someone, it gives away where the ball will be thrown.
  9. Wait, is the ESPN one a $10 entry too? Because I joined the ESPN Soxtalk one....
  10. Saw a commercial for Sports Show w/ Norm McDonald last night. Looks like that will be the Sportsdome's replacement. I'll watch it.
  11. I don't know amigo, I wanted two docks for my fishing boats, but I guess I'll have to deal with Juan Pierre. (hispanic accent)
  12. I really thought I was a hillbilly piece of garbage who couldn't do anything right, but Adam Dunn f***ed up this time!
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 12:02 PM) Kevin, Youkilis with your funny jokes!
  14. QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 11:29 PM) Played the show for the first time tonight. I am in love with the new controls. I really love hitting now. Pitching is cool, but I'm not a big fan of how you basically don't even have to aim anymore, and playing against someone is damn near impossible to pitch. Fielding w/ the stick is just dumb.
  15. It felt good to kick ass against a really good team, especially after the way it started.
  16. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 10:56 PM) Btw, forgot to follow up on that tweet. Gonzalez then tweeted like 10 minutes later that Sale would be pitching middle innings follow E-Jax' start that same day instead of starting (it's a split squad day and Ozzie wants to see him; his scheduled start would have been at the other location). But yeah, point made. oh.
  17. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 10:54 AM) Mark Gonzales MDGonzales 5 minutes ago They are going to start him!?!!? AHHHHHH BUT HE CAN'T START!! HE WAS SO GOOD IN THE 23 INNINGS HE PITCHED OUT OF THE BULLPEN!!!! f*** THE VALUE, I WANT THE INSTANT GRATIFICATION!!!! /sarcasm
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 10:13 PM) It's a "look at me" thing. He's running down the 3rd base line, 30-40 feet from homeplate. What's the point of taking your helmet off there other than to show off? Just cross homeplate, high five your teammates, and take the f***ing helmet off in the dugout. I guess I'm just more easy going.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) lmao. Oh my goodness. What is with you? Is there not any scrub that we could bring in that you don't think we can turn into the next superstar? Uh what? When did I say we can turn him into a superstar? I said "IF" not "WHEN". I said "COULD" not "WILL". Is it not true that his biggest concern is his walks? And is it not true that his K rates are really impressive? Not sure what you are seeing.... I guess next time I should just say he is a piece of garbage who should never see a mound for the rest of his life and just give up on baseball?
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 07:01 PM) Milledge, nice homerun, but keep the helmet on until you cross homeplate. It's a dick move. I don't see how it's a dick move, unless it's just because it's not something you see players do.
  21. Apparently Sale isn't doing well. I wonder if he is hanging everything...
  22. I wish this game was on whitesox.com.....
  23. According to the beatwriters who are all just repeating the same things on Twitter, Peavy is working out of the stretch in the 4th, and promptly allows a single to Cameron Maybin.
