Reds play the Pirates six games, Padres four, Marlins four, Royals twice
Rangers play the Angels nine, Padres three, Twins two more this weekend
Mets play the Marlins seven, Nationals four...the rest is pretty tough
As long as the Sox do their part and not go better than 14-13, I think they'll hang on to 6th.
Probably looking at 6th unless the Reds are four games worse and/or the Rangers are five games worse than the Sox over the final 27.
Won’t complain about 6th. It would be a pretty high pick while having a solid starting rotation.
I just hope the next CBA gets creative with service time and gets players that deserve to be in the big leagues there without a huge disincentive to the club.
And the term “September Callup” needs to die forever.
The Sox are at 40 now
Besides the 25 current—
DL- Abreu, Leury, Jones, Castillo...is Jones done for the year?
40-man (up this yr)- Fulmer, Bummer, Danish, Tilson, Skole, Garneau
40-man (not up this yr)- Clarkin, Basabe, Adolfo, Jimenez, Cordell
Somehow, I don't think he's going to be attending Soxfest in January.
Smart move. Hopefully they can still discuss a long term deal, but if not, see you April 10 or 15.
I mentioned this the other day, but it's true...years ago, if you saw a 21-yr-old prospect killing it at AAA, you'd be happy, but you'd say, "That guy is going to be awesome next year when he gets called up". You wouldn't necessarily be demanding his call up for your entertainment for a month. So part of the problem is just social media and being exposed to his daily performance. And yes, the White Sox themselves add to that hype, but they're not doing anything that bad here.
I'm going to trust that they've weighed all of this into a decision that makes the most sense for the window of winning they're trying to attain....which is 2021-2025.
If he wants to sign before then, great.
Ok, file then.
I'm sure the Sox have tried to lock him up to a deal that would put him in LF tonight. If he wants to sign and get the money, I'm all for it. Until then, it's just a smart business move that takes in consideration what the Player's Association collectively bargained.
A 21-yr-old that hasn't played a full season in AAA. I don't care how good he is, the Sox don't have to feel bad about anything. The MLBPA is to blame, as they collectively bargain this stuff.
