Today is the 162nd game played in the big leagues for Moncada. My guess is 163 to 324 will be a lot better. He’s too good not to improve a lot.
  2. Hahn is doing the Garfien podcast tonight from a bar. That should be interesting.
  3. Jace Fry. No e at the end.
  4. Sox hold the tiebreaker over everyone except the Tigers, Giants, and Phillies. Orioles will pick first. No doubt in my mind.
  5. The Royals schedule is soft enough that 24-31 isn’t out of the question. That would put them at 58-104. The Sox would have to go 21-34 the rest of the way.
  6. Doubt the Sox catch KC, but a loss today would put the Sox two back (ahead) with 54 left and six head-to-head remaining. fun fact: Royals are done with the AL West and Yankees and Red Sox. So they do have some easier opportunities for wins. I hope Lopez is good, but they lose today.

Madrigal 0-3, but still K-less Only one error as a pro too, and that was at SS in Arz. It seems like they have just made him a 2B only guy now, so I’d have no problem flipping Sanchez and Moncada in Chicago. Face the inevitable now.
  8. Maybe he went there to tell Kopech and Jimenez to their faces they aren’t coming up until next April. Probably not, but you never know. Whatever they’re going to do is probably a done deal, so I hope they make the right decision and won’t regret it in 2024 or whenever.

  10. Also add the first two weeks of next season that starts in late March again. Playing in 45 degree weather isn’t exactly ideal for getting quality innings/at bats.
  11. Approximately 68 Sox games without Kopech and Jimenez left before they start 15 year careers, hopefully. It’s an easy call. You wait.
  12. Mike Petriello. Can’t stand that guy. Not even kidding- if you start a game, you can’t pitch for three days after, including postseason...unless a game goes into extra innings.
  13. Renteria overreacted in this case. Choose your battles, dude.
  14. ...and 27 pitches in the 3rd inning.
  15. Sale said he isn’t worried about it, and could pitch if he had to. This is just a 10-day DL thing. Just getting a reset for his final 9 starts before October.
  16. Padres lost again today. Boo.
  17. Kopech 2 innings, gave up a solo homer, but only 19 pitches.
  18. Sounds mostly precautionary. 10-day DL is a treasure for teams in the Red Sox position right now.
  19. I do feel like 3-3:30 will have a few late announcements. Tons of deals are being discussed. There will be a few stragglers that could include the Sox.
  20. The tremor before the big one in 10 minutes. (yeah, probably not)
  21. Ok, what’s more likely? Him understanding the situation the team is in right now and wanting to maximize his time in the winning years or him holding a grudge? To me, it’s more likely he’ll understand- and the team will reward him later on for that.
  22. If his relationship with the club is irreparably harmed because they made him play fewer than 130 AAA games at age 21-22, then his agent and players association are doing a bad job explaining how things work. He’ll get over it.
  23. Agreed. Eloy and Kopech should be up April 12, 2019...which should be the first game of the 5th series. No apologies or excuses needed. Just wait until you get the extra year.
  24. Padres had a chance to win last night, but blew a squeeze bunt. They’re losing a lot lately, and have a tough remaining schedule. Hopefully the Sox finish no better than 61-101, and it’s enough for the third pick. Duffy beating the Sox tonight wouldn’t suck.
