  1. Go Bears. I was afraid of this. It's either Humber or Stewart taking one for the team.

Didn't realize Birmingham had a night game... http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...biraax_monaax_2 Mitchell is 5-5 today, but I won't say anything more than that. Can't get too excited. Quintana good so far.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 01:25 PM) Why are people thinking calling him a September call-up candidate is so crazy? It's not like they said he will be in Chicago by June. 15 players get added to the roster in September, and I can see Robin wanting an advanced speedy player on his bench if the Sox are in the hunt. Thank you. Maybe I did a bad job making my point. The season has a long way to go, but considering where he was a year ago, and where he is now, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility he's in the Sox dugout in September. I hope he plays well enough to get there.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) He hasn't even had 100 PA yet. I'm a fan, not an armchair scout. I said we'll see what happens, but again, he looked very good in spring training.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 12:50 PM) Wow take it easy. It hasn't even been a month yet and he still has a high K rate. We'll see. He was a first rounder that got hurt, and now he's got a .447 OBP in AA. I don't think there's anything wrong with being excited about this, nor do I think it's unrealistic to think he'll be up in September.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 12:33 PM) Mariners up 3-0 after 1 in Detroit, looking to finish the sweep. Sox and Tigers both started 10-8. I'd take our 10-8 over their's.

Birmingham- Molina http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...biraax_monaax_1 Mitchell 3-3, BB, 3B Can you say September callup? I didn't think it was possible last year, but he looked great in spring, and he's still going.
  11. Red Sox pitching staff implosion in progress. Play a 13-inning game, please.
  12. I've seen enough of Santiago and Reed to know what the right move is. Santiago was never supposed to be the closer to begin with, so there's nothing wrong with pulling the plug on him already. Reed should close. Always should have.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) Go away Brent Morel. May have cost a game. I'd still have no problem putting Morel and Beckham on a plane to Charlotte.
  14. You know the season is still very early when the Indians are in first place.

Charlotte- Leesman vs Tim Hudson http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...chraaa_gwiaaa_1 Birmingham- Zaleski http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...msbaax_biraax_1 Winston-Salem- Arroyo http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...potafa_wswafa_1 Kannapolis- Webb http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...kanafx_augafx_1 Other-- Dylan Bundy now has 13 hitless professional innings. 1 walk. 21 K's.
  19. QUOTE (onedude @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) If the Sox look like they're going to compete for a spot in the playoffs, do they bring up another starter to go to a six man rotation to protect Humber, Sale, and Peavy? I don't think that would be a terrible idea if it came down to saving them for a chance at going into the playoffs. 6-man rotation is an awful idea. It helped Buehrle last year, but it was more for Peavy who was still an unknown factor and Humber who never logged the innings before. You ride this 5-man as long as possible, and if Sale or Humber need a rest, you skip them and bring in somebody like Axelrod.
  20. It is a great start, but let's get to June 1 at about 30-21. That's a pretty good sample size, and we'll know if the pitching staff is for real by then, and if the offense has been good enough. I'm not thinking this is a rebuilding year, nor am I ready to tell the critics they were wrong yet. I don't know what this team is yet, but I'm enjoying what I'm seeing so far, and I hope it continues the last 90% of the season.

  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) Anyone notice Hudson hit the DL with shoulder pain? Post #1618
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) Steroids/PED-related questions from the non-Rangers/beat writers who would stir up the past. He's probably more concerned that it will affect his HOF chances to have that dragged through the coals. In actuality, he's probably the strongest argument for including someone because of their defensive abilities (like a Bill Mazeroski at 2B) as a catcher...forget all the offensive numbers he posted. Next time I'll use a "Gee" in front of "wonder why", with an eyeroll emoticon.
  24. Letterman appearance preview... http://www.cbs.com/late_night/late_show/vi...qB02Z&nrd=1
  25. Ivan Rodriguez had a press conference to announce his retirement, and he refused to take questions. Wonder why?
