Sox sign 2B Josh Harrison (1 yr, 5.5M; club option; 1.5M buyout)
Once you go Harrison, there’s no comparison. - Josh Harrison

FG has Sox at 75% to win division, 84% playoffs
If there’s one positive to the extra playoff team, the Sox have to max out on wins to stay away from the 3-seed.

At least there’s some talk it won’t start until the 11th or 12th inning. Hopefully the 12th.

Sox Sign Vince Velasquez
The Sox were remarkably healthy in 1990 and won 94 games. Don’t remember a huge problem league wide. Of course that’s pre-max effort baseball. But if they expanded in April 1990, they’re expanding the roster in April 2022.

Sox Sign Vince Velasquez
They’ve said they’re waiting to discuss it, but let’s put it this way… In 1990, they ended the lockout on March 19, and opening day was April 9th. They went with 28 man active rosters for three weeks.

I’m thinking in April they expand rosters to 28 or 29, so I’m not too concerned…yet.

Spring Training thread
Noticed many teams have announced non-roster invitees. Kinda boring, but it would at least be a reminder of who is there. Can’t remember the catcher from the Nationals that signed.

I don’t think there’s any doubt Kimbrel is gone by Monday night.

Underwhelming, but fine if they get Conforto or better for RF.

Offseason Part 2 - Lets the Rumors & Action Begin
I like that they’re doing this because it may make the sport more national than regional. But I’m surprised they’re going to do this considering travel costs, more west coast games for central and East teams, and there’s an outside chance a very mediocre division could have a losing record win a division. More than likely they’ll do this for a few years while they settle on the TB/Oak stadium issues and two team expansion, and then MLB will have a big realignment where the Sox and Cubs play at least 13 games a season.

That would be a nice get. He and Lindor didn’t get along, so I’m definitely on this guy’s side.

Carson Fulmer is relieved hearing that rule

Giant bases??!?!?!?!?!
While they were at it, they should’ve done something about the size of first base and clear up the throwing lane rule.

Looks like Nightengale was right that teams weren’t going to announce anything tonight.

The MLB lockout is lifted!
Dan Hayes (yes, him) is reporting the Twins series will be in Chicago 10/3-5, tentatively. So the at Royals games will have to be made up during the season.

The MLB lockout is lifted!
I would think: 13 games x 4 (division teams) 3 games x 15 (vs NL teams) + 1 vs cubs (2/2 series) 6 or 7 games x 10 AL teams out of division 52+ 46+ 64= 162 I like playing a variety of teams, but there’s also an outside chance a 5-team division could have a very low win total. At this point, just get rid of divisions, and play a balanced schedule.
