How do YOU want this team to look in 2011?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Real's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:14 AM) It's not the names on the back of the jersey that counts. It's the name on the front. That was adorable! -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:35 AM) Silverio with another HR. He's raking: .329/.375/.562. What does everyone think of this? Good, but I won't get excited about him until he is doing things like this in AA.

I can agree w/ the OP. I'll take a sweep of the Twins, as long as we sweep the Royals.

I picked..... -- Quentin. I think Q is still a valuable player to us, and his high amount of RBI compared to his AVG proves how clutch he is and is such a solid run producer. I would like to see him DH though... -- Pierzynki. I just don't think Flowers is quite ready yet. I would like AJ for one more year. His handling of the pitchers might be enough for me to sit through his incredible cold streaks. -- Putz. I loved this signing from the beginning, and I think he can be our future closer as it seems Thornton may not be comfortable closing. Whether he is closing or setting-up, he is very solid. -- Buerhrle. Mostly for sentimental reasons. I really don't want to see Burl's leave, especially since his contract is not up. If it was his final year, I would be more apt to be ok with him leaving. -- Thornton. Basically the same that I wrote for Putz. He can be our future closer, or if he is not comfortable, he can be a solid set-up man for us to Putz. -
Sox draft signings and reporting places

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) So we are pretty much a Grimes signing away from having everyone we wanted? I was just about to ask what the idea is on Grimes. He is considered to have some pretty good potential, but dropped because of signability issues, right? -
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) The rumored time line was a mid July promotion to Charlotte and then Chicago some time in August. I think Sept 1st is when they will bring him up when the rosters expand.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) I wonder when they just say, screw it, and send Sale to Charlotte. Supposedly in a week or so.

2/3 with 2 2B and a BB for Morel today. AVG up to .276
-
QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:18 PM) Chris Sale threw a scoreless inning in relief today with no hits and 2K's Hell yeah! 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K. Not bad buddy.

Morel is 1/1 with a double. AVG to .272

QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) Marquez was recalled, not Hudson. Does this suggest a greater likelihood of Hudson being involved in a trade? I think it just may. No, he is just covering for Pena being unavailable this weekend. I mean, sure maybe it was a "Let's call up Marquez, so incase we trade Hudson, we will, or we will just bring Hudson up Sunday and let Marquez cover for Pena this weekend"

Votto and Nick "Asshole" Swisher won.

Sometimes you have to overpay to keep players away from rivals.

Name Change? Anything else needed?

Can someone make mine "The Official Soxtalk Nicknamer" I think it's obvious everyone loves my nicknames. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) Voting closed, when do we find out? Like 5 pm I think. Paulie has no chance.

FWIW, Gavin Floyd was the last Sox starter to allow an earned run. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) He's already made his 2nd appearance. He debuted on the 2nd, he pitched again on the 5th. Oh, I clearly missed his 2nd appearance.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) not to mention Pena coming in for an emergency "start" and only allowing one run... I really think Pena might be a starter for the long term, he seems to let his stuff work more when he knows he's out there for awhile instead of trying to ace every pitch in relief I heard on 670 that Pena actually walked up to the park yesterday with Ozzie and told him is willing to start this Sunday. Ozzie told him thanks for the offer, but I want to keep the bullpen roles the same. -

Sox starters over last 5 games..... 30 2/3 IP, 18 H, 4 ER, 5 BB, 19 K, 0.91 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, 3.80 K/BB Sox are 5-0 over that stretch. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) Go Orioles. Can you at least win one in Detroit? Please? Nope, that series is over. -
Anyone know where I can find these Sox commercials? I know it's stupid, but I live in Schererville, and every time I hear the commercial start "An office manager in Schererville", I whip my head over to the TV. I wanted to share this video, but I can't find it. All I can find is the older ones from the winter.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Reeling: verb To not be "Hot Fire" I've always thought of it as doing really well. I must be wrong, but for whatever reason, that's how I have always heard it used.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) Milwaukee has been reeling lately. Wonder if talks regarding Fielder have increased. Your definition of "reeling" confuses me.
