  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) Honestly I don't think I've ever been less excited to see the Sox winning a game. I think this team winning 68 games could be more watchable than the 78-win team they'd have doing nothing. At least we know what the plan is, and the unqualified manager is long gone.
  2. That sucks. God rest his soul, as he would say.
  3. 80 pitches in four innings. Plenty of time.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) I think you are really over simplifying the ability to just move games later in the season. Against division teams? Easy. I wouldn't be questioning this if it were against a team not coming back.
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 11:25 AM) What fire are they playing with? I see nothing wrong with having him start Sunday I'm more making a comment on the way they've handled the weather problems. I just think today's game has the potential to be a farce, and they would not have been wrong to move both games to later in the season.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) What's wrong with that? You'd rather watch Covey? First off, if they're setting a rotation with fans in mind, they're playing with fire. I haven't second guessed anything this week- I've first guessed. Today should have been called. The Twins series should have been Shields, Holland, and Gonzalez. Quintana on Tuesday for the Indians home opener.
  7. Quintana starting Sunday. The Sox have made a lot of mistakes this week.
  8. Yeah, I don't doubt Law's opinions are genuine, but I do think he tries to be provocative, which is fine. I'm kinda happy somebody is saying "slow your roll" on Robert.
  9. Jacob May, good luck.
  10. I roll my eyes at Keith Law a lot, but he's not that high on Robert.
  11. Maybe a mod can change the title from Today's to Wednesday to not cause confusion. (Thank you) It appears they're playing today.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 09:12 AM) Yeah it makes no sense for Angels-A's, Dodgers-Padres, Astros-Mariners for example to open against each other even though they play in the same division. Depends on your perspective. With the unbalanced schedule, it makes more sense to load up early on teams that will return to that city. Every series outside the division is one and done.
  13. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 09:04 AM) Well that's not possible for all teams to play a team in their division. I know that. That's why I used the word "mostly". There should have been 12 division games, and the other three should have been in places where weather isn't much of factor.
  14. No announcement yet, but this from Van Schouwen... https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/849972336979836928 See above for what I would do. Red Sox/Pirates already postponed today. The Pirates fly back to Boston next Thursday. That's why you start with mostly division games.
  15. Somebody let Lindor know the WBC is over.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 08:23 PM) Anybody getting sick of MLB's insistence on having teams play teams in their own division 19 times? It's getting boring IMO. Mr. Steinbrenner is no longer alive, rest his soul. He's the one who wanted to play Boston 19 times and got this thing going. Why don't they change it back? Nobody else is getting bored of games vs. the Tigers, Twinks, Tribe and Royals? Ugh. I mean 8 times a year would be great. 19?? B-O-R-I-N-G. If it were up to me, they'd eliminate divisions, play 12 interleague games within your own time zone, and 150 league games (10 or 11 vs each team). Top 3 teams in each league make the playoffs. 4th and 5th best teams play 1 game to get in. Never going to happen though. MLB only cares about being regional, not national.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 08:10 PM) I wonder if it would have been a day/night doubleheader if the Sox were projected to be a contender. As is, they just figure no big deal; one ticket for the two games. Probably. 2 games for the price of one is a selling point for some teams. Others don't have the option of giving up a gate. If tomorrow gets called, I could see a day/night August 25th. Better weather, at the end of summer.
  18. Sox tweets this morning... Today’s game between the #WhiteSox and Detroit Tigers has been postponed due to rain. The game will be made up on May 26 as part of a straight doubleheader, beginning at 4:10 PM. The originally scheduled game will begin at 7:10 PM, or 30 mins following the conclusion of the opener. Tickets & parking coupons for today’s postponed game can be exchanged for equal or lesser value to any future regular-season Sox home game. All exchanges must be done at the Guaranteed Rate Field box office during regular business hours or by mail. Fans with tickets for today’s game cannot use those tickets for entry on May 26.Fans with tickets for the 7:10 PM game on May 26 may attend both games of the doubleheader.
  19. QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 05:22 PM) So you could exchange the tickets for tickets to a future game that isn't necessarily on 5/26? You're not locked into the make up game in May? Correct. May 26th is its own game- but it's two games. If it were a day/night doubleheader, then today's game would have been for Game 1.
  20. His last 460 innings pitched, he's carrying a 4.97 ERA. Welcome to the team! s***, just bring back Danks. I dunno.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) Does Big ERA James get skipped or does he go the next game? If they play tomorrow, it's Shields vs Boyd. I'm thinking it'll get called, and the Twins series will be Shields, Holland, and Gonzalez. Opening Day Tuesday in Cleveland will be Quintana, followed by Covey and Shields.
  22. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) It would be amazing if Adolfo did anything positive this season So far he has been a huge disappointment He's at an age where it's ok to be at Kannapolis. Hopefully he climbs the ladder starting this year, and by 2020, he's what they thought he could be.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) I think you need to tweet at Jesse Rogers: Jesse Rogers‏ @ESPNChiCubs Cubs game cancelled. Will play tomorrow at 12:45 pm. http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0641295742798929275-4 … If I had a twitter account, I would. It's amazing how baseball media people get this wrong, but I guess language is just a suggestion.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 10:13 AM) If they really want to play, there seems like there will be a window in the afternoon. It won't be pleasant, but they can definitely play. Wind is going to make it unplayable. Unless they want to play in sustained 30 mph winds and higher gusts, and wind chills in the 20s. It's a division team. Do a day/night in August.
  25. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 09:58 AM) You've literally said this about 20 times in the past two days...we get it. Because the Sox haven't used much common sense this week. I've made my point. See you Friday.
