2012-2013 Official NHL thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 23, 2013 -> 08:09 AM) This game is going to be nerve-racking. I just hope they get out to an early lead and pile on so I can not be freaking out. I might have to grab a flask and start drinking at work to calm my nerves already.

2012-2013 Official NHL thread
I swear that I'm not anti-#19, but this stat blew my mind. In his last 29 playoff games, Toews has scored 3 goals.

Veal optioned to AAA/Danks starting Friday
That was a fun 2-3 months last year when Veal was an unhittable LOOGY. Now he can go back to being a draft bust for the Cubs. You couldn't pick a better opponent for Danks to return against. It's like another AAA matchup.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 22, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) "PED's" in the NFL also often means something like Adderall. Does Adderall not have the ability to enhance a player's performance?

2013-2014 NFL Thread
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 22, 2013 -> 01:17 PM) Between Crabtree missing probably most of the season and the Seahawks PED problems. That is why you don't crown champions in April. If a baseball team had the PED issues Seattle does, everyone would jump all over them as cheaters. But in the NFL, people only talk about replacing players during suspensions, they don't criticize the organization.

Game Thread 5/22: BOS @ SOX
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 22, 2013 -> 02:39 PM) Yeah I'd honestly rather start a AAA scrub on full rest. Do we have an AAA scrub on full rest available that wouldn't cause roster issues with anyone else?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 20, 2013 -> 09:18 AM) I went a couple weeks ago to Indian Boundary, a forest preserve course near O'Hare. It's a decent course, nothing special, but wow is it great when no one else is on the course. I played the front 9 with a small group and then played the back 9 on my own. I ended up playing about 16 holes on the back nine (and 2-3 balls each hole) because of the way the course is laid out. You can play a few holes and then take a 5 second drive over to a prior tee box and play them again. I did that twice in 2 places. Had a cigar, a few tall boys, and jammed out to some Spotify on my phone. It was great. Those CC forest preserve courses are decent for the price. But if you play when the weather gets warm, bring some bug spray, cause you will get eaten alive near the forest.

Santiago vs. Axelrod
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2013 -> 08:17 AM) I get why traditionally 4 lefties in a rotation might be seen as a problem, but really, these guys wouldn't be in the big leagues if they couldn't get righties out and their stuff is quite different one from the other. I agree. It's not like we talking about 4 Donnie Veals. I'm sure teams have added more RHB to their lineup when facing these starters, yet they still get the job done.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 21, 2013 -> 04:47 PM) Not happening, ever. And if you look at that page, one of the next posts is "Source said the talks are off. No deal". Nice damage control, douche. The talks probably ended two years ago.

2012-2013 Official NHL thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 21, 2013 -> 09:52 AM) They have more than enough ammunition to beat Detroit even if Toews is neutralized. This is true, and there are more than enough players to blame for the last two losses. But with the team in a scoring funk for one reason or another, and the season potentially on the line, I would like to see the team's captain and best player get on the damn score sheet.

2012-2013 Official NHL thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 21, 2013 -> 09:14 AM) You mean that guy who was getting brutalized on every play yet still took the puck to the net and looked utterly dominant? He had bad luck - hit a post, had a wraparound that somehow didn't find the opening. Howard played great, but I have no idea why you'd single out the one guy on the team that stood out as playing a good game? Why not get on Seabrook for playing like an idiot, Keith for being fancy, Kane for pretty much disappearing and stick handling us out of opportunities, or Hossa for lazy board play? I'd be quicker to blame just about anyone than Toews. He has been playing well, but the results aren't there and that's what matters in the end. Fact is he has 0 goals & 3 assists in 8 playoff games. They have scored only one goal in each of their last two games. Bad luck sucks and all, but if your best player isn't putting points on the board, you are gonna go home.

Paging #19, paging #19. These power play woes just kill me. Other than maybe Pittsburgh, no team puts as much talent on the ice as the Hawks #1 power play line, yet they still just can't seem to score.
