  1. The Sox will next be eliminated from post season contention on Sept. 20th 2011. Blind optimism is what September is for if my team is in contention.
  2. I have to cheer for the Tigers, I can't stand the Twins.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) And you know its gonna be some cigarette smoking alcoholic. Woooo 116 here I come.
  4. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) 3 walks and a HBP works for me. Walks just clog up the bases.
  5. I miss hearing George Kell and Al Kaline. I always thought they were a good team.

Hmmm, Both of them were born on Jan. 28, 1974.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) 1 month shouldnt even be an anniversary. It's not. Anniversaries can only happen annually.
  8. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 08:26 AM) In light of this, I wanted to make a comment on Freddy and didn't want to start a whole new thread. I hate this comment from the times this morning...''I made my pitches,'' Garcia said. ''I never really pitch good here, but I threw well. We didn't hit. What can I say?'' First off 4 earned runs in 6 innings isn't pitching well. Better? Yes....but not well. Second, don't blame the hitters. I know they didn't hit..they know they didn't hit, but you lost collectively. This is the big difference between Freddy and someone like Buehrle. Mark would never say something like "I did my job, but they didn't hit" He would say "my team gave me the lead and I blew it." Freddy needs to be taught the meaning of TEAM again. When he gives up 5, 6 or 8 runs, Do the hitters say...hey Freddy blew it. Jamie Navarro II
  9. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) *cues up music* New. Pen. Order. I think we can run with this thing. 4 Life.
  10. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) This is the only time I can remember being dissappointed with KW. I'm sure someone will say "but there was nothing out there," but it's not like we couldn't have dumped Vazquez for a bag of baseballs to some contending NL team. Yeah, sure, he'd be admitting a horrible mistake, but at the same time Vazquez would be off the team and Ozzie wouldn't be trotting him out there every 5th day for one inning too many. So it's my belief KW put his ego ahead of winning in this case. I don't think dumping Javier would help much if at all. With the exception of maybe Roy Oswalt I didn't see any one out there availible that would have made a big enough impact on the team. We still would be looking at several guys that need to get their spiff together and thats either going to happen or its not, no player that was out there was going to change that. I for one am glad we didn't trade any prospects for a rental that likely would not have the impact we all would want. We still have a shot at the playoffs this year with the guys we have and I think we have just as good a shot as we would have if we had traded for Soriano or some other rental. I beleive we will be better off holding on to our prospect and playing out the season, if things don't come together we go into the off season with some trade bait where I think we can get better value and better address the teams needs.
  11. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) The Braves offered Andruw Jones to the Red Sox for Coco Crisp, Jon Lester, and Craig Hansen. The Red Sox didn't hesitate to reject this offer and close off all talks with the Braves. What are the Braves thinking? Can't blame the Braves for making this offer, The Yanks just made a big move so the Red Sox may feel the need to react and grab another big name of their own.
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) Kinda strange to me that you have A LOT more faith in the Tigers this year than you did the Sox last year. You were the only one (and you turned out to be right) that said the division race wasn't over when the Sox were up 15 games in August. The Tigers are up 8 1/2, and you've all but conceded the division to them. Not trying to start anything. I just find that a little strange. That's just fathom being fathom
  13. Cordero really only had an awful April. His numbers for May were good and in June they were great. July was going well except for one bad outing againt the Yankees. I think the Brewers will make him their closer, and I think he will do well in the NL. I also think they will probably try and trade him off in the off season. Mench should look a lot better in the NL.
  14. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) Um, so when is Verlander supposed to fade again? Well he just went over 130 innings pitched in his last start, so I'm guessing before he thows his next pitch BAM spontaneous human combustion.
  15. I thought Schueler recomended it but KW is the one who made the trade.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) The popular belief that I heard today is Soriano will be traded to the Tigers for Sanchez and another prospect in the next few days. If the Tigers get him, their lineup is going to be stocked with tough outs. At this point I think I am more concerned with what the Twins and Yankees do.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) How about McCarthy? I'd call him an upgrade. I don't think McCarthy to the rotation would work. We would almost be in September by the time he was sufficiently stretched out.
  18. This teams got no marbles.
  19. This is just something I saw on another message board so it may be complete BS, but apperently Bonnie Bernstein is suing him for sexual harrassment.
  20. QUOTE(MEANS @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:19 AM) all this from a bad back up QB, who shaved a Christmas tree in the back of his head. I have and always will hate Sean Salisbury. Hey, you can't talk that way about a former Grey Cup MVP.
  21. Is it possible that the Sox would trade for him then sign him to a long term contract to increase his trade value when they flip him?
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) To Seattle. Any speculation on who we would be getting back?
  23. spiff. I guess it wasn't my girlfriends fault. I guess these guy's just can't execute. Well I guess i have to let her back in the house when she gets back. fishin Sox.
